The International Printing Museum’s curator, Mark Barbour, takes you on a working tour of the museum’s galleries. He highlights the history of printing from the Chinese invention and Gutenberg’s development of typecasting to Ben Franklin’s colonial printing shop. You will also see the workings of a 19th-century country newspaper shop including a platen press, and experience unique typecasting machines such as the Linotype.

My grandpa was a small town printer with a weekly newspaper. He had a whole shop full of presses, Linotypes...and all 10 of his fingers! All his presses were belt driven, and his newspaper press was as big as a pickup truck!

Mark - It's always a pleasure to see your videos - and know of your work - and restorations at IPM. I've been doing letterpress printing for nearly 60 years, and always find your videos to be informative and accurate. This is the best and although I now call my print shop a "Museum Print Shop" and have shared my knowledge with many new printers over the years, I must bow and defer to you as the expert. BTW - I recognize some of the framed photos in the background - Sam Clemens, the outdoor print shop and, of course, the Miles Nervine Proof Press. Mine has "Miles Heart Cure" stamped on the end... Keep up the good work!
