I had it as a teenager, I can confirm- It's _very_ satisfying and fun. (it takes a lot of time to get used to all the mechanics it has tho, and the "action events" might be annoying, some more annoying/longer then others I'd say when you play the story mode a 2nd time on the harder difficulty, and get to the frieza fight a 2nd time, that's around the time you are really forced to pay attention, learn combos and utilize all the mechanics to your advantage.)
Yeah your right I have it it's fun playing it but it's pretty much annoying yea I know I said it's fun but I just don't like the thing that it ends with broly deafet goku and destroy the heart but I will like seeing a second season or a DLC
It was alright, but damn it was a disappointing game for me... I was only 12 and had recently bought a PS3, I expected PS3 games to be waaaay better than the Ps2 ones, not only graphically but content wise too. So playing this game after Budokai 3 was a major let down, less than half of the characters, Buu and GT saga not included (Budokai 3 only partially had the GT saga). No world map, no fun story mode to unlock skills and extras, no dragon balls to collect, just fight after fight with nothing else in the middle... I would rank this game as average in my list sadly, had hopes waaay to high for this game.
Yea this game has rly good aesthethics and sfx. The movements look rly natural, its too bad that during this time arena fighters became popular( naruto storm series) so they gave up on dbz as side scroll. Burst limit was the rebranding for the budokai series, it rly needed continuation.
man, I miss this game a lot, I always found something new about its mechanics worth learning (it made me want to lab things). It also really deserved a "2nd season" with the Buu saga to make the roster bigger.
If only this game comes out today (with improvements to the graphics), it could blow up immensely. The gameplay here is hella freaking good, old stuff is the best.
YES, This was my favorite fighting game as a teeneger too! :D (I was skeptical of the thumbnail actually referring to BL, but this makes me pretty happy) I always felt like BurstLimit was underappreciated online (people normally don't mention it as a top DBZ game). sure the action pieces can be annoying and it doesn't have the buu saga but the combat/gameplay is just way too satisfying. I remember re-playing the story and slowly getting the hang of the combat by replaying the story mode on its highest difficulty ( both the final Brolly fight on the 1st play through, and the 2nd playthrough on harder unlocked difficulty really force you to pay attention to the _many_ mechanics this game has, and learn combos; imo that's when you can really appreciate the combat and feel like you're really playing a satisfying Dragon Ball Z fighting game, otherwise, at face value/1st impression you might overlook it.). I even remember trying the 100 matches trials, which got too absurdly hard for me to complete with any character back then. (I think I only reached the 70th, maybe 80th) in conclusion, Weird face animations plus the action pieces that where too long aside- It was a super fun experience (until my Xbox's red ring of death). ... Needless to say, watching this is extremely satisfying and hype, even if it's the last time I hear people specifically talking about this game.👌
My uncles used to play this game when i was younger. This is my first fighting game and what got me in to dragonball z! Love to see it here on the channel!!
Good to know that burst limits holds up well. The cell shade art style still makes this look gorgeous and plays like a tenkaiichi budokai nostalgia trip
This used to be one of my favourite DBZ games, the roster was pretty slim and the story lacked a bit but the gameplay was so fun and to say it came out in 2008 (I think) it looked and still looks amazing
oh my god, this was my favorite dragon ball game from when I was little, it was a masterpiece and I think it was one of my very first ps3 games as I was about 3/4 years old at the time, the animations were phenomenal for the era and I was really excited when there were clashes between vegeta and cell! I still don't believe you brought such a game, you are making me cry right now and I thank you! P.s my favourite character was broly! Thanks a Lot Dotodoya!
They REALLY need to make a Burst Limit 2 or something. The Budokai gameplay style is legendary and we need a game with it involving all of the arcs from Dragonball, to Z, to Super.
The buu saga tease at the end of the story mode will always make me sad. I remember beating the game and being pumped for the sequel, only for Raging Blast to get all the attention..
My favorite memory of this game was playing online. Both of us were Trunks, and my support partner was Cell. And the skill where your partner recreates piccolo’s sacrifice was activated, so I got to watch first form Cell die to save Trunks xD
I remember this one had great cutscenes during story mode. Anyway, kinda bummed neither of you did one of those strong punches to the gut (I think they were done with R2 + punch or something like that)
Nah, the cutscenes were actually extremely basic, repetitive, and lackluster and consisted of basically nothing but the player character and enemy taunting each other with zero context as to why. If you're someone who's not intimately familiar with the storyline of the manga/anime, you will have ZERO clue as to what's going on because the story mode explains NONE of the actual story, not even in giant text boxes like Tenkaichi 3. Hell, Budokai 3 did better explaining the story and it was told entirely through static portraits of the characters with speech bubbles. You wanna talk a DBZ game with great story mode cutscenes? Try Budokai 1 from 2002, shit felt like watching a gorgeously fully animated CliffNotes version of the manga. 20 years later and still NO DBZ game has come CLOSE to the quality of the cutscenes in that game (no, not even Xenoverse or Kakarot... 95% of the cutscenes in those games consist of static character models standing there just talking without moving a muscle. ALL of Budokai 1's cutscenes are pre-rendered and full motion, and they are glorious to behold.)
@@TheBigBlueBugofJustice looks like you didn't play the story mode. Not talking about the crappy battle interruptions. In story mode you get pretty good recreations of important moments. They even make a point to use key manga moments, like an anime does.
@@AndresLionheart Like what? I literally just played through the entire story mode of Burst Limit for the first time a few weeks ago and all I recall is it skipping pretty much every single important story moment and focusing only on the fights. Hell, the story mode starts out with Gokū squaring off against Raditz with absolutely zero context. They trash talk for about ten seconds, then fight. The entire game is like that.
@@TheBigBlueBugofJustice like when Raditz and Goku die together. I vivdly remember that one frame when they are both falling slowly to the side. I don't know about non-battle story moments, I only remember the battle scenes in the story were well represented. It's been 14 years since I played it so I will trust you, lol.
@@AndresLionheart They do show SOME scenes from the series, I grant you. They show Piccolo skewering Gokū and Raditz, Goku's beam struggle with Vegeta, Gokū using the Genki Dama against Freeza and Freeza blowing up Kuririn, but not really much else. BUT. They are ALL still EXTREMELY out of context. For example, that story chapter ends right after that frame where Gokū and Raditz fall to the ground... and the IMMEDIATE next scene is Tenshinhan facing off against a Saibaiman. No explanation, no scene showing that Raditz transmitted everything to Vegeta and Nappa, nothing about Gokū training with Kaiō, nada. The Saiyan arc ends with the aforementioned beam struggle between Gokū and Vegeta... then goes straight into the Freeza arc... with Vegeta facing off against Reacoom, no context. Nothing about how or why everyone's on Namek, nothing about its Dragon Balls, nothing about Zarbon or Dodoria, nothing about Butta, Jheese, and Gurd, etc. Similarly, the Freeza story arc ends with Gokū giving Freeza some of his ki, then shooting Freeza back (the famous "You fool!" scene), and then immediately transitions into the first Cell arc chapter with Gokū training with Gohan. Gokū mentions that the Artificial Humans (Androids) are coming, but that's it. Nothing explaining about WHO or what they are, nothing about Trunks or Dr. Gero, nada. The VERY next story chapter has Vegeta fighting #18, with no explanation about her, nothing about how Vegeta became Super Saiyan, nothing about Nos. 19 or 20, just starts right off with Vegeta and 18 trash talking each other. It's like the developers didn't care at all. I get that at that point, it was Dimps' FOURTH time telling the same story after Budokai 1-3, but still... imagine if BL was someone's first DBZ game and they weren't familiar with the series... it's not a good look lol
