This is a lovely model of a bear. Your instruction is excellent, well paced and with helpful soothing narration. I enjoy all your videos. I can tell the passion in your presentation of this art. A big thanks to you.
Sara, thank you very much for all the work you put into this video! Your instructions were very clear and easy to follow. Also, the camera magic in the beginning with pen lines suddenly appearing is a subtle yet amazing trick. Great job!
A very beautiful model and a very good tutorial, thank you! I like that you say everything that you do out loud. A good way to get acquainted with crease patterns too, and I really enjoyed how it felt like I was sculpting the paper with my hands.
The simplest ratio of the paper used is 5:3. So if you just choose what length you want the longer side of your rectangle to be, you can just multiply that by 3/5. So if you have a 40cm square, you can make one side 24 and then you have a rectangle in the right proportions.
I made this with a 35x55cm piece of cardstock. It looks pretty good for a first completed attempt (I tried this one a couple of times before I was ready), but I think I'll try it again with some slightly thinner paper. Thanks for the tutorial, Sara! :)
happyfolding.com - enjoy origami online I just tried it again with watercolor paper. Happier with the fold (made the head better this time), but not so happy with the paper texture. I'll have to try it again with something else. I emailed you the pics of the two attempts for your amusement. :D
Like this tutorial very much. Easy to follow. Maybe one thing I changed when folding the second time: It makes sense to "align" / fold the feet in a later step, because if you align first and then to the shaping / crimp folds afterwards it will disalign the feet again and the bears stand might be not optimal.
You'll have to cut it so it's a little narrower. Please check my video on paper ratios explained (7D7mvdUczzc) for details on how to determine how narrow it needs to be.
Hello, Sara ! I was missing your videos, so i refold this one, wich is beautiful. Your tutorials are the best to follow, it's so peaceful ... hope you're fine and the kids too. 🤗
Thanks! Yes, we're doing well, but my family is keeping me very busy. Still, I hope to post videos more often again now - just not on a weekly basis anymore.
Sarah! Do you take requests? Any chance you can make a video of a specific step in Lang's butterfly found in Origami Insects. Steps 30 to 31 do an Elias stretch. I can do this step when folding a CP but no luck in the model. There has got to be a trick. Please help!!!
Thank you for the video. For others like me with little experience, don't try this with copy paper. The multiple folds don't hold well and end up tearing. I think thin paper would work much better. Larger paper too, as the small folds are hard to execute as the copy paper builds up in thickness. A shame, as I got through 3/4 of the folding before things started falling apart.
there has to be some type of trick.I started with a paper 30 inch by 18 inch and the proportions looked unlike what u used,i cut my paper to 35 cm by 21 cm.no changes again .I am lost in the first stage.not happy, but still proceeding
I divided a 12 in. square into a 5x5 grid and removed a 2x5 rectangle leaving me with a 3x5 rectangle. so it's 12 in. x6.12 in. rectangle. Does that make sense
.... just press "space" then fold , press "space " again ... magical you got all the time you want to fold drink a coffee or just breath and thanks the one trying to help you ...
@happyfolding.com Hi…my friend loves your side. He thinks it would be great if you could make a video about the golden EAGLE in "Origami Zoo". It is a amazing model but a bit complicated…instructions very welcome.
aaaah HELP !!!!! I am stucked from the moment when I have to shape the body and fold the paper to obtain the head and forelegs. What folds is she talkin about here : 11.29' Just can't make it :((
hello nice Lady, i bought the book Origami Zoo, I `ve tried to fold the GoldenEagle unfortunately without success. maybe you can show me how to fold that model in a video. I would be thankful
Yes, it's a more advanced model. If it's a bit too challenging right now, try folding some easier models to hone your skills and then come back to this one. This is what I've done many times in the past, and it's always been so rewarding to see how I progressed, finally managing to master the complex folds that were too difficult for me before.
I find your origami tutorials incredibly detailed and well made, probably the best on TH-cam. Keep up the good work!

A big thanks to you.
Here it is! The instructional video for this month featuring a fantastic #origami bear by Stephen Weiss!
love it! I folded a bunch of mommy and babies for my work place and coworkers..the place I work at is called Cubs Den..so ya..it's perfect!
Your instructions were easy to follow and I was able to create a really nice bear. Thank you!
You'll have to cut it so it's a little narrower. In the beginning of the video, at 0:30, I actually included how narrow you have to cut A4: 17.8cm
Sara, thank you very much for all the work you put into this video! Your instructions were very clear and easy to follow. Also, the camera magic in the beginning with pen lines suddenly appearing is a subtle yet amazing trick. Great job!
Let me just whip out my professional origami paper I have sitting around.
A well explained video for quite the challenge. I've just finished doing the standing dog, I'm taking a break and gonna give this bear a shot!
Quite easy

I'm glad you like the model and my presentation style!

Sounds good, I'd be interested in seeing your finished model once you're sufficiently happy with it. :)

HOLLY SHEET ITS LONG!!! O^O
Great instructions. You have the best origami. Thanks.

My bear looks like it was hit by a car but OH WELL LOL
I got so frustrated that I had to go outside and take a walk to clear my mind haha
what do you do if your wanted paper size is smaller than the suggested
size

Amazing tutorial. Thank you so much for this! Was very easy to follow and didn't end up ripping my paper up :)

i have this book and it's awesome, but could you do video tutorials on a few other models from the book ? it would be great, thank you.
where can i find this Kami paper that's in that size?
You can use a4 paper and paper size will be slightly smaller
If you want whole numbers, you can use 15x25cm paper cut from A4 sheet.
Ok i was wrong ,the proportions r correct and i finished my bear perfectly, infact it looks awesum.
Great tutorial!
It looks easier to rear a bear cub
Can I use a4 paper?
the paper can 35 cm i got but i cannot fold the front two legs on the top is tear

MAGICAL APPEARING LINES.... SO OP
I love you voice
I divided a 12 in. square into a 5x5 grid and removed a 2x5 rectangle leaving me with a 3x5 rectangle. so it's 12 in. x6.12 in. rectangle. Does that make sense
***** It makes sense, except that the rectangle should then be 12 in by 7.2 in - not 6.12 in.
ah, I managed to make it work, even if my math was off on paper.
oh, yea, my math was just wrong. didn't carry the 1 somewhere, thanks.
OK LISTEN UP I TRIED DOING THIS AND YOUR GIVING ME NO TIME TO FOLD!!!
.... just press "space" then fold , press "space " again ... magical you got all the time you want to fold drink a coffee or just breath and thanks the one trying to help you ...

That can´t be right... My paper is longer than that one in the video, but it is 35cm long...
Is it just me or someone has this problem, too?
aaaah HELP !!!!! I am stucked from the moment when I have to shape the body and fold the paper to obtain the head and forelegs. What folds is she talkin about here : 11.29' Just can't make it :((

çok uzun ben bunu yapmıcam
ffffffffffff
THIS IS NOT ORIGAMI!!! WHY IS IT NOT A SQUARE???????!?!
Origami is about folding paper, not necessarily folding square sheets of paper. At least that's how I see it.
wea penca cl
origami bear no class
poorly explained!
this isn't really origami, origami is where you use SQUARE paper
It's origami as long as you don't use scissors or glue.
+Anime Gamer for oragami it is always oragami unless you use gleue or scissors
somebody leave a dislike for me
