Decades of Oakleys! I still have my OG M-frames and still use them for the clear lens (really hard to get Oakley lenses for those now). Jawbreakers are okay, EV Paths are my go-to. Oakey's deep-sea blue polarized lens is the one I trust on bright days. I just got some Roka CP-1X on a whim, and I just have to say that they are surprisingly good.

I've got prescription glasses so I always struggled with sunglasses. When I first started riding, I was wearing contacts, but found that my eyes would be so bloodshot and dried out after a ride that it was unhealthy. That really limited my options on choices because I wanted prescription lenses. I ended up going with Oakly Flak Jacket 2.0, and I have been elated with them! One of the best purchases I've ever made.

So far I love my Sutros, they have the 80s futuristic style design that I like. They protect my eyes very well, great vision too. Only complain is when shoulder checking the frame gets in the way a bit so you will have to get used to that.

i've been using oakley m-frames for the last 14 or 15 years now. i have two identical frames, so i have no idea which one i'm ever using, and between the two i just swap the same four lenses back and forth. wear on the lenses are starting to show, with little scratches and marks here and there, but otherwise the frames are just totally fine and flawless. they're absolute bomb-proof, the lenses and frames. i've seen all these new offerings around and your review just solidified my choice of sticking with oakley, as i've been looking to retire these and find something new.

I've always been a Oakley fan but the last two pair of jaw breakers I bought the film coating has peeled off one pair I had in the box for a year and when I googled it a lot of other people had the same problem since Oakley sold the company to luxotica Oakley manufacturers everything in China now not the US. I'm leaning more towards the 100% brand or Roka since I called Oakley and they offered me only $20 towards $100 replacement lens after all the years and glasses I bought from them.

I noticed this is an old video but I want to know why the Oakley outperforms the POC. Oakley has nice lenses but the lenses on POC Aspire are Carl Zeiss lenses. In photography which I dabble in, Zeiss lenses are up there with the best, if not the best. I have Canon, Sigma, Sony and Zeiss lenses for my cameras. I also have both the Oakley Sutro Poseidon Tour de France version and POC Aspire. POCs are Swedish but made in Italy. I heard that Oakleys are made in Asia and assembled only in the USA.

Snagged a set of 100% Speedcraft's a few months ago and have been very impressed with the optical quality and fit. BUT, the lens started to crack at the nose piece and outer holding tabs almost immediately and within 6-8 weeks had spidered more than half way through the lens towards the top. Not cool. After some back and forth with customer service they did agree to send me a replacement lens but of course they didn't have an exact replacement in stock so I had to settle for a lower tier lens. Haven't used them enough with the new lens to see if it happens again but it definitely has me questioning the purchase.

Nice to see these glasses compared back to back. I've recently bought a couple of sunglasses (100% speedtrap, Oakley and POC amongst others) to find the best one for me. Funny enough i actually really like the lens of the POC half blade a lot. It is worth mentioning that you can buy Them with different categories of lenses (cat, 1, 2 and 3). Mine came with a cat. 2 lens, enough sun gets blocked for most rides and the colours Stay true, something I really like. For good sight with a low standing sun I would recommend a cat. 3 lens though (which also Comes gold coloured! :). the asking price of POC indeed is way to high, but some good deals can be found (got mine For 100 euros)

Oakleys were a game changer. Once you invest in a good set of glasses you care for them, you stop abusing them and actually appreciate the optics. I've spent probably a couple thousand dollars on multiple glasses and lenses for cycling but I keep them forever and when I wear a lesser pair of glasses or lenses its immediately obvious. Not even cheap gas station glasses but somewhere in the $80-$100 range, they're just trash. I have compromised vision and am particularly light sensitive I love not having to squint on very bright day and seeing the beautiful landscape in almost HDR. Can you get a better value on the knock offs or cheaper options... yeah but performance and fit is no contest... you get what you pay for.
With a smaller face I can't pull off the bigger frames I tried the jawbreaker which is great for colder days but they look absolutely ridiculous on me lol... radar, radarlock, fast jacket and flak 2.0s litter my sunglasses rack.

  • @ProjUltraZ

try Oakley Radar Pitch Tungsten prizm polarized, bronze like a rose lens. cuts all glare amazing clarity for driving, cycling, anything, even down to sunset and low light. reds look outstanding, red flowers look crazy in sunlight. i have two EVzero Paths one has the Deep water prizm polarized, blue as heck but a rose base, also outstanding for everyday or the beach. this and the tungsten polarized have the most realistic color and detail i think. the 24k polarized EVzeros have a gray base so greens are amazing, that's my offroad or hiking or anywhere green is dominant and for absolute sunlight since it has the lowest light transmission of the three and i dont like their black polarized. those are my 3 everyday/everything shades.
oh and the best driving glasses ive found are the EVzero Path with the red Trail polarized lens. can drive at night, absolutely cuts the bright LEDs of BMWs and 4Runners with headlights right in your rear view mirror. amazing. no more squinting. 35% light transmission i think, oh but i got 35% ceramic tints on cars. actually, night driving becomes brighter with those, esp the traffic lights and taillights. amazing i leave em in my car. too bright for daytime unless youre in a forest with low light. ya prob a grand for these 4 with hard cases. got em all custom and chose everything.

Being an older cyclist that needs to war prescription lens, none of these premium companies really offer something for me. Which I find very disappointing.
If you are like me and need to have a prescription lens, Ruby Project offer a system that allows you to clip in a prescription lens (even multifocal) behind a couple of their cycling specific sunglasses. Form, function and fashion.

Peter Sagan wears snow ❄️ goggles when off the bike. That definitely makes him a unique snow flake - especially at the Tour Down Under when it’s 44 degrees and he’s got snow goggles around his neck.

What do you think of the Jawbreakers? On Amazon there is a pic of one with red lenses and looks amazing but then in the carousel is a transparent rose looking one and it looks cheap.

I’ve been riding with the Sutros and I’m not happy with them. At the Buck Fifty they completely fogged up 5 miles into the ride and had to come off. They are so close to the face and eyes they get covered in sweat constantly.

I feel like any sort of polarization distorts by vision and instead of making things better makes be feel weird. I got a pair of clear glasses just to keep wind outta my eyes for like $12.
