you definitely have the best camera work out of all these random gold panner channels, the sped up footage is a nice touch because it allows you to see more of the actual work in a shorter period of time.
I like his classifying method. I would use a tarp to catch all the gold. A similar method is to use a tarp in a small creek. classify and wash at the top of the tarp and have the remaining 10 or 16 feet of tarp set up as your sluice (with rocks for riffles).
Another great day on the gold Skovian , And a very respectable total 👍👍 Yes , i'm glad you added the bit about the yabbie pump at the end , because there is only one way to recover gold off the top of bedrock under water , and that is suction . Without that , you would have lost lots of gold . Nice going matey 👌✔ Cheers Ned . ✌
Thanks Ned, I wish I was able to get recordings of the yabby pump in action,(the family was going bonkers 15 feet from my microphone and it was just a mess trying to get anything recorded haha)
Yeah it's about a 3 and a half hour drive down to your area from where I live straight down I-5, was thinking about coming down and camping out for a few days
Skovian, I've always liked your videos and especially the last two! It's helpful to see the line and where you are digging. Maybe even line the shot up with the river, especially if there is a bend. Adding in some of the why this might be a good spot...Thanks for putting all these videos together! Also, have you tried a ducky kayak in and camp for a few days?
@pacificgarland901 Thank you, that really means alot to me :) I had tended to shy away from the educational aspect in my videos. I figured there were more qualified people to learn from than a kid like me. I'll have to start putting a little more effort into explaining why I dig where I dig and what I look for in my videos :) I had borrowed an inflatable backpack kayak once, but only to cross the river. I really wanna try it again though. Ive also been thinking about making a stand alone video just on what types of bedrock I look for and what types of bedrock I avoid, aswell as a beginner how to gold pan video I've always wanted to camp on the river for an over night video, I just need to be able to have a campfire haha (fire season) it just wouldn't feel right without one

@ExtremeCoastAdventures Thank you brother! I forgot that you had this second channel, I'm gonna have to watch some fishing vids! Can't wait till you get back out on the Gold again :)
Nice work Skovian! Nice gold once again! Why not bring an extra large pan or cookie sheet to pile all the classified material on? I bet you are losing some gold doing it without. Good gold hunting! Take care.
Hi from Melbourne Australia. The silver piece you panned is most likely mercury coated gold. Old timers used it a lot in the 1800's. Hope that helps. Your mate, Peter.
Awesome-sauce Skovian... i think this is the most youve found in 1 go.. and ya didnt have to use the vacumn or be a Billy goat to find it. Cool beans. Hopefully next time will be even more. 😎👍🤟
@wesblood3620 I don't believe I've ever heard of any rules up there that would stop you. Along as you are allowed to dig in the water, I would expect it to be legal (maby not the yabby pump, but the broom and dust pan)
It's the XP classifier. Instead of square holes, it has rhombus shaped holes. I've never had a rock get stuck it it. I would definitely recommend the XP pan and classifier.
@@SkovianGoesOutdoors thank you, I might just try one of them, as for pans, have you tried Sluice Fox??? Ireally like thier med n large pans thier sluice box is awesome, I bought them for all 4 grandkids and use a pair linked together myself..
Great video, just remember though gold is the heaviest rock in the river. When you classifie in the water it will sink right down on bedrock. Unless you have a small suckered gun to suck it up off bedrock, there is no way to get the gold off the bedrock.
Seems to me you could do better by putting your classifier on top of a 5 gallon bucket and do a better job of collecting classified material . I'm betting you are losing a lot of fine gold since you are not using a vacumm pump to clean the bottom of your sump . Can you explain your decision to do it the way you are doing it ? You could even put your gold pan under your classifier if you think carrying a bucket around with you is too much trouble .
I had a yabby pump with me, it was malfunctioning during the beginning of the day, had to let the seal soak up with water, Rodney had a dust pan and broom (had a whole section of the video where I talked about it at the end) If I didn't have the pump, I agree, a bucket would be a much better play. I'm also planning on going over both areas with a cordless shop vac once the water level drops back to where it has been :)

You should bring a small whisk broom to use in the craves you are working on to help clean up deep inside the craves.

I thought the same thing, but the closer I got to the rock the less gold was there. I should still check under it though :)
Never done panning or detecting but why aren't you detecting as you pan?? It would be logical to me! Good video from Northern England.
