Hi, Kindly, could you please give more details how you added more ambient colors. Please give more details how to do it with E-sys. I have bimmercode and it does not give such option. Your help would be greatly appreciated. thanks,
Look for Ambiente_Farbe in e-sys under the body module. After 2017 or so it’s hard coded in the cars firmware so you can’t change it. They updated my I Level and I can no longer code it as it was hard coded in.
Thank you so much for your quick response. Could you please tell me good source to download e-sys from. I don’t want to risk downloading wrong app. I have bimmercode but it does not give me such option. Thanks!!!
Configured my ambient lights on my 2014 X5 using bimmercode in expert mode, there are about 15 or so different colors. The process in not too difficult.
Body Domain Controller (BCD) -> once it is loaded hit “expert mode” on the bottom. In expert mode scroll to 3070 LciMaster. In 3070 scroll down to GROUP_0_FABRE_ENSEMBLE_1, this the the first colors group normally represented in your iDrive menu. In my car there are total of 9 groups (9 normal selections of color combinations), each group contains 8 layers. I messed only with the last group #8, since the color changes you configure won’t match your normal menu descriptions in iDrive and I still wanted to keep most of the selections intact. So, in my car “GROUP_0_FABRE_ENSEMBLE_8” represented the dome light color (I picked orange), LAYER_1 is LED strips on the doors (violet), LAYER_2 is another light on door panel (red), LAYER_3 is floor light (blue). LAYER_4 thru 8 are inactive. You gonna have to read German for your color selections. Before selecting the desired colors I compared the selections with menu in iDrive just to make sure I was in the right group. Hope it helps.
I'm not sure but when I was in the code it did appear there was programming for color lighting to powertrain mode but I think that's reserved for future use or possible in an "i" car.
Hello Scott, Can you please share the color codes( werte values) you used. I couldn’t find the codes for that colors on the net. Also i have 8 layers for each group. Any idea should i change them all?
Useful links i have found: f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1235702 - this one has a spreadsheet that a user made that shows most (if not all) of the settings, their defaults and his changes) www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=983245 - good primer for beginners or those needing more context or background So in the ambient lighting you have the built in colors....orange, white, blue (not sure of the order off the top of my head), then the combos...blue/white/blue etc. There are 9 total color groups with up to 3 settings per group. GROUP_0_FABRE_ENSEMBLE_1(thru9) and a Ambient Layer1, 2, 3 under each one. The group is the Dome light, Layer 1 is the dashboard strip, Layer 2 is the inner door handle, Layer 3 is the floor. Here are the colors: Green (gruen) Pink Purple (lila) Violett, Ivory_dynamic_blue (elfenbein_dynamisches_blau or eff_dyn_blau), light/bright blue (hellblau) yellow (gelb) ice blue (eisblau) turquoise (tuerkis) light/bright green (hellgruen) orange light/bright red (hellrot) white (weiss)) Some sites spell german colors differently...i have seen green spelled 2 different ways. My understanding is you cannot change the color description in the menu..ie the name of the 9 groups...but you can change the actual colors. So if you change 9 to purple, it wont say purple in the menu but will show purple when you select it...after coding of course. This is all information i have gleaned from 10 + forums. Hopefully it helps the new people get started. I personally use bimmercode for IOS. ***Code at your own risk.****
+DragonDreaq If it has the ambient lighting package or it already displays Orange, Blue, and White I would say it can because it’s likely a RGBW LED light strip in the car, capable of producing any color.
@@aaryamankapri9648 I've got a 2014. I believe the iDrive got an update in 2017 or 2018. It also depends on homologation of cars to specific countries. EU cars get more features as they are more lax on security/litigation than US/NA. So we don't get closing tailgates via remote etc. 2018 saw the launch of the G05, I assume you have the F15?
What tools are you using to code? I've been doing some research and it seems like there are a few out there but I'm having a tough time finding advice on what the best one is. Also, do you have any videos on best practices while programming? Thanks in advance
E-Sys and the Ethernet to OBD cable. If you follow this link/guide it mentions the best practices and which features to turn off in the app before coding and what buttons to avoid. www.bmwesys.com/guides/Beginners%20Guide%20Coding.pdf
Don't really need a video, or even advanced knowledge of anything other than eyeballs & an understanding of English (instead of German). Just get a bluetooth ODB adapter & the Bimmercode app & select whatever it is you want to change & hit 'code'. This stuff is insanely simple...but remember you can't just turn a lot of this stuff one, you have to have the right hardware/factory options for a lot of it.
The codes are found within each body module representative of that function. Googling F15 coding cheat sheet or other body styles will yield what the enthusiasts have found via trial and error.

They were tinted prior but they’re 11 in the rear and 18 in the front.

I couldn't find the folding mirror option
It should be there some where

i want that ambient lighting, love the purple. Why don't they just give us that option like other manufacturers?
My hunch is that they are saving it for the mid cycle refresh model - Life Cycle Impulse (LCI model)
Nice, is it possible to sync the ambient color to the digital cluster and driving mode? red for sport, blue for eco, etc. Thank you!
