  • This video is meant to be played as a 15 minute weighted pack training video. To use, get a pack with 30lbs of weight, and a treadmill that can incline or a stair stepper machine. Start the video and follow along. This is the beginning level to help get you mountain ready. For more info and weighted pack training ideas you can check out this episode of my Cutting the Distance Podcast.

Through the years, I get asked a lot on how to prepare for the mountains. I am fortunate that through my work guiding and filming, I am able to stay in shape by just doing it. There is no replacing training by doing the activity you are training for. I tried to boil down a few of the key things that hunters encounter in the mountains on a hunt and make a way that the exact thing can be somewhat replicated wherever you live, and integrated into a busy life.
This is a new idea for me that I wanted to try out. Hopefully it helps some people get ready for their next elk or deer hunt. Please let me know if it helps you. Thanks again for all the support.

Great regiment. Glad to see a seasoned professional getting winded after 10 minutes as I have been training hard for a couple hunts this year in the Idaho high country and it hasn’t been easy. Gone from 262lbs to 206lbs in 10 months which means the wolves and bears and elk in Idaho better be ready too! Thanks Remi.

@@RemiWarren Hunted 4 days in the Ocala Forest near my home in Florida and didn't hear a single gobble. Killed good birds there before, but not this time. Talked to another hunter near that same patch of ground, he said he was on a gobbler that gobbled over 100 times. I never heard it, though. I'll keep hunting, won't give up till the last day. I use those air activated toe heaters in my boots when it is super cold. Outside of that walking keeps them warm but it is the stopping that is cold. In montana on late season elk hunts we build small fires when we stop. I also like a good wool blend sock.
