it's a matter of pride not poverty.. its in our blood.. we are humble and gentle but when it comes to war, either we die gloriously and leave the tales and live on or kill all enemies.. that's it..

My grandad served with Gurkha’s during WWll and he said they’re the most gentle humble and kind people you could ever wish to meet but piss them off and you’d better hope you have an army behind you because you’re going to need it.

I have witnessed a charge by gorkha soldiers of Indian paramilitary border troops, in 2007.........can't name the exact place for security reasons............but, I have seen, hoards of armed goons, literally, just turn and run for their lives, when the gorkhas unsheathed their Kukris and charged towards them, screaming their famous and blood curdling battle cry................Jay Maa Kali, Ayo Gorkhali.......................

An old British soldier I knew - and he was a very hard issue indeed - always said he felt that nothing in war was impossible with Gurkhas, and he loved them and their culture deeply.

"Gyanendra Rai was denied the right to live in the United Kingdom on the grounds that he had no ties to the U.K."
OK, I see the legal reasoning with that.
However, what if he had just boarded an inflatable boat at Calais and had the RNLI pick him up and bring him to Dover?
Would that have granted him the right?
    I'm only asking for science.
    Nothing more.
    Honest.

The British people vastly under appreciate the Gurkha's, They sow fear in anyone who knows anything about them, pure terror!!!. No one wants to square off for a fight and learn their opponents are Gurkas. Most forces would avoid that fight at all costs. The thought of such i thing gives me the willy's...that would be shaking in my boots frightening. Pure terror...id probably run.

Mike G we Gorkhas are not poor we don't run from poverty.. we have enough money to eat, travel, study and buy our needs. The bravery is in our blood since birth.. bravery comes from heart not from poverty..

i am from Nepal and it was my childhood dream to be a british soldier. However , when i was ready to join , i did a research about gurkha in British army . I felt quite discriminated , inferior and humilated. Since then, I crushed my childhood dream .
Britain is a whole shit nation.
It feels more like a slavery . I want a third world war and see the whole world destroyed in a pile of dust . That is what it belongs. The internal politics in every individual sucks.
I don't know why the people from our nation are serving there for their life where they are not treated equally. Let them do their business by themselves and we must do our business ownself. Nepal need development more than they need. Make them serve for us and wow ! what? Are they showing their back?
