2022 Low Rider S Upgrades (WHAT I SHOULD HAVE DONE FIRST!)

  • I briefly explain the upstages I've added to my 2022 Low Rider S and why I've chosen these upgrades. I try to relate them to uses you'll actually get from these upgrades. First is stage 1 (Exhaust and a tune), next I would suggest bars, and finally a windscreen or fairing. As for other upgrades I've added to this bike- Flo Moto pegs (rider and passenger), Saddlemen step up seat, 1 Fngr levers, back rest, Santoro engine guards, Cruise control, and a lay down license plate bracket.

    My 2022 FXLRS top mods, Kuryakyn Halo diffuse signals front and rear and taillight. Looks amazing when all done. Saddlemen SDC Pro Seat. HD Sissy bar. Lucky Speed short levers. V&H slip ons. This bike is a beast. Love what you did with yours!

    Nice looking bike! I also have a 2022 Lowrider. My first upgrade was cruise control. It takes some of the strain of your arms and wrist since you don't have to keep a constant grip on the throttle. I am getting new bars but with a very mild rise and pullback. I'm short (5'6") and the stock fairing does a good job of keeping wind of my chest even at 70-80 mph.

    hahahaha. Love your smart-assery! The mini-floorboards, backward feet demo had me rollin'! What a sick looking bike, man. Absolutely love the orange (I'm biased with a Baja Orange) because it stands in such dynamic contrast with the black...really accentuates the entire look. Your fairing is incredibly well proportioned, too; the overall symmetry when factoring in the sissy bar is bang-on! Quick questions: what height is your windshield; what is the specific name of your orange, and what brand are your levers? Thanks, Chad....you DID do it right! ✌🤘

    Looking good, man. Looking really good! Love that OG Moto fairing. How's that wind protection? does the anti-buffeting kit truly reduce buffeting or improve wind deflection? Hope you provide some more info in a future video as to how those mods work for you (bars, fairing, and else). Geez, sweet bike, Chad. really digging it! keep up the good work and enjoy that sexy machine!

    • @thehdguy378
      @thehdguy378  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It truly does help a ton. I rode the bike for about 2 weeks without the fairing or bars. I put 200 miles in and I hated it. I still get wind buffeting but it’s bearable. I just got back from a 2,600 mile trip and I have no complaints. Definitely some things I’m fine tuning before my next trip in October, but no serious complaints.

      @@thehdguy378 cool! Thanks, Chad! I'm glad it's making a difference. Now the question for you is whether those mods make the low rider s as functional as the low rider st, or which one you think it' a better value, LRS or LRST. Maybe a specific video discussing pros and cons of each option? All the best! :)

    Loud pipes don’t save lives…so ensuring that someone is aware you’re in their blind spot won’t help your chances of them not turning into you? Doesn’t matter how you ride…others on the road are usually to blame. Also…arms in the air turn you into a sail? Are you riding with a wing suit on? Lmao….you should be riding more than a week before starting a YT channel about it 🤣😂

    • @thehdguy378
      @thehdguy378  ปีที่แล้ว

      Get in your car, have a buddy with loud pipes ride in your blind spot (sound traveling behind you, in the opposite direction, granted the sound is faster than your car you still have factors preventing most of the sound from reaching the car) and tell me you can hear the motorcycle. Assuming it’s a newer model car with good insulation you won’t hear a thing. Pre 2000’s you may hear the bike. Then factor in that 95% of people have their music turned up beyond reason.
      I’ll agree, loud pipes are safer than no pipes (by a very small margin), but don’t rely on it. Expect the unexpected.
      If you change your stance to “I control everything that happens to me when on a motorcycle” you’ll be a lot better off. I firmly believe that despite drivers actually being in the wrong, it’s the motorcycle riders fault. It’s always our fault. Short of someone ramming into us at a stop light or barreling into us at 100 miles an hour from behind on the highway, it’s always our fault. Take on this mindset and you’ll decrease the risk of an accident by 10 fold.
      Raising your arms too high can create drag. This happens under certain circumstances like not having a fairing (no brainer) or being leaned slightly forward vs slightly backward. If your bars put you in a forward leaning position regardless of how tall they are you’ll be pulled back by the force of the wind. Raise the bars and reduce your leverage to resist that force, putting the strain on your abdomen, lower back, and shoulders. The main obstacle here is understanding the definition of a sail, and then relate that to how it would relate to this scenario. And physics… don’t forget physics. Thanks for reading.

    • @widowsson13
      @widowsson13 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thehdguy378 yes, you can absolutely hear a bike when you’re in a car with the windows up and the radio up. I can hear a bike 3-4 spots behind me like that and I keep my eye out for them, creating a safer environment for them. Maybe I have good hearing, or maybe you have poor hearing, but that’s always been my experience and if it’s mine, it has to be others as well. If it helps 1/10 people know I’m behind them, it’s worth it. And I ran 16 inch apes with 4 inch risers on a 67’ ironhead with a rigid frame for years. Never felt any drag from my arms being up. It’s no different than riding with drag bars and no windshield. No windshield is the key…without one you’ll always feel that regardless of the position of your arms. The difference in wind resistance when raising your arms up on higher bars vs keeping them down low is negligible at best.

    • @thehdguy378
      @thehdguy378  ปีที่แล้ว

      Visibility is by far more effective than loud pipes. Ironically nobody with loud pipes ever wears visibility equipment. I’m all about a good sounding exhaust but my experience is people that like obnoxiously loud exhausts use “loud pipes save lives” as an excuse for their embarrassingly loud exhausts. If you’re that concerned, ride with a neon vest on. Or a hi vis helmet. Pretty sure you’re wearing a half helmet in your profile pic. You gonna tell me more about your safety? Maybe give me the typical “helmets are statistically more dangerous than not wearing a helmet” argument?

    • @widowsson13
      @widowsson13 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thehdguy378 1. that half helmet is DOT approved. 2. I generally wear a Ruroc Atlas 4.0 full face (check any video I’ve uploaded). But listen, you can believe no one hears loud pipes or that the creamsicle orange on that bike is going to help…it’s all good…you’re entitled to your wrong opinion. Have a good one!
