NASA Reveals 5 Next Space Station Generations! Goodbye ISS...
SpaceX is making significant strides with Starship, aiming to assist humanity in achieving crucial goals such as reaching the Moon or Mars. But did you know? Beyond these noble missions, Starship has the potential to serve as a space station.
    Sounds wild, doesn't it?
However, this scenario could very well become a reality, potentially emerging as the leading habitat for humans in space once the ISS completes its mission. NASA, notably, is highly intrigued by the prospect of the Starship space station project and intends to collaborate extensively with SpaceX in its development.
So, what sets the Starship space station apart from others? What role might it fulfill for both NASA and SpaceX in the future?
Let’s find out on today’s episode of Alpha Tech:

The space race is entering a critical phase, with nations taking increasingly ambitious steps toward milestones like establishing a presence on the Moon and paving the way for human missions to Mars. Amid this heightened competition, the United States remains a leader in many aspects of space exploration. However, it faces a looming challenge that could impact its dominance: the upcoming retirement of the International Space Station (ISS).
NASA Reveals 5 Next Space Station Generations! Goodbye ISS...
For over two decades, the ISS has been a linchpin of U.S. space strategy, serving as a hub for groundbreaking research, international collaboration, and technological innovation. Its eventual decommissioning presents a significant obstacle, as the absence of a replacement station would leave a void in low Earth orbit capabilities, weakening U.S. influence and disrupting ongoing advancements in science and industry.
To address this challenge, NASA and its commercial partners are racing against the clock. With the ISS nearing the end of its operational life, its mission is clear: to develop and deploy at least one new space station capable of continuing its vital role. Recognizing the importance of this endeavor, NASA has awarded contracts to private companies, incentivizing innovation and accelerating progress toward building next-generation orbital platforms.

once we get a "city in orbit" running on it's own, then we can make some "real" progress...😎😎😎

I have a great feeling tht SpaceX~ Spacecraft Falcon 8 will succeed it's orbit.
    SpaceX augmented eyeview.
It has a room for NASA'S eye view.
I am jst dreaming 🙏 and hoping 🌟

While i like the Vast modular design concept, that allows NASA to adjust the station's size based upon its budgetary constraints. Starship seem to offer longer term benefits. You can build one in space orbiting the moon and one around mars.
Space X can design a special expendable starship just for the Space Station.
Several Starships permanently docked to a central hub. The individual crew areas are linked to the central hub and their fuel tank sections can either be converted to cargo space, or left as a refueling depot.
Put one orbiting the Moon and one orbiting around Mars. This gives you the ability to have a permanent orbital cargo depot and refueling station as well as a permanent orbital science station.
Space X then could optimize planetary starships to ferry cargo and personnel to and from the Space Station. From there a huge 18 meter station to station only Starship cargo vessels transports 1000+ tons of cargo and personnel.
This mimics local trucks delivering to and picking up its cargo from a large ocean going vessel.

Fun Fact: Current Iteration of Starship is 5X Stronger than Saturn V.

Actually, our focus should be on mobility in Space, over permanent colonization in gravity wells, or on any body we cant yet physically move.
Other wise we are just sitting ducks for everything from Asteroid strikes, to Alien Re-Arrival.
I wont be listened to, but the fomula should invariably be enough mobility to evacuate every one from any colony.
Otherwise our space technology is de facto assisted self demise inevitably.
Mobility should never be sacrificed for security is an old Warrior's Axiom.
On space stations using Starship, its an expedient I have done writs about, from individual to multiples in configuration...
But I have bad news for the ring design renderers, you have the ships on the wrong side of the ring, and 90° out from correct orientation.
The ships should be on the inside of the ring, and orientation should be transvere to ring rotation.
    Here's why;
If you locate the ships externally you screw up your mobility. You would have to stop station rotation to attach a new ship. And every detachment would result in ships starting out on a random vector away from the station.
Better to do a wider "Rim", and bring the ships to the inside of it on the center line, rotate ships to match station, then use side thrusters to berth. This would allow building stations of any diameter, and supporting any number of ships, and not have to halt rotation any time one came or went...
Bad news guys, your design is a century old, and way better designs for the same materials and labor are possible.
And this style of station could be extended linerally by added ring sections indefinitely, and turned it a linear habitat by enclosing it. leaving ported ends and entry ports for ships, and could have a ring of engines to move it...
Basically what I am saying is we can start building Yuge! starships now, instead of dinking around with designs from the 1930-1960's...
Why build dumb krap? when you can design ahead and build things that last for thousands of years of utility?
The design I am proposing could also be adapted to tubular Space Elevators from one end.
And literally launch Earth stationed loads out its center into orbit, or stop them in the station.
    as usual, just sayin'
    😊

Great Video ! A new low inclination LEO CSS heading East from the KSC with a Fuel Depot nearby is needed to support missions to the moon ! This 28.5 deg. orbit can be supported by the ESA launch base ! This orbit can be reached with less energy than the high inclination orbit of the ISS ! Read the paper "Moon Direct" by Robert Zubrin ! The Blue Origin Blue Moon HLS/LEV/LLV with a 6.1 km/sec delta-V can support a mission from the LEO CSS to the Lunar Surface (LS) ! The Blue Moon HLS/LEV/LLV with a 6.1 km/sec delta-V can also support missions to the HST and to GEO ! Timothy Lipinski

Artemis needs to be Cancelled as Starship can do it all and in a much much BETTER way than Artemis. Not to mention Reusability. Cancel Artemis, Give The Funds to Space X and let them develop The Lunar Variant of The Starship.
