    Sorry about the camera’s focus hunting! Got a video monitor now to see stuff like that before filming the whole thing 😅

    Your desk just sounds way more 3D and has nice depth

      Luckily! The plug-in had me worried there for a bit 😁 Thanks for watching!

    this is one of the best mastering comparisons i've seen. You obviously have great analog mastering knowledge, thanks for posting this.
    I have a question about the masterdesk pro, I currenty use the regular masterdesk. I noticed you kept the main "Volume" knob close to "0" but you used the "turbo" knob in the limiter section for more limiting volume. Is there a reason for that?

      Glad you liked it! No, there’s not really a reason, I was just playing around with the plug-in really.
      I thought the turbo mode was similar to the bx_xl and I just used the trim to prevent it to go to 0. But I’ve also had a limiter on the very end for the video. Thanks for watching!

      I agree. Instant subscribe. I bought the Masterdesk Pro which is why I'm here. This was the BEST mastering session I've ever watched. No need to repost the sentiment. My respect for Mastering Engineers and this gentleman went up by 1000%. I'm just a musician trying to do what I can within my limitations. I guess, I'll be thinking of this video every time I use Masterdesk. 😂

    Zero separation in the lows with the BX, compared to the analog which had tons of separation and a more organic punch

    Just found this video, the plugin has a small lift on the high frequencies by default, i dont know if this is a bug or not but i checked it with plugin doc and i saw a small high shelf lift starting around 6-7 k i think, and the tone section behaves like a pultec

      Right on! Yeah, I remember the high end lift for sure. I think many plugins do something right away, so you immediately feel the gratification of using it. 0.2db volume output by default and we go “oh yes, so much more width and depth and mojo” 😆

    Sorry to upset you but there isn't much to choose between the two. 😎

    I think the analog master wins in any scenario, but I think it's unfair to compare a plugin only to an entire analog chain. I believe that with more hardware emulation plugins the ITB master would be better and the difference would be smaller

    • @illusiaproductions
      @illusiaproductions  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fully agree! I meant it in the video when I said it feels unfair 😅 Though, the plug-in covers pretty much what my desk covers; compression, EQ, M/S-width, saturation, color and clipping and it’s advertised as high end master chain. So I guess I shouldn’t feel that bad for comparing them? 😁🤷🏼‍♂️ Thanks for tuning in!

      @@illusiaproductions Oh!! For sure! Nothing wrong with your metodology in this video. I just wanted to point out that despite promising to do all these functions, it's practically impossible for just one plugin to do them all well. But it's still a great tool for ITB poor guys like me Lol

    • @dillpereira250
      @dillpereira250 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes you need to try more things ITB than the equivalent in hardware to make things sound better. The way of working is quite different

      @@dillpereira250 100%! They're indeed different workflows. Which is why I make use of both worlds, because they both have their pro's and con's.

      But the plugin has the feature set of like 4-5 pieces of hardware into one plugin -- which, I thought, was the point of this plugin, to be a one-and-done, fully featured plugin for mix buss/mastering applications. In regards to that, it should be able to replace a full mixing/mastering chain -- analog or digital -- so I believe the point of this plugin is to directly compare to such a chain, whether it's analog or digital. Either way, this doesn't compare to most analog chains I've encountered, and probably digital as well. I run hybrid, with analog chains for all my main busses, and yeah... this doesn't compare closely to any chain I've employed in my work. I like PA and BX, but yeah, this doesn't come close in my opinion.
