I love your tutorials. Explain each step, get close-ups, very clear instructions. I appreciate these more complex models, too. So glad I found Sara Adams tutorials. Please do more of the advanced models, like this one.
I started with lot of energy and ended up exhausted to the point of frustration. The reason is that the extensive thinning of the legs required very thin paper, not printed paper. Also the detail of the ears is microscopic for paper of 21.5 cm. (8” to yield a model of 3.5” tall.) My model has the front leg placed a bit towards the back end. Have to figure how to adjust the proportion of placement, so as other minor details. The ears folding will benefit from slower close-up demo. Precision is hyper critical for this model. The design is far out and intricate. The demo, as all of your other videos are well done, esp. with your lovely voice over. (I do not see how else this instruction can get the learners through the maze of these folding puzzles.) Thank you for taking the trouble of teaching this superb model. Love and gratitude.
the folding instructions around 8:55 lost me. with that first fold where it's hidden and you have to check it... i was so frustrated! i can't continue from there...
*tutor*: And...squash this tiny angle... *me*: Oh...kay..... *tutor*: Now we're gonna narrow it *me*: What!? I can barely see the spot *me*: [Manage to done it] *tutor*: Now narrow it again *me*: What!? How can anyone do that? *tutor*: Now fold the angle in half... *me*: [use a hammer to keep the model flat] *tutor*: Now let's 3D the model *me*: Shit.
Very funny and true... kami/origami paper makes all the difference. I used 20x20 and got the exact shape the first time around. Reminds me of the origami wolf, if you use common printer paper it gets too thick and will open up an do awry
It's the first Saturday of July - time for another tutorial! This time around I'll show you how to fold an origami fawn / bambi / baby deer designed by Stephen Weiss. Enjoy!
no , as soon as you started the backside of the legs . no , mine has dozens of folds all of which are all f.....ed up now . first bambi's mother gets smooshed and now bambi ty . so much this was a retched awful sad day ! I didn't say it was your fault . im saying your to blame for this
Anthony Hang It depends on the quality of paper and your folding skill, but generally speaking, I wouldn't recommend it, especially not for your first attempt. If possible, use larger paper, e.g. 9in by 9in.
Fawntastic! I love it. I did have to start over near the beginning because I slightly skewed the fold at 4:15. The second time, I did a mountain fold pinch at the bottom edge so I could better align that crease. From there, it was pretty much smooth sailing. I also slightly modified the fold at 25:28 to completely pull out the adjacent flap, make the diagonal ear crease, and then reverse folded in the piece that was left. I'm 6'4", so sometimes my hands get in the way of tiny creases like that. Great job! I'm very happy with my new little creature. :)
One of my first origami models and it has turned out perfectly. Very well explained video, I don't understand all the frustrated comments, all you need is a bit of patience and attention to detail.
I tried this model today and got it completely..Stephen weiss: great designer & narration is quite nice and neat in the video.. You can make this model with A4 printer paper. Plz give some adv. Models like Tadashi mori and jo nakashima do. Thnks
hitesh jani I try to present a mix of models. I know that recently I've done more videos on less advanced models, but that's mostly because life has been very busy (completing the build and moving house) and so I've had less time for producing tutorials. I hope to have more time again in the coming months, and will then aim for making more videos on advanced models again. Let's keep our fingers crossed that works out!
And to you who feel it's too fast, theres' a 3-dot button at the top of screen, poke it poke “playback speed”, and select a slower speed. It's very helpful. You can also back up and replay by double-tapping the left of the screen.
Any square will work. Whether you can complete the fold at a specific size depends on your skills and the paper type. 20cm kami sounds reasonable to me.
Thank you, I made two. It was fun but in the end had to improvise. On one the paper was too thin on another too thick. /Users/robzeer/Desktop/oragami.jpg
Aww mine looks so cute!!!!! Do you plan on making a tutorial for making a origami hedgehog? If you are I know how to make one and it is super cool and very detailed but it is a medium level from easy to hard. If you would like my instructions please let me know and I will make a vid on my channel on how to make it. :) let me know!!
Sara is still folding those darned hind legs when I take out the glue, small magnets and small metal plates and start to glue the thing together with applied pressure from the magnets. I'm sorry Sara, I just wanted to use the pretty paper even though it's 15x15 cm. My hind legs look like they've gone through a tough time. And you know what, they have.
this stuff is too fast and not explained well! All I came here for was some fun and I ended up smashing every peice of paper I had in frustration! go slower and explain better.
Hanayo Koizumi silence I was just being a jerk that day . I've got origami all over the place , I know patience .so I've dabbled in bitching before . . . that's all
gary schraa i understand.. it's true that origami can be really frustrating when you just realise the hour you spent folding was just wasted. But hey, that's origami and it's as hard as our life so better keep up
Hanayo Koizumi hey hanayo, speaking of keeping up and as hard as life . the true masters like TRAN TRUNG HIEU LEO LAI JOEL COOPER are at the zenith of their art . magnificent stuff . me I do what I can wherever im at luv n respect gary
I'm sorry to hear that. It's definitely a more advanced model. If it's a bit too challenging right now, try folding some easier models to hone your skills and then come back to this one. This is what I've done many times in the past, and it's always been so rewarding to see how I progressed, finally managing to master the complex folds that were too difficult for me before.

I'm glad you like it! I've got a more advanced fractal planned soon - hope you'll enjoy that, too.

RHM741 Yes, it's an intricate model, indeed. Thanks for lovely comment and sharing your experience!

Thanks for the clear instruction of the Fawn. Enjoy folding this origami model.

I made that 98%clearly

@@kcthewanderer excellent pun 'fawntastic' lol
Muchas gracias y muy conseguido , bravo desde España
Why does she make it look so easy.
Patience and practice. :) Persevere, you can do it, too!
Hmm okay
What a charming model.

Indeed. :)
Thank you so much! Lovely tutorial, this would make such a precious gift for friends:)
thank you for this extremely useful video. The very first one I made was awesome,
Very useful!!!
It's weird I came across this video while it's being Processed. XD how Rare!
Very strange indeed! The video was still uploading when you commented.
I very love it it’s so simple but not that simple
Ha, it's definitely a more advanced design. :)
thank U sara i love it and only took 2 & 1/4 hours to make my first Fawn LOL ;)
your Instructions are very clear
Beautiful :D , fold it tonight, then you realize the movie with photos of models folded?
"Your Origami Folds August 2014" will feature photos of your folds of this fawn. :)
Does printer paper work or should something thinner be used?
Great video and model. Mine looks a bit like a young alpaca. The shape of the head could also be adapted to make a ver reasonable Dobermann dog
I'm glad you like it! Feel free to vary the model to your taste or even adapt to a different animal.
Very good
Thanks
Will it work with 20*20 cm of kami paper?
N'importe quelle taille va fonctionner, aussi longtemps que vous êtes à l'aise avec elle.
Any square will work. Whether you can complete the fold at a specific size depends on your skills and the paper type. 20cm kami sounds reasonable to me.
BIIIIIIIIIIIIG THANKS Sara :-)
Man easy and best
I think it's a more advanced model, but well worth the effort!
this was a GREAT project i completed it but i the back legs were a bit harder
this video is very long i need the diagram
Thank you, I made two. It was fun but in the end had to improvise. On one the paper was too thin on another too thick. /Users/robzeer/Desktop/oragami.jpg

this stuff is too fast and not explained well! All I came here for was some fun and I ended up smashing every peice of paper I had in frustration! go slower and explain better.
Origami is all about patience, you'll never be able to progress if you give up like this
Hanayo Koizumi silence I was just being a jerk that day . I've got origami all over the place , I know patience .so I've dabbled in bitching before . . . that's all

gary schraa Great masters, we will worship you until every pieces of paper is gone
Your origami is too hard but can you teach me good

You are going to fast
You are going too fast

your wasting paper
*You're
You're wasteing energy, time, and $ for your computer
So confusing and stupid !!!

will it work with really small paper like 10x10?
you could do it with whatever size paper you like, it would just be very hard to make with 10x10 paper
