  • If you want your xenons to look more like LED, this might be the solution! In this episode I swap my bulbs and test them against standard Philips xenon bulbs which came with my BMW M2.

    Good review. It's crazy the car manufacturers have even made changing bulbs more difficult - all part of their plot to not let drivers self-service their cars but have to go to expensive service points. Damn them! Keep it simple!

      Unfortunately they don’t have end user in kind when designing cars these days.

    I just ordered a set of the OSRAM CBI nest gen(CBN) bulbs for my 2019 370Z and can't wait to see how they look on the car. My old 4300K OEM bulbs were starting to get a little dim and so this upgrade to the CBI made a lot of sense to me.

    I just installed Osram Cool Blue intense - Next Gen, up to 6200K and 150% more brightness. I too had fully working Philips Xenstart bulbs in my S5. The difference between the 2 looks very similar as your video. The Philips are a good bulb to begin with so improving on that or seeing differences is going to be minimal. Like you I wanted something a little brighter but with a whiter light. The Nightbreaker lasers would be best for light output, but not as white as the Cool blues. The Blue boost bulbs from Osram say 7000K and do give a more LED blue-ish light, but classed at not road legal in Europe - but independant tests have shown the Kelvin to be closer to 6K, which would make it ok for Euro road legislation. The Cool blue was rated closer to 5000K.

      Thank you for your comment. I was tempted to get the 7k ones but despite having a real output about 6k, they are not legal. I might give them a try in a future as technically, who wild ever check… MOT tester won’t be bothered as you haven’t modified the light.

    • @davewilliams7565
      @davewilliams7565 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MDrives Yeah, with the lighting technology moving forwards with LED etc and Kelvin colours moving up the scale, I think the regulations would be revised? Even the Blue Boost doesn't look like full 7000K. So long as the light output doesn't look too blue, then it would be fine with MOT. Not seen an MOT tester with a Kelvin meter!! 🤣

    I've had the CBI next gens in for a couple of days now and the difference in brightness and whiter color in comparison to the OEM bulbs is very noticeable. It would have been better if I had made the switch before.

      @@MDrivesYou're right, the lights have steadily gotten whiter and brighter as they've been breaking in over the last couple of weeks.
      Maybe in a few years the LED plug and play technology will have improved the focusing and optics to the point where these LED replacements would be clearly better than the HID bulbs.
