  • Since 1917, the Coombs family has been publishing the weekly Saguache Crescent, filled with small town news - and the last paper still produced with old-fashioned linotype. Barry Petersen reports.

It should become a community cooperative run by volunteers from the town as a public and historic institution.

He could also set up a business for custom order prints from Linotypes which I am sure have some vintage appeal.

Amazing! A good old fashioned community publication. A refreshing change from today’s biased newspapers. I wonder if I could get a subscription? I don’t live anywhere near Colorado but I’d gladly pay a few dollars a month to help keep this going.

I’ll bet Dean Combs knows the term “cut to the chase” has nothing to do with silent movies and everything to do with cramming the most pertinent information into the metal frame holding type which is called a “Chase”.
    Very cool story.
