Bravo for this educational video. While I consider myself a very open-minded and accepting person, I don’t have anyone close to me who has transitioned so I find myself staying quiet so I don’t say the wrong thing. But I’m listening and leaning and am grateful for Ivy and others who are sharing their story. Beautiful like her momma! ❤❤
Congrats to the 3 of you for being vulnerable & so truthful to the public. I'd like this video to be shown in every high school, college, place of worship, sent to every tv talk show host, etc. "Kids™ young adults, adults should see the loving suport that your family has shown & is possible to others if they are willing to do the work. Kindness and compassion should be the new trend for 2025. Ivy, the world is your oyster!
The world needs more of this. Open, honest, vulnerable, loving conversation. Thank you so much for sharing. It takes such courage to put yourself and your feelings and your struggles out into the world for people to learn from. Sending much love to the whole family.
The honesty and vulnerability of this video is beautiful. This is clearly a family that supports the inner light of each other: whether it is fashion or gender identity. Blessings to you!!!!
I think dad has needed an outlet to speak his mental process & feelings for a minute. He did good. 👍🏼 I like seeing Ivy, the intellectual. It’s def her authentic self. Mom doing great mom things, as usual. Thanks for sharing. 🫶🏻
I have mentioned your channel and Ivy to my Mama. She said, that is a very courageous young woman. Mama will be 100 in December. I feel proud of her journey and send love and best hopes for all of her future.
This is absolutely beautiful. I am so touched by your care for each other, your honesty and your love. And I’m deeply grateful for this brave sharing and modeling. Ivy is so wise and so brave. Thank you so much for this important conversation!
Ivy's smile when her dad said he was proud of her. Michael's smile when Carla said she'd be miserable without him. Michaand Carla's smiles when Ivy said talking to them was a prerequisite for her emotional happiness.
When my daughter came out as gay. I was terrified! They gay murders were top of the news. All you want for your kid is happiness and safety! So afraid was top of the charts. But she was so much happier. Her life got bigger, she wasn't hiding anymore. It was freeing. Ivy has such great parents! She was raised wit such love. Go Ivy!
I'm only 3 minutes in but the open & honest communication that comes with compassion & understanding just blows me away. ❤️ I'm even more obsessed with you Carla! And ivy is such a smart, eloquent, beautiful woman! You can see just how proud you & Micheal are of her 🫶
That was such a generous conversation to have with us and thank you. Ivy you are so eloquent the way you explain how your feeling is wonderful. My son has been through difficult times and you are so right he should be allowed to have those times when he just has to feel those sad emotions being happy should not feel like a job. I’m like Michael about happiness I aim to just be and be grateful now that is something I have learnt at 62. I wish I was there to give you all a hug we could chat for hours… and Carla your just great 🤗❤️
What a fantastic video, the authenticity shines through for all of you. Ivy seems so settled and happy in her own skin - surely that's the most beautiful thing, and she's had your support to help her get there. So many people for all sorts of aspects of their life would benefit from caring compassionate and unconditional support like you've given Ivy ❤
"What the world needs now Is love, sweet love ..." ... and open-heartedness, which is what you're all demonstrating. With so much hatred and prejudice in the world, your acceptance of each other is a beautiful thing to see. Sending love, admiration and courage from Africa 🌍
My son was always a boy when I thought back, we just took a while to realise it, but he’s himself and he’s happy and it makes me so happy to see how Ivy is supported to be herself by your family ❤
Love to hear this! I’m so happy that Ivy has the support she needs to succeed 💗 Carla, you and your husband are the epitome of what every trans human needs. Adapting, understanding, and accepting. Ivy - I wish you the best in your college years, they can be so fun! 🫶🏻
This was AMAZING! Thank you all for your openness and honesty! Ivy is so articulate and wise. This will help SO MANY people. Truly a gift you are giving to others especially at this time ❤️
Cool Dad. Appreciate his honest feedback and feelings aloud. How cool for Ivy to look back on. Beautiful family. Such resemblance between mama and Ivy❤ Consistent compliments on my Sling bag 🎉🎉
It is very brave to put your family dynamics and vulnerability on display. Like mom, she knows she will not be able to protect her daughter forever -- especially as a transgender person. It's important for society to stand up and protect the vulnerable population. It is our responsibility.
Yes, we are literally our brothers’ keeper, as the saying goes-we are meant to support and love one another. And that doesn’t mean just our “tribe,” or people who are “like” us; it means ALL people-immigrants, the LGBTQ community, Palestinians, Jews, etc.
This conversation is so so very important especially given our current political climate. Thank you so much for sharing! And Ivy, I love love when you are on your mom's videos, you are so classy, elegant and have gotten your mom's eye for fashion! Superb, courageous and thoughtful!!
Especially in these reckless times of political upheaval, it is encouraging to see this honesty and bravery shared with the world. Your daughter is clearly a beautiful and intelligent person and a real product of good loving parenting. I hope this finds those souls who need a beacon of hope to feel good about themselves. This world is not easy nor understanding to nonconformity or minority. Rising above other’s lack of growth needs to be appreciated and applauded. Hearty standing ovation from my little corner of the world to you all.🎉🎉🎉🎉
What a beautiful conversation! Thank you for sharing this with us. Parenting is the toughest job in the world. You and your husband are doing an amazing job. Thank you for being an inspiration to me.
qué hermoso todo lo que estáis hablando, y sobre todo la manera en que lo estáis hablando... me emociona tanta honestidad y generosidad para comprender y compartir🥰 muchos besos desde cádiz🌊✨ españa♥️
Thank you all so so much for this… incredibly valuable and honest. Noticed how much comfort Ivy got from stroking the little dog when she found things tricky - great idea.
Ivy, you are insightful & intuitive (and sounded a bit Freudian 🧠). Thank you all for being so open & vulnerable in sharing your journey individually, and as a family. Love is love! 🏳️⚧️
This was so eye opening ❤ Thank you for talking about it and explaining in a calm collected manner. I understood so much and I can go forward with new insights. Thank you!
Thank you so much for posting this and supporting Ivy! My parents and I don’t speak anymore because of a similar situation… so many people say “but it’s your parents” like I want it to be this way, but never “that’s your kid” when they choose not to accept us. 😔 Thank you so much for showing the world what support and acceptance looks like. It’s not immediate, it’s not fake, it’s hard but it’s genuine! ❤
I think parents like in you situation also gets “thats your kid”, they just don’t hear it. It’sad when someone doesn’t have parents support, but I don’t think there’s much one csn do about it. It is them, not you.
Ivy presents and summarises the Three Mind States, just perfectly. She will go far. Good Luck Ivy, you are a credit to your authentic Self and because you have such open parents. X
What a loving, kind educational vid. Thank you Ivy for being so honest, Carla for posting, and Dad (whose’s name I don’t know) for your Dad questions, they were solid, and insightful. Blessings for a happy life, Ivy.
Thank you for sharing these vulnerable conversations. Sharing the individual conversations helps us love individuals and better understand the personal stories. I also love the grace that is given on all sides grandma is amazing and empathic and able to adjust quickly. Grandpa is given grace and time to work through his inability process the transition. Such a great conversation and example of ways to connect with the ones we love. Thank you for sharing.
What an absolute gift you all are!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for all that you shared in this video! I pray that many parents watch this video MULTIPLE times because there is so much to learn from you all. Ivy, your so amazing and smart. I love how you express yourself and your journey. It was so good to hear a male say he doesn't "think about happiness". That needed to be heard by all of us! Again, I am very thankful and grateful for what you have shared with us all! Love and Blessings to All!!! ❤❤❤
So true about how we see ourselves. My father always acted like we were the prettiest and smartest. My mother put emphasis on the importance of what was inside our head, not in the mirror. Looking back, I think I looked gorgeous. Wish I had appreciated it in real time. But I faked self confidence like my life depended on it. Now I realize nobody cares, everybody is worried about themselves. We should be kinder to ourselves at every age.
I just want to voice my love and support for this video and its message. I can see that Ivy is an old soul, and old souls often have hard journeys, as they’ve incarnated to help others learn lessons of compassion and empathy. It would be very interesting to see Ivy’s birth chart. 😊 I understand that decisions like the one Speaker Johnson made today come from a place of fear and separation (the root cause of all hateful actions). At the same time, that fear and prejudice is so alien to me. I would say to those who identify as Christians: If the Christ were asked about trans people using the gender bathroom with which they identify, he would ABSOLUTELY say they should be able to. We each have a different journey, but we are also all of one whole, and loving and supporting each other lifts up the consciousness of the whole world. I wish everyone could realize that.
Ivy will never know, cause its her normal, how incredibly blessed she is to have her parents My life would be completely different if i had parents that love me for being myself
Thank you so much for sharing this honest , compassionate, loving family discussion. You’ve helped me as a parent and grandparent struggling with anxiety and worry over the everyone’s future happiness. Keep talking and listening and learning is as you said the key. Thank you all and especially Ivy for your strength and wisdom beyond years. X
Thank you for being so open and vulnerable about your family’s journey. Our youngest came out at 13. We were so proud of them living their truth. At 15 they came out as non-binary, that’s when the fear really hit me. I’m in awe of the strength, courage and honesty in which they live their life. I’m so glad we’re in Canada because I don’t think they would be very safe in the US. Stay safe.
What a welcome, needed insightful video... Thank you. Such a delight to see a family sharing and discussing heartfelt issues... Your family has set the bar so high.....This openness without anger is needed in all families...no matter the issues at hand...
I love your husband’s honesty and his love for his family! Ivy is a very special leader, leading the way for sone that don’t understand. I understand, but she’s helping the ones that don’t. The world is changing and Ivy is helping to lead the way 👏👏👏
Thankyou Ivy… you’re so clear and very evolved for your age. I love hearing you and your family discuss your hardships and of course your happiness. You are lucky to have such supportive parents…. So nice to hear people having real conversations. ❤
I've watched a couple of videos with the two of you, mother and daughter. I didn't know she was transitioning. I thought she was born female. Ivy, I wish you all the happiness in the world! Carla, you and your whole family rock!
This is beautiful. I am so grateful to and for young women who are able to have vulnerable conversations with their fathers (parents) and that their fathers (parents) want them to understand that they are loved and supported. I craved it at her age. Thank you for showing me what kind of relationship I want with my daughter.
Thank you for sharing your candid family discussion. The answer is always more communication and success is a child feeling they always have a home with their family. No matter what. 🙏🏻
I love you are so open . My older daughter and her wife are very girly / fashion trendy and people can’t believe that these 2 beautiful girls are gay. You are who you are and love who you love. Happy to see Ivy is happy and in the end that is the only thing that matters❤
Well that was just beautiful to see 😍. Ivy you are so fortunate to have such loving and supportive parents. You are such an eloquent and well spoken, level headed young person, your parents can be super proud of the wonderful human they have raised. My daughter is about to turn 10, and she up until now talks to us about everything, I know when something is bothering her because she comes up to me and buries her head into my torso, she gets a big hug and a kiss on top of her head and then I ask if she wants to talk to me? Sometimes she just needs the physical closeness of mom, but eventually she always opens up, i hope that as she grows up and I became less important in her life, that she will always feel comfortable talking to me.
Thank you for speaking so openly and vulnerably. Your family is beautiful. I still have my reasons for disagreeing, and yet, I think the most important thing we all have to embrace as fellow humans is kindness and respect towards each other, and that we each have freewill and the right to choose. We need to be able to discuss things respectfully. No one should be in danger of being physically or verbally attacked, just open discussions and respect for each other as human beings. God bless you guys, you have so much courage ❤
Thank you, thank you, thank you and blessings to each one of you. My journey is similar, my heart is full, our unwavering love and acceptance is what defines our children’s future.❤️
Ivy is such a lovely young woman and when Carla mentioned her transition I thought for sure she meant something else, I hope that sounds as complimentary as I mean it. I only found your channel in the last year and every time Ivy is in your videos she makes me smile with her smile and her effervescence. Thank you for sharing your lives with us this way.
This is like the best interview ever it makes me so jealous cuz my fam isn't like this but uuggg it's magical to see a mom who is trying to help her doll daughter out
Our family friend transgendered in the early 80's, I was lucky to see how my parents used love as a tool to overcome other people's ignorance. How is Ivy coping with campus disruption to do with antisemitism? I imagine that she is wonderful and strong as her parents. Much love to you all and especially Ivy ❤
You guys are amazing putting this out there. Ivy and dad communicating about their relationship with each other thru/ with Carla rather than directly to each other. I mean dad and ivy talked about each other in third person not to each other. Im not criticising just observing……. It can be very positive experience hearing someone talk about their thoughts and feelings about u. Maybe you two felt u were being interviewed by Carla because it’s her channel. Very caring and loving and supportive family time ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you all for doing this video. I believe that it will help many others to come a little closer to understanding. It describes the point in the journey where you all are at in this moment. I understand the fear that accompanies the changes that are unfolding in your lives, and it is a valid, real video that doesn’t raise fear or sugarcoat things. Thank you all! It is a brave discussion.
I love this! My husband slips up but we immediately correct him and he apologizes and we move on knowing it will happen again but hoping it doesn’t. He needs grace. We know he isn’t as flexible. Post menopause I came out as non binary. I have always been in the gender middle and as a mezzo soprano, cast as a boy. It was a life of extreme gender fluidity. I don’t care what pronoun folks use with me but my daughter is she.
Thank you, can't even express how your family honesty and yes, bravery has made a difference today. I'm saving and saying thank you for letting our family feel not so alone by sharing yours. Not gonna a lie not on the bingo card but thinking we won the lottery 🎉
So wonderful of the three of you to share Ivy’s journey. As the grandmother of a trans granddaughter the pronouns are still hard for me not because I don’t understand but it’s still all too new and I forget🙂
Listening to Ivy is so inspiring! And it's funny because my kids always tell me I look like you but I realized in this video that mentally I am very close to Michael 🤣 His philosophy regarding happiness is exactly how I feel.
I find it interesting that Ivy thought she would have an easier time in a more liberal space, yet has found it difficult still. There are many non-liberals that are accepting of people to be their authentic selves. It’s unfortunate that society has us believe otherwise. Hugs to you all ❤
Wow you said so much in a short time transitioning isn’t easy life isn’t easy and supporting and understanding your kid is key. Thank you for sharing your life with us!
I had no idea Ivy was trans. Love you all so much. Modelling this behaviour for the world will change the world. Also I love that you bleeped Ivy’s dead name. Wow you guys are incredible parents and people.
Bravo for this educational video. Even Carla and Ivy’s mannerisms mirror each other; so mother & daughter. Thank you for speaking and sharing and for your bravery in today’s world.
The honesty and vulnerability of this video is beautiful. This is clearly a family that supports the inner light of each other: whether it is fashion or gender identity. Blessings to you!!!!
So beautiful to see a family communicating successfully and really coming together as a loving & empathic support system! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE THIS! ❤❤❤

Thank you for the kind words and joining us ❤️
Ivy should write a book. She could really help a lot of other people. I could tell she has a lot more to say❤
I agree ❤️ She is an amazing writer too.
Or a podcast could be a great space too.
I have mentioned your channel and Ivy to my Mama. She said, that is a very courageous young woman. Mama will be 100 in December. I feel proud of her journey and send love and best hopes for all of her future.

Interesting to hear your hubby’s process. Ivy’s vocabulary and communication skills speak volumes about her old soul. Kudos all.
Thank you so much ❤️ So proud of my beautiful family.
Absolutely
Excellent, beautiful. X
I can’t believe Ivy is only twenty. She is an intelligent, well-spoken young woman.
I enjoyed this family sit-down. Thank you. ❤

Consistent compliments on my Sling bag 🎉🎉
MY HEART IS SO WARM WATCHING THIS!!! What a special and beautiful video ❤ thank you for making it and everyone's vulnerability.

Thank you for sharing. This is such an important video. I have an 18 year old Trans male. This makes me feel less alone.
How very brave of you to talk about this on your platform. What beautiful parents. And Ivy is so incredibly bright, articulate and strong. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for posting this and supporting Ivy! What a loving, kind educational vid. Thank you Ivy for being so honest, Carla for posting, and Dad (whose’s name I don’t know) for your Dad questions, they were solid, and insightful. Blessings for a happy life, Ivy.

Keep it authentic and honest. When people see the struggles of even accepting families it helps
Absolutely.
What an insightful and intelligent young woman. Ivy has raised wonderful parents.
Thank you, thank you, thank you and blessings to each one of you. My journey is similar, my heart is full, our unwavering love and acceptance is what defines our children’s future.❤️
Such a beautiful, honest, inspiring, and informative conversation. Thank you for sharing this. Blessings to you all! 🙏
This is so important!
Yep🙌❤️
Fascinating to hear your family's story. Thank you for sharing
Brilliant! It is a master class for all parents and teen children demonstrating a loving, constructive, respectful family discussion.
Here to help❤️ We are still learning over here too.
Deep gratitude for this video. Love and light to you all 🩷
Fantastic sharing for the age we living in..a big Thanku to this very loving and amazing family .❤
This was 31:22 of freedom and joy and love in these insane times. Thank you for being such great parents and having this conversation.
This was an amazing example of family love, openness and honesty in a way hardly seen anymore. Kudos to you for that and for your bravery to do so.
A great video. Ivy is a thoughtful and eloquent speaking young lady and it is a blessing that she has such accepting and caring parents
What a beautiful and supportive family! ❤❤❤
It makes sense that your dad couldn't compute.
Sending much love to you all!! Thank you for sharing all the journey!!!😘😘😘😘
Thank you for sharing your family with us. Ivy you're precious.
Thank you, can't even express how your family honesty and yes, bravery has made a difference today. I'm saving and saying thank you for letting our family feel not so alone by sharing yours. Not gonna a lie not on the bingo card but thinking we won the lottery 🎉
Your message makes it all worth it XOXO
So wonderful of the three of you to share Ivy’s journey. As the grandmother of a trans granddaughter the pronouns are still hard for me not because I don’t understand but it’s still all too new and I forget🙂
and that is okay! Thank you for being open to learning ❤️
I love all three of you! You are wonderful people!
Thank you ❤️🥰
Such a lovely video! I appreciate this conversation to help guide me in life.❤
Thank you for sharing this with us!
It's important for me to speak on what matters ❤️
Wow Carla. Can you all do more of these closet talks? Very enlightening. Thanks for sharing.
You are an amazing Family! Ivy is bright and beautiful and going to help a lot of others. Michael is the kindest, loveliest human!
Listening to Ivy is so inspiring! And it's funny because my kids always tell me I look like you but I realized in this video that mentally I am very close to Michael 🤣 His philosophy regarding happiness is exactly how I feel.
Love that! Hey twin lol😂❤️
