There was actually limited gold mining on Mt. Diablo many years ago. In the mid 1980s, We saw two of the old mine shafts on the east side of Eagle Peak, which is on the northwest flank of Mt. Diablo. We found the remnants of an old trail leading to them and fought our way through the brush to get to the mines. There was scattered remnants of timbers and various metal on the ground. There are supposed to be several other small mines on the north flank of Mt. Diablo, but we never saw them.. There are traces of gold in several of the seasonal creeks on the north flank of Mt. Diablo too.

The pacific plate collided with the continental crust causing a folding action of the continental crust, allowing sheets of super heated fluids (molten quartz) to be injected into the gaps between the now stacked/layered continental crust. With the super heated fluids was gold and other minerals minerals in solution. As the super heated fluids rose up they cooled, and the pressure was reduced. During the cooling/depressurization the gold and other minerals began to fall out of solution, thus forming gold deposits. There, i fixed it for you :)
Hi Prospector Jess names Chuck was wondering if you are ever in Shasta county? Live in Redding but own property on clear creek and have a patented mine and some addicts. This area was known for its minerals. Was wondering if there is anyway we could take a tour of my land .I think you would enjoy . Hope u read this, thanks
Is the Clearlake area around 150 miles north of San Francisco a good location? I live there and i can't seem to find a clear answer. There's plenty of volcanic activity and many hot spring/geysers.

what can you tell me about the big sur area for panning for gold--i am disabled and this(think this s the nearest area for gold) i do live close to watsonville and would love to know of this area for any sign of gold, thank you so much--74 yrs old and my last to prospect is getting close, greg dean
Hi Greg! What this shutdown ends and If you don’t have anyone to accompany you, I’d be glad to do so. I live in Marina and I would love to have this experience. I have no one to come with me. I asked my youngest daughter who lives with me but i doubt she want to come. I can’t wait for my two grandsons to grow up so they can accompany me in search of adventures in the wilderness 🌲🌿

Pure gold is 24kt. Considering the other metals and minerals (etc.) found in most placer or hard-rock, what kt gold is most likely found in the wilds of most streams, around say, the Sierras, in California before doing anything to it to further purify it? It would effect the selling price, no? (I'm writing a western story but live in North Eastern Taxachusetts whar thar ain't hardly no glitter attall {a very sad face emoji, maybe with a tongue sticking out, would be placed here~ if i were a 14 year old little girl...} ). BTW. Great vids, keep it up, plz.
That's a great question and the answer is ---- It varies. I'll have to do an episode on gold purity and its variation. Low side 10kt or even less high side up to 22-23 kt.

To answer the question. ANYWHERE THE INDICATORS HIDE. I FIND ALOT OF GOLD IN FAR NORTHERN OREGON CASCADES. Just south of Mt.Hood.
