What's amazing on this ride besides its long history is that going up is so different from the way down, to me anyway, you get to see different things each way and I bet the more you go on it the more you notice different things you missed previously. I'm glad we went to the top with the incline instead of driving. Must be a great ride for young couples too:) Your son has good taste.

As a child me and my family used to live right across the street from the railway on the side of the lookout mountain. the area has special meaning. I want to visit again so bad. it is so beautiful there. The front door faced the street facing the railway & the back deck looked out over mountain Cliff
The Lookout Mountain Incline Railway in St Elmo, just outside Chattanooga TN is a ride that starts at the bottom and climbs up through the natural beauty surrounding the historic Lookout Mountain at a breathtaking 72.7% grade, ending at the top of this scenic mountain where you can explore some historic sites and the beauty of the Tennessee river valley. to be continued on the next video.
Thank you for your comment Sorin, Railroads are in every continent that has people and was the first mass transportation and the fastest on earth at that time, to the people back then it was like the automobile and airplane of the 20th century to us.
We rode the incline in the 70’s on a family vacation. Was so cool then as a teenager, would love to see it again as an adult. Thanks for taking us along
Thanks for sharing that with us. Our first time there was in 2004 with my young kinds now retracting back with my grand kids and loving it. Looking forward to staying in touch guys. Have a great weekend.
Thanks for the comment My friend. It certainly a great place to visit and hours of footage to sort out LOL. But great memories for the family. Thanks again and have a great week my friend.
Watching and enjoying your journey on this impressive incline railway as I make my way through your RV TRIPS - Sceneries and Events playlist. Great views from the top. Thank you for sharing my friend.
I used to work at the Incline Railway. It’s one of the best tourist attractions in the city. Taking the ride on a clear day is incredible. At the top you can see seven states and even the Smoky Mountains to the east. Check it out!
this is 3 years ago I just watched this amazing video. I remember when my grandma took me on an incline in Pittsburgh. this one in Chattanooga Tennessee look's way better to be honest.
Chattanooga Tennessee by itself just sounds good, wow going up a mountain like that is incredible...always love the video and audio quality and presentation of your videos, I have a long way to go...Well done...
Thank you for the visit Rick and Lisa very nice to meet you. This area in Chattanooga Tennessee is very nice, you will like I'm sure. Have a great day and see you around.
Thank you for your kind comment Chris, I enjoy sharing places of our great country and try to do them justice the best way I can. The real Historic place is at the top of this mountain where they uniquely memorialize the fallen Heroes of the civil war from both sides. Thanks again Chris.
WOW! A great video of the incline railway. You even get a wonderful person, telling the story of the incline on the way up of down the mountain. If you go up the mountain, you get a fantastic view of Chattanooga, even you have the viewers that you can look into and see, too. It’s a great attraction and I would highly recommend it.
Great video thanks brother. I like the ride along with you all. I will be looking forward to the other video. Keep up the great work see you in the next video thanks again brother
Those are so cool to ride. There was one I rode in Crolles France called the Funicular, this video brought back memories of that ride. Thanks for sharing John! Like+
Thanks De Eagle, I try to make them as short as possible but there's so much to to show and mention it's a shame to cut it all out, especially when a visitor is trying to get an idea of what to see and do. The top of the mountain has all the history and did not want to mix it with the ride. To be continued.... have a great weekend my friend.
thanks for sharing. going down would you suggest we sit in middle /front/back if I do not enjoy motion (get motion sickness LOL) and you mentioned the battle of chattanooga at top there is a museum? from top incline train you can see museum before riding train back? or is that a complete different tour? how long does that ride take, after you view observation top, then returning back, I recall 15min up/back so 45min enough ? thx
For motion sickness I would sit in the back. The Museum battle of Chattanooga and park are 2 separate, if in a rush I would do the park. This video link shows both: studio.th-cam.com/users/videou_JioqNV8RA/edit It's a beautiful park overlooking Chattanooga and lots of history. The museum is really interesting and gives you some time to cool off in the AC. All together we spent 3 hours there but we took our time had lunch, Ice Cream and enjoyed some of the old homes in the area on the walk back to the Incline tram. Hope you have a great time.
Very nice ride John. We have been to Lookout Mountain many times but have never taken the incline railway. Guess, we will have to put that on our list.
That is a near insane incline on something designed so many years ago. On another note, I love how your videos always have so much information about the area your showing. Always informative and interesting to watch, bravo.
There is history behind everything and every place that’s what makes it interesting to us. Thanks for the kind comment we appreciate it. To be continued.......
Despite living just outside Chattanooga for 2 years, I didn't know this incline railway existed. The view from the top of the mountain is great isn't it. The ride looked fun, and a good way to get up to the top!
This ride was to cool to include in another video of the civil war memorial on top of the mountain. Amazing how they use to automate without the help of new tech we have today. thanks for coming along Robert, I always appreciate your comments and support.
Story well told and edited as well as narration, worth the ride to the top for sure a little steep fro someone afraid of heights, my biggest fear lol great video John
Wow, that's pretty incredible! Those views! Your narrating is so well done always, a wealth of knowledge on all these attractions you visit. I'll probably never get to go to half these sites so really appreciate you taking us along and giving a realistic view. Well done as always, excited to see you've been very busy & can't wait to get caught up on it all.
