Textbook landing, the handling of this 340 bird was done with real skill an perfection. Making Trinidad and Tobago Proud. The pan design on the tail really looks great indeed.
One of my favorite plane videos love the landing. As a child in Trinidad was so excited to fly on bwee to come to usa. Also my dad was security guard at Piarco and loved watching planes land when he would take me.
Seemed like a nice touchdown with a good flare and soft landing. I'm guessing he was using the airframe to create drag and hence slow the aircraft which is why the nose was late settling down.
awesome video, i go there alot at manchester i wish BWIA would continue flying long haul flights:( That looked a pretty good landing, never known any plane to keep the front wheel up so long and while travelling so slow by that time
If you have winds right on rwy heading then no problem...you can even use the reversers with the nose wheel up. The problem is if an engin failure occures then having the nose wheel on the rwy would help to keep directional control. But this is just a perfect landing!
It comes from the air rushing past a planes wings. If you ever looked closely at a planes wing you would see that the top is curved. This slows down the air going over the wings. The bottom is flat letting the air smoothly flow under the wings. This creates lift allowing the plane to stay in the air. A plane does need to reach a certain speed to make this happen but it varies with the weight of the plane. My dream is to become a pilot. I do as much research on planes as I can.
look, only west Indian Pilots. Set of the hardest Pilots round d place. Classy to the end. All Timing and precision, he knew what he waz doin from the moment he got established. truely a classy landing. no A340 landin better than that.
That's awesome! What airport is this? Is it Manchester? I thought it was Toronto Pearson at first because the have a 06L/R as well. Thanks for sharing.
i wish there were more planes like that landing in bwi. we have very long runways which are going to waste. the biggest plane i have seen in bwi was a MD-11. id like to see 747's,340's,777's,380's!
I am 14, and my mind is made up, nothing will stop me from becoming a pilot and/or baseball player. That is where my name comes from. I love planes and my favorite baseball team is the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Nothing wrong with the landing. In the touchdown zone, down the center line. Perhpas the flare was a bit excessive but from what I can see he pretty much greased it.
hmm, yes. But on landing, also, weight is being held by the wings - if it wasn't, you wouldn't be able to keep the nose up! But I see what you are saying.
BWIA driver showing off for the cameras, man. Nice one.

This is neither a good nor a bad landing. Its fucking perfect!
Excellent landing!!! Very good slope and the hover just above the runway before the reversers deployed, beautiful, simply elegant!!
Damn that was sweet. Reversers deployed way before the nose wheel touched.
One of my favorite plane videos love the landing. As a child in Trinidad was so excited to fly on bwee to come to usa. Also my dad was security guard at Piarco and loved watching planes land when he would take me.
Very nice and smooth landing. Amazing that the pilots kept the nose up below 100 knots per hour speed...
WOW!!! PERFECT!!! BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL!!!! BEST LANDING EVER!!!

I've never seen a landing like that. That was really good. Very soft landing.
I say this was a fair landing, because he pulled off a semi-bounce at the end. But it was smooth.
That saves the brakes to flare it like that. Great landing!!
one of the best 1340 landing ive seen if not the best
A masterful landing. Kept the nose up as long as possible on purpose for more drag to reduce brake wear.
Great landing. Those RR engines are SO small on a frame so large.
beautiful! nice and soft and help the nose up to bleed off speed. good pilots!
really a beautiful landing, smooth and peaceful!
Beautiful!

But this is just a perfect landing!
real smooth , beautiful landing
yeah best landing i've ever seen. smoothly! takes a very skilled pilot to do that!
That's a smooth pilot.....bet he had a glass of moet the whole time.....and a well rolled cuban.
one of the best a340 landing ive ever seen
Very Smooth Landing
Perfect use of aerodynamic braking.
this was great landing, came in at a low speed and touched down softly.
Been on an a340 to beijing and we touched the smoothest i have ever done on any other airliner jet. On both legs aswell!!
perfect. i'd want to be in a plane with a pilot like that everytime even though the nose took a little longer to hit the ground
WTF,what an incredible job!
the wheel formation always makes them look so soft
when you can land LIKE THAT!!! YOU HAVE SKILLS!!! Hope I get that good one day... 5/5 stars
He should have tried to keep the nose up all the way to the gate.
best A340 landing i've seen
ok landing- that is PERFECT
Good; he hit the touchdown marks perfectly.
What a landing! But i have to say that the camera man is a very good too!
That is one hell of a landing!!!!
nice landing, that was especially for you from the pilots! :-)
omg I am watching this over and over again like a nerd!
a VERY good landing. im surprised that the pilots were able to keep the nose gear off the ground for that long!
The winglets save fuel. They catch air that would normally escape off of the ends of the wings helping with lift on the plane.

Amazing Video, Great Landing
@TheBadameco Checked that one out. Pretty much the same degree of perfection.
look, only west Indian Pilots. Set of the hardest Pilots round d place. Classy to the end. All Timing and precision, he knew what he waz doin from the moment he got established. truely a classy landing. no A340 landin better than that.
Fucking awesome landing, never seen the nose stay up for so long, Fantastic!
either a masterful pilot stunt or a very, very heavy passenger seated in the back
That's awesome! What airport is this? Is it Manchester? I thought it was Toronto Pearson at first because the have a 06L/R as well. Thanks for sharing.
credits to the pilot - he is a real master!!!
wow nice smooth landing
A truly great landing.
Que lindo!!! Greetings from buenos aires!!!
tis a shame that we dont get A340's landing at manchester anymore :( Used to have BWIA and Air Jamaca operating there.
that is aerodynamic breaking
i wish there were more planes like that landing in bwi. we have very long runways which are going to waste. the biggest plane i have seen in bwi was a MD-11. id like to see 747's,340's,777's,380's!
absolute perfection :)
best landing ive ever seen dont know what some of u are talking about
I'm sure it can handle it. If it can handle a rotation on takeoff when the aircraft is much heavier than on landing, i'm sure it'll be fine with this.
i want to see some hard a340 landings all the ones i see are greasers nice wheelie by the pilots
as Pilot thats a perfect landing! most of the airliners dont even land like this these days! They landed hard and use air brakes hard.
best landing i've seen. ever!
Very Nice! Smooth!
never saw them but i will miss them
very smooth!
LOOL this guy is elite!!!
the best I ever saw
My favorite aircraft A340.
nice flare while still far from touch down. followed by slow reduction of angle on to touch down. very very careful pilot!
oh i see, thanks for the information
best wishes
definatly the best landing i have ever seen....
so so smooth
the nose was up a little to long after the main gear touched the ground
good landing! but a very high and loooong flare!...still good! :)
Coming from a fellow pilot, thats was a greaser!
damn good landing if you ask me
Nice one
wonderful landing
that takes a lot of skill to do
Amazing landing ;O
great landing !5 stars
I am 14, and my mind is made up, nothing will stop me from becoming a pilot and/or baseball player. That is where my name comes from. I love planes and my favorite baseball team is the Pittsburgh Pirates.
wow pretty bird 8D
can anyone please explain to me what for thoose wingtips in the plane?
this is a perfect landing!!

RedSox thats good answer ... Thats A good landing ... ^_^
smooth
thats Caribbean Airlines, the former BWIA West Indies.
best pilot
Perfect!
Excellent Landing. I know that your not supposed to flare to much w/A340 because of the danger of a tailstrike.
hmm, yes. But on landing, also, weight is being held by the wings - if it wasn't, you wouldn't be able to keep the nose up! But I see what you are saying.
it was beautiful
amazing
Breathtaking! (autoland would not land like this, btw)
that was amazing haha he tipptoed it haha sweet!!
thats the pilot i want on my flights :P
nice landing
quite good, held the front long enuff.
keep up d detemination.
all d best.
GO FOR IT.
My right ear liked this :D
