Here in South Africa 🇿🇦 they're called ADE 354. Little history tidbit- sanctions in protest against statutory segregation, Perkins/MF disinvests from apartheid ZA, Perkins sells license to some oligarchs to produce the engines in an industrial town called Atlantis in the west coast of the present day western cape province, voila we have Atlantis Diesel Engines (ADE). Great engines, ironically I'm using them on my three Fiats - 980 DT, 2 x 100-90s one being a DT
I'm in Canada and have never seen and eight speed transmission in a 1105. Have had two 1105's ,1100 and Massey 90 all with multipower which never failed and used all the time. Great video.
My grandfather bought a 1105 brand new and I grew up in the seat of that tractor. Ours had big rubber on the rear and the wheels were all silver..no red. Our fuel gauge never worked either. As far as the clutch go ours did that too and what was causing it was the clutch pedal itself would drag on the center console metal..a lil grease and it would work just fine. Most dependable running tractor ever just very clumsy to drive. Oh and on the door there would of been a rod you could prop the door open so you wouldn't die of heat stroke in the summer lol.
Looks like a decent old 1105 that needs a little cosmetic love. That is one of the best starting non smoking engines I have seen. Thanks for the videos.
I’m a little biased, but IMHO, that is a great tractor. The 1105 with the smaller turbo will smoke more than an 1135 from what I’ve read. My 1105 will leave a smoke trail under load. I think the cabs are great on those model tractors, ergonomics and really the whole tractor way ahead of their time. You might be able to find a complete cab from a salvage yard. Also Rudolph Brothers Implement in Rockport Indiana have lots of parts and knowledge as they sold those tractors new back in the day. Best of luck…👍
Great video! I see you got yourself a Christmas present early this year. It does look rough but that's the fun you get sorting things out! Thankfully it's not that horrible green colour!!! Massey ferguson rules!!
A bit different on this one JT. Plenty of cosmetic work but that Perkins sounds good, transmission and clutch works and even the tires have life in them! Never seen a cab rust out like that on top. What the hell! Cab doors yes, cab roof??!
Excellent video JT :) you did super well on get that Massey Ferguson tractor and need bit fix up do understand! On Clutch pedal does have spring need replacement because have seen brake on hook part spring and put new on after cure it ! Fuel gauge reading may be fuse or Sending Unit plus electric plug of corrosion or ground wire to frame have fell off too or corrosion to! Hopefully see what got do on fix up and say need get new! Also look forward on Steiner Clutch fix up and when get to also !
Good purchase! Next to the 1100 that is one of Ferguson best tractors! Ok to make the collection complete, you’re going to need to get a 1135 ! I’m glad you got this other than a 1085 , head gasket issues they have on the 318 . Merry Christmas JT !
I still have a 1135 that I bought when I was 17 in 1986. I started with a 1969 1100 in 83, then bought the 1135 for tillage. It’s done a great deal of round bailing and tillage over the years. The best part of the tractor is the probably the engine. I bought another 1135 28 years ago but sold it to upgrade to a 4630 after a few years . I figure it’s a plus that you have a straight 8 speed. Although multi power is nice, especially for bailing and swathing, it’s also another thing that might need work in the long run. The 1105 you bought sounds pretty good. Those 354’s are probably one of the most fuel efficient engines that I have ever had. A real fuel miser! One thing that can either be a like or a dislike is the dry liners. Although you don’t have to worry about liner seals leaking, pulling dry liners can be a hassle, and acquiring dry ice to install new ones is a bit of a hassle. I personally don’t find them to be particularly fun to work on or rebuild compared to deer or international. But that’s just my opinion. Enjoy the 1105!
Growing up, we had a '54 Ford F600 that the driver's door would stay latched. It defied every attempt to fix, including new latch hardware. (Not sure how dad found that.) Usually not an issue unless turning right. We resorted to a bungie cord.
Nice score, a couple gallons through the squirt gun n it's parade ready. You probably know about measuring the clutch depth after it's been cut to see if you need a thicker clutch break. Can be a bear to get adjusted otherwise.
My uncle has an 1105 open station I have had my eye on. It doesnt run but that may out it in my price range cause i just need something with some HP. Thx for the informative video.
The 1085 Ferguson is 8 speed aswel well they are here in Australia she will do up nicely as you know, it's amazing what a coat of paint will do, all the best.....
Glad to see red again . Nothing that a bit of work won't fix . Very straight .tractor . 8 speed box not uncommon .. Multipower transmission .easy to fix . Early ones suction screens nt best .later models suck through three point linkage screens .better set up . Get into it JT fixing merry Xmas cheers 🍻
Nice buy. I have four of the 5 series masseys, two 1105’s. One is multi power and one eight speed. The eight speed one looks about like yours. I fixed the mechanical issues and use it as a yard tractor to move implements and run an auger. My other three tractors are fixed up and painted and I had to cut the hinges off all three doors, shim it, and reweld to get them to shut right. Also if you replace the fuel sending unit it’s way easier to cut a hole through the floor and put a plate over it than dropping the tank.
Think you made a great purchase engine sounds good they are some the strongest tractors in their power class and carriers enough weight to get the job done hard to beat perkins power i grew up driving Massey Fergusons on the farm still own them you can make a nice tractor their always have like the 1105.
AD354 Perkins are a great motor, been out since Adam was a lad (Adam &Eve!) The 8 speed gearbox was fairly common in the UK on MF tractors from 48hp up to 80hp, all 4 cylinders, some had after market turbo's fitted. In the UK, being such a small country and very close to many others in Europe, it would probably be fairly easy to find a second hand cab for such, you certainly got your work cut out repairing the rot, but for some one like your self that tackles a clutch in a light green bastard (your words) cab will be a breeze, good mig welder will be needed. If I dont hear from you till 24, have a good Christmas for you and all your family...
Jt you are going become tractor poor . Another fine Massey. You need some new sheet metal for the cab no big deal as you said. Little bit of sand paper and paint she will look brand new. Great video .
Man that’s a cool tractor kind of reminds of of the 1066 I used to use at the farm we used it for every thing. Wish I could have gotten the owner of the farm to spend a lil cash on the JD 4020 for tires no that thing was amazing
Make 2 long bolt, headless, rods to screw into bolt holes of flywheel and clutch mountings to help you get those heavy parts set where you can then just slide them into place.
Hi JT. Let me put it this way. I am deeply saddened that you are on the other side of the planet, half way acros the globe. I hope that one day i will be given an opportunity to meet you in person. If i ever come to the States, you're on top of my list. Best regards, Stefan from Serbia
Jt it looks like you have a bargain with this 1105, i would try and fix the door before the bad weather comes and regards the fuel gauge it might be the tank sender unit, if all the wires are on the gauge have fun and a nice xmas.
JT, when you come across a 1085, grab it. They are a great small farm tractor and/or large farm yard tractor. After that find the elusive 1135 and you will have the the best fleet to grow all the acreage yoy will aquire. The 1105 there definitely hooks. Looks like some good balls to the girl. Cheers.
Eight speeds were pretty common around here on open station 1105-1135. I’ve only seen one other 8 speed with a cab and it started out as an open station.
I wish we could find stuff like that in the UK!!! I mean I was lucky with my 1200, that was in a hedge but anything hedgerow is like hens teeth out here
We got a 1105 when I was a youngster, and I can tell from the sound of this girl, that you have a great one, ours was equally sounding nice, and we put her through some serious work with a giant brush cutter, called Slagkraft Buskis from Sweden, like this one th-cam.com/video/qgH645_LkaU/w-d-xo.html , but ours was on consoles underneath the tractor from behind so you slid it under and bolted it to the frame She eventually split in half, so we had to sell her, we got a repowered Ford 9700 with a TW-35 engine in it instead, but that Massey stayed in my heart forever
I got my hands on one a few months ago. Has a canopy but not that complete cab. It had sat for for a decade and fired right up with a pair of used batteries. It has that same button to start so I doubt that's fabrication. I've begun working on the cosmetic stuff. My only mechanical issue was that someone had straight piped it so I bought the muffler. It's currently hooked up to my Farmhand grinder mixer. The steering in mine loosened up some when I got a manual and found the grease fitting behind the wheel.

Those 354 Perkins are a great engine. I have one in my Oliver 1850 and is the best starting engine on the farm.

The great thing about the Perkins diesels there economy . We ran Massey combines with Perkins diesels. 12hrs of work 70gallons of fuel.
How are you, my dear? Do you have tractors for sale?
@@user-fk8qz9wj4l I’m sorry there long gone
Those 1105s are a great workhorse. That was our "big"tractor on the farm growing up. Great score JT.
I'm in Canada and have never seen and eight speed transmission in a 1105.
Have had two 1105's ,1100 and Massey 90 all with multipower which never failed and used all the time.

Bowman tractor salvage has a 1155 he is going to part out. Looks like a pretty good cab door and roof. That's a cool old tractor you picked up.
Looks like a decent old 1105 that needs a little cosmetic love. That is one of the best starting non smoking engines I have seen. Thanks for the videos.
Sounds great!
Little ruff around the edges
I am sure when you are done it will look great 👍🏼
The lawsuits against Massey played a big part in doing away with Multi-Power.

Great looking project thanks for sharing
Another Great find JT
Another great video, Can't wait to see it working in the spring!!
Great find!! Looking forward to watching you restore it
Great find! It does sound super smooth. You have been building a great Massey collection, keep growing it. :)
Nice purchase JT👍
Bonus hitch welded on the front end comes in very handy pushing wagons or whatever in the barns !
Nice score! Love those 1105 Masseys
Fantestic . Love those tractors and the 1100 . Love the videos , and taking the time explaining stuff .
Glad you like them!
Great video!
I see you got yourself a Christmas present early this year.

Massey ferguson rules!!
Like your tinkering with masseys
Paul from Iowa, that's a win, nice unit
Loved the straight 8 in the 165 and the 135. The gears were spaced really well.
Hello, i‘m in Germany and i bought my first old Massey last month . It’s a small 690 with 80 hp. You’re starting a real cool project !
Right on!
Nice tractor, keep us updated on the work you do to it,I just got a 1085 with non working fuel gauge thanks for sharing
WHAT??? No mechanical cluster f***?? Say it isn't so. Blue mountains to you Joe.
Thanks for Info. J.T.....GLAD You take Stuff from NEGLECTED To RESERECTED 🧑🔧🤩👍
Two thumbs up for this one JT. Thank you for saving these old beauties.
You bet! Thanks!
Looks good, JT. I'm a Ford guy myself, but I do admire the old massey's.

1105 is MUCH better than a 1085. You did good.

Thanks! I’ll still get a 1085 if one comes up for good 💲💲
Jt what a score i have a similar soft spot for farm equipment, growing up on a broad acre farm helps but the Massey was a great find.
Hell yeah, that’s gonna be a great addition
One hell of a tractor, 354 Perkins and 8 speed, you stroke gold, good luck with her

Definitely a keeper and it sounds real good
Like it! Looks like a clean engine.
Used a 1135 for mowing pivot corners and ditches for many years and was a very good reliable tractor.
That’s going to make a great planting tractor!! Good score!

What a great find. My 1105 is a great tractor. Sips fuel and is reliable. Keep up the great work. Merry Christmas from Canada.
Thanks, you too!
How many acres do you work?
Hello JT , I'm looking forward to seeing the end result. It will probably be like a NEW Tractor. 😊
I hope so!
The engine sure sounds healthy. Body work and some paint and it’ll be a good workhorse 👍

I had an 1105 without a cab that was a straight 8 speed. I miss that tractor. I grew up riding along with my dad in the cab of his 1105.
Love your new tractor. Best to unload it off a high trailer in the dark .lol😂

I have a 1155 with a 8 speed, multi power, open station. Came from Michigan, now in the Netherlands
That’s interesting.. I thought the only two options were 6 speed with multi power of 8 speed without multi power
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 typo, my post is wrong. It should say : No multi power!
Eight speeds were pretty common around here on open station 1105-1135. I’ve only seen one other 8 speed with a cab and it started out as an open station.
An afternoon with some sheet metal and a mig welder and grinder problem solved. Then just paint it and problems solved.
Nice find. Good idea to do that rear seal if you didn’t it for sure would have leaked and ruined your new clutch.
I wish we could find stuff like that in the UK!!! I mean I was lucky with my 1200, that was in a hedge but anything hedgerow is like hens teeth out here
Nice tractor !!!!!
hi JT Good project !! 🙂🙂🙂
There must be a MF honey hole near you. Enjoying your channel and waiting for updates on the 1105.
I want a tractor so badly but I live in NYC so not sure where I’d park it 😂
Happy Christmas 🎄 from ireland
Same to you!
Nice, l wanted a mf1105 or 1135. I currently have the little brother a mf1085

I have never seen an 1105. 1100, 1135, 1150, 1155, yes. But not an 1105. I have driven a 1155 with multi-power and one without.
Sounds good! Ive never seen a tractor rust like that. I wonder if you could get a cab kit for it? That would save you alot of work!
I probably can. This will test my body work skills for sure 😉
another tractor in the rite hands,,,,, whitch is good ,,👍your gunna need a bigger shed,,🚜
Hoping to get that on the list sooner than later 😉

I got my hands on one a few months ago. Has a canopy but not that complete cab. It had sat for for a decade and fired right up with a pair of used batteries. It has that same button to start so I doubt that's fabrication. I've begun working on the cosmetic stuff. My only mechanical issue was that someone had straight piped it so I bought the muffler. It's currently hooked up to my Farmhand grinder mixer.
The steering in mine loosened up some when I got a manual and found the grease fitting behind the wheel.
That’s a tricky one that gets overlooked
@@jtsbarnngrill6873 I found a black and white copy of the user manual on eBay and that helped. I put those yellow caps on all the zerks now.
