Locals don't normally eat Puran poli with everything. Normally with ghee on it or with milk or something called katachi amtee. Which is Maharashtrian dal like parent of sambhar and rasam
Appreciate that you are actually showing what people in Maharashtra eat at their homes. An even more satvik version of the chhapati is the bhakri. It is made from Jowar/Bajri/Ragi (millets) it does not contain any fat like oil and is eaten all across Maharashtra.
it's such a heartwarming feeling to see you guys being yourself in-front of the camera. I too wasn't aware about satvik food. Thanks for enlightening me😁
Yeah, it's difficult to find home cooking like this. But it might be possible where you are. In New Zealand, they're usually smaller stores without much fuss, and usually more word of mouth places.
Actually, Tamasic food is one which is rotten, leftovers, unhealthy. Rajasic food is one which raises your passion such as spicy and non veg food. It raises your energy but is not necessarily healthy. Sattvik food is pure, natural and clean which is healthy and raises energy also. Any food, eaten in more than desirable quantities will make you sleepy and lazy.
Load of lies. SATVIK has nothing to do with fresh healthy food. . And meat is said to be tamasik. Even garlic is tamasik. It goes on and on. . Please don't skip your healthy meal.
In Taiwan, there are Buddhist Sattvic restaurants everywhere. They'll typically have the ancient swastika symbol which is a sign the food is acceptable for Buddhist monks, nuns, and practitioners. The swastika tends to throw foreigners until they know what it means. The food is delicious. Love this video. Can't wait to try Sattvic food in India ❤ 🙏
I absolutely love eating fresh organic unprocessed foods. You can actually tell the difference, like night and day! You feel refreshed, and not comatosed. It's hard to get that from eating out now a days.
Nice to see u guys enjoying Maharashtrian food...you are right Karl, Puran poli is more like a desert/sweet dish, it's not eaten with any sabji, chutney, sauce or pickle like chapati..but it's part of main meal and Puran polis are usually made during festivals, they are eaten with gulavani (a syrupy sweet dish made by boiling water with 'gul '(jaggery in marathi) and cardamom, can add milk in it as per one's taste..) and 'Katachi amiti' a spicy gravy made of chana dal and some spices, which taste different than the other dal dishes..katachi amti is also eaten with rice..u can also eat puran poli with just hot milk and ghee...all these different combinations taste yummy..any extra puran polis left are eaten with tea the next morning and they taste amazing... just roll it,dip in tea n eat it...since u are in Maharashtra try village/rural food which is hot, spicy and it tastes awesome...like all other places there is diversity in maharashtrian food too.....
where is this in navi mumbai? i lived in kharghar which is by the panvel line from CST for most of my life until last year when i moved to mumbai. seeing the chill area really reminds me of the lazy afternoons we used to have there before the boom and bustle of a more developed town came. the 5 floor flats, small shops by the roads, mild sunlight of the afternoon, quiet neighbourhood and the somewhat humid but cool air really made it such a cool place to live. the locals there are quite tame, living peacefully with each other and all. i miss living there.
Another great video! 😍 I'm surprised you learned about Ayurvedic food just now. Would be interesting to do more videos (or a series?) of Ayurvedic-conscious restaurants in different cities of India.
This is the best place where you get homely food ...Now it is located near station ... I have been eating here since 3 years...the taste here is superb and homely with all good ingredients...Do try food here..the owners themselves prepare food and keep the place clean and hygienic...
When it comes to food nothing goes waste if one knows what to do with leftovers. One can feed it to the animals whether they be cats, dogs, they turn vegetarian too. There are orphanages or senior citizen homes, they enjoy a change of this satvic food.
I really miss my maharashtrian food... Currently residing in Bangalore. Here, food is horrendous and expensive on top of that. Never ever gonna live here again..
kill me if my words are too bitter but i dont care i am going to say it: MAHARASHTRIAN CUISINE IS THE BEST IN WHOLE INDIA ill accept my punishment for being bitter. but truth is always bitter.
Satva is food for the body and soul, Rajas is food for the kings - oily, sweet and tasty, Tamas is food for the warriors - so oicy, hot and tasty too 😊 Manu didn't explain these correctly I believe.
i can assure you that you will have a good time at navi mumbai. just stay away from places where bihari, marwadi or any other migrant population are found. the locals of raigad district are incredibly chill unlike elsewhere in india.
@@ashishtiwari1912 I have eaten in many restaurants and got sick from it. I hesitate to walk into any of them. Cleanliness and the owners business model means a lot to me.
@@Thankyou_3 maharashtrian cuisine is uncommon and maharashtrian restaurants are rare. but maharashtrian restaurants are usually very hygienic. you can take it easy and have a few good weeks if you eat from a good maharashtrian restaurant and you will be perfectly fine.
just a heads up, i don't think meat/poultry/fish is the main reason people felt sleepy, its probably because of spike of insulin due to heavy carb and sugar lunch. dont forget to do soleus pushup 30/45 min after meal to increase metabolic rate and normalize insulin level.
Puranpoli is not eaten with anything, like roti. Puran poli is eaten with gulavni or with milk. Gulavni is a liquid mix of jaggery , water and some cardamom. And if nothing is available you just eat it with ghee. It's not supposed to be eaten with spicy food. And yes it is a dessert
I wish the US was like this. Just chill, relaxed family owned restaurants/shops. Where people don't have to suffer consequences of not wearing some dumb uniform and have the stress of corporate corruption.
QSR or branded food chains in India are also similar to the one in States. Uniform, service charge, tips (not forced one lol) and they are generally not popular for healthy food.
