I LOVE THIS SONG ! I can’t stop listening over and over again, louder each time. Brings back feelings of innocence, memories. This was a good era in music. The harmony back then was perfection. I’m really emotional right now. I want to be back in that place, in that time.

Great Harmony and I just really love the lyrics written by Sherman Kelly after himself and his partner escaped deadly attacks by 5 thugs (homo sapiens) on a beach at night in the Virgin Islands! Great song to celebrate life! Thanks Orleans and Sherman Kelly for writing and singing such a beautiful song!
@@maryloutravis7102 YES ~I just learned of the his incredible loving spirit, so now, In his honor I sing it, just karaoke here, though I want to sing it out into the universe. Sitting on a park bench, just walking down the street, this needs to be the energy of not a wish, a reality for me at least for the world I have in mind of my own experience in a club, where this existed and now out into this whole world. peace love music ~
I'm 75 born in 1949. Pers 3:56 onally, I feel I'm the luckiest guy to grown up in the 50s 60s and then started my family in the 70s. All that time I got to enjoy the BEST music that was sung by the most talented musicians. Here is a great example of what I'm talking about. True talent is eternal. 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Loved it when it came out! Searched unsuccessfully for years to find it on vinyl. Prayers were answered when CDs made their debut. Still play it quite often. For me, I see werewolves dancing in the forest under a full moon.
Those harmonies are just perfect. That's not easy to do live, especially while playing instruments. I know that's kind of Orleans' 'thing' but that doesn't make it any less remarkable.
Well, this reminds me of Larry, and the early days of Orleans as a trio. Orleans’ version was the first I heard of this song and it rocked. But you can’t keep a good song down; Sherman Kelly got the hit via King Harvest (I love it when songwriters get paid!) and the song lives on with Orleans. RIP Larry Hoppen and Wells Kelly; long live John Hall & Lance Hoppen. Let there be music!
I love this arrangement. Lance handling the opening verse, with John taking over on the second. Then Dennis joins in on the chorus for that classic Orleans vocal blend. After the musical break, Lane's raspy tenor brings it all home on the third. I could almost see Larry, rest his soul, smiling down in approval and eager to join in on those glorious harmonies.
When I was younger with my Sister and Nieces on Merry Meeting Bay on the Kennebec River in Sagadahoc County Maine we could sit for hours...cant do it anymore but we all still love this....probably a song at my funeral in Bath Maine!
This song was played by my school band on are leavers day this year and it was pure vibes all the year got up and random people came up to the front dancing them the best all surrounded them while I sat in the band carried on playing
A cover? Technically perhaps but lets drill down a bit. "Dancing in the Moonlight" was written by Sherman Kelly, brother of Orleans founding member, Wells Kelly, who was also in King Harvest. Before Harvest had their hit, the song was recorded by the band Boffalongo, of which Orlean's lead singer Larry Hoppen was a founding member. IMO Orleans has as much a claim to "Dancing in the Moonlight" as King Harvest.
“Yep” to what sprague49 wrote - I heard Orleans version first and while I always liked the King Harvest release, I’ve always thought of their version as the cover. (I hadn’t heard Buffalongo’s version before Orleans so...)
The harmonies are so perfect it would please every surviving member of The Eagles, Mamas and the Papas, CSN&Y and even Simon AND Garfunkel. Kudos, King Harvest !!! A great rendition of your unbelievably great song. I've always wanted to make this the closing credits song to a terrifying horror movie. The movie ends, the audience is exhausted by all the fear they watched, the screen goes black, the credits start and this wonderful song comes on in a tongue-in-cheek shift in emotions. Then again, Maybe I just watched too much Tarantino, Coen Bros, Scorcese and PT Anderson movies in my younger years.
72 yrs old and my wife and I still love to sing and dance to this around the house …
Some songs just span decades and more !!! Love this !!
How sweet not to many married couples sing and dance around the house any more pluse this is a good song to sing and dance ❤️

Would be happy to be in those times again.
This song always brings tears to my eyes wondering why the message in this song can't be embraced by all of humanity
you do know it was written because of a massive brutal attack and rape, right?? THAT is your humanity.

Shocking how they still kept their voices working because most singers voices decline because of natural aging but they're still going its amazing
Love this song 💓 they just keep getting better! Thank you so much for the memories 💝
