I've wondered how this was done for a couple years now, and this is my best guess! It's a pretty tight bit of choreography! I think that Muirhead (trumpet player) and a second cameraman are in the bed of the truck. At 0:31 you can see the front door opening, and by 0:40 both doors are open. The second cameraman is crouched a bit off to the side and takes the camera as the first cameraman passes it through. There's that LITTLE bump at 0:55 as it's passed off. The first cameraman just has to hide in the car by 1:04 and can re-activate the car alarm on cue (or the person who deactivates it at the end; either could have happened). Also there's two people listed on camera! Nick Maciarz and Chad Hladki! There's also a couple of different variations that could have happened. Cameraman 2 and Muirhead in the back seat -- but both doors open at the same time, which would be pretty ergonomically tricky from the backseat. I think it's more likely that just the second cameraman could be in the back seat and Muirhead opens both doors. I'm not sure if the second cameraman is to the side or more under Muirhead in the truck, at 0:53 I THINK I see a glimpse of black fabric moving in a different way than the rest of Muirhead, but that could just be a rumple of fabric. I think this is done in one take, I don't think there's any hidden cuts. I'm studying filmmaking and this was fun to try and pin down! And honestly just as impressive as the camera choreography was the sound! It's incredible! This isn't exactly what you were asking but I hope you found this interesting!

I really don't think it's distracting, and that the general balance overall works really well. I don't get everyone saying they couldn't stand it. It's inventive and unique.
I agree that it's inventive and unique, but I still can't stand it. Even the most creative ideas don't really work out all that well. I think it would have been better if the car alarm was either quieter or just part of the intro. But it seems like they were going for a more raw and authentic style by recording everything in one piece, rather than in a studio. So, unless they changed that, they wouldn't really be able to lower the volume of the car alarm(unless maybe they physically altered the alarm within the car). I respect that, they're a street performing group at their core, and I do love the out of the box thinking, but I don't think it turned out that great in my opinion. It was interesting and creative, I will give them that.
Art is meant to make you feel something. This is art. Plus, if you have an ear for music, you'll notice that the alarm is a dual-tone, playing the root and minor third of the same key TMZ is playing in (minor too). But its even more than that. I think that the tone of this hellish chant is perfect along the shrill cry of a car alarm. So basically, it's perfect :)
This piece is incredible and totally makes sense to me. I'm sure this probably came about because at one time or another (I'm guessing often) they've had to improvise around a suddenly blaring car alarm. I mean, some buskers would have stopped playing but they figured out how to make art with what would otherwise have been an annoying experience for everyone present. That's my guess, anyway. If you put this in the context of the environments in which these guys perform, it's genius. It's music, they wrote it, why shouldn't they have it showcased in the manner (and the volume) they want to?
Car across the street from me left their car alarm going off, so I just HAD to get this playing along with it! Immediately went from irritating to jamming out! Problem solving, Too Many Zooz style! 💜💜💜
Years ago a small, Indy band was playing at an outdoor festival when a nearby car alarm went off? After a short bit the guitar player began jamming to the alarm and after a few bars was belting out a made up song on the spot. Best display of going with the flow and turning a huge annoyance into a fun, memorable ditty that had us all rocking along.

you don't need any accent marks, my man. I will now re-write your paragraph as one from that of an anglophone
I think the car alarm is this loud on purpose. When it starts it's just annoying but if you focus on the instruments you hear the alarm as rhythmic backing but then when we pay less attention to it it doesn't sound as loud or prominent (I'm not sure if I am writing correctly, I am learning English) then when the instruments stop its annoying again. This music and video is for me an experience about how to hear sounds in different ways. Creative ! I think I like this one more than the Bedford one (but Leo on BBC prime stile first) Glad I saw you in Calgary ! Keep going!
You are annoying jajaja!!! The music it’s prefect than other shits jajaja sorry...
-What instrument do you play?
- I play car
Thanks for helping! You have made my days and nights much brighter!
Love your Music, please continue to make us happy!
It's music, they wrote it, why shouldn't they have it showcased in the manner (and the volume) they want to?
originalzombie1974 thats true but that doesnt mean they cannot be criticized because 1: this is youtube what did ya expect and 2: freedom of speech.
Молодцы, оригинально. Случайно услышал вашу музыку, теперь часто слушаю, спасибо.
The sequel EP is called Tornado Siren
Try "Weather Three" by Michael Gordon.
The most New York thing you could do musically. Awesome!
How many times have you listened to this?
ME: YES YES YES!!!
This is 🔥🔥🔥
I like that the car alarm forces them to play and improvise in a different key than their typical f minor.
This is something I didn't know I needed but am now glad I have
We want an extended version.
This is now all I will be able to hear in my head when I have a car alarm going off in my neighborhood and I LOVE IT!

Was a damn pleasure and thrill to have worked on this video, wild as always TMZ!
I have no idea why I saw "to have wanked on this video" in your comment at first ...

Y'all seem like some cool cats. Sure wish I had some wheels to where I could drive up to New York City and see y'all perform! Awesome 👍 👍
Очень неожиданное сочетание с сигнализацией. Классно и здорово!
P.S. А у Лео в конце клипа ключ из кармана выпал :)
did Leo pick up the key he drops in the end when he is lays on the bed of the truck? i always wondered if he "lost" that key?
When I put this masterpiece on full blast at home my dogs are on full alert. It's an immersing listening experience for all of us.
This comment is actual gold.
I love how he simply let the robber go after stealing something, and instead just plays this amazing song
This shit still slaps so fucking hard.
2:39 THANKS.
Btw that's a really cool idea!
You're welcome
That scream at 1:51 is me when I find my brother sitting on my bari sax case 😂
