      Unless you want to spend $10,000 for a real one. LOL And then you get it, and it needs $3000 of work to get it to turn on.

    That's the way reviews should be done. All the talking is relevant, no fluff, fast moving, critical, lots of good playing, comparisons, etc....congrats! :-)
    Only criticism, maybe a bit more concise. Instead of 18 min, bring it down to sub 10 min ;-)

    Great demo. I was thinking of getting one of these. My first thought looking at the video was this was just like a Timmy and then I see in the comments that it is a Timmy clone. Since I already have a Timmy I won’t need this. Regardless, a great demo and great playing on your part.

    Man I appreciate you! It is refreshing to see an I bought this review with great production so I can really hear what the pedal is doing. I can remember when a time seems like way back when most reviews on TH-cam were someone who actually bought the pedal. The unfortunate thing about back then was production and sound quality was not so good. You got an honest opinion, but not a great sample of tone. Today in the world of paid advertising posing as pedal reviews you will really stand out if you keep this format up. Thanks again definitely hitting subscribe.

    After messing around with a looper and switching from bass to guitar to keyboard. I found out that this pedal is the best bass guitar pre amp/eq I've ever owned. It's got a frequency that cuts through, has high end bass amp growl, without being harsh. I can't believe it really.

    • @thiscorrosion900
      @thiscorrosion900 ปีที่แล้ว

      Shouldn't the Blues Deluxe sound good on its own? Especially for clean or low gain blues type sounds? I"m half kidding, I'm sure the pedal will only give you more
      tone options. What I mean is, why do people rave about guitar amps like the Blues Deluxe as if that's all you need when it never seems to be the case? How
      many people just plug right into that amp and don't use any pedal or processor? Like, hardly any. I guess Clapton can do that and sound great, of course, though.

  • @thiscorrosion900
    @thiscorrosion900 ปีที่แล้ว

    Edd, I have a question. You're playing this through a big Fender tube amp, right? Is it vintage? Is it newer? Why is it that Dumble was so much better stock than such an amp?
    What's wrong with Fender amps that won't get you there, as it were, as opposed to an alleged real old Dumble amp? I've never seen one or played one, I was just curious.
    Or is it a matter of, years ago, the big companies mass-produced such amps, and they weren't as good-sounding as a Dumble or a comparable boutique amp? I mean,
    let's say I go out today and buy a tube Fender Blues Deluxe or Deville, right? It BETTER sound good stock. Or, does it never, and I have to like modify it, upgrade it,
    to get it to a Dumble level? I"m baffled. Don't worry I play at home and I have no plans to buy either! LOL Just curious. People rag on modeling amps and processors....
    well, my response is, go buy a 5000 pound old Fender Showman and lug it around at home! LIke, why? I mean..if you can, great. Most of us can't use such a beast,
    anyway. Also,; what power rating were the orig. Dumbles?

    • @eddvincent1891
      @eddvincent1891  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! I am playing through a modern 2014 68 custom deluxe reverb completely stock in this video.
      Let me see if I can answer this with the knowledge I have about the fables amps.
      Originally, dumble amps were TYPICALLY modded Fender circuits. Alexander Dumble would tweak and change components to suit specific players who would ask for these mods to be done.
      It went from mods to fully custom built amps.
      The legendary status only really came about because of the high status players who chose to buy and play them. Robben Ford, SRV, and more recently John Mayer and Kieth Urban.
      Do they sound lightyears better than your off the factory line modern Fender? The truth is: it depends.
      What people often overlook when chasing the "Dumble" sound is that the sound signature changes depending on who and what it was built for, and which model you get.
      I can hit two birds with one stone with this example: Robben Ford's Overdrive Special was 100 watts and as the name suggests, it was the overdrive circuit that was desired. Thick, rich midrange with a smooth top end from what I hear.
      Where as SRV in later years used a Steel String Singer (sometimes two of them) which is reported to be 150 watts. SRV's tone being very bitey and agressive tells you what this amp was all about.
      For the most part, Dumbles ranged from 50-150watts.
      I think modelling and digital solutions have allowed everyone access to something quite close in terms of sound.
      But I will say that nothing can fully replicate a monster 100w turned up moving tons of air, which a lot of pro level players get the chance to do night after night.
      This, however, goes back to the "it depends" statement. For the average player who mostly practices in their home and can't turn the dial past 0.5 without getting the cops called on them, they would probably hate a Dumble. I am in this boat, too, as I would never be able to use a 100w amp to its fullest potential.
      But if you REEEAAALLY want a Dumble but don't wanna sell a kidney or two, companies like Ceriatone and Two-Rock have made the Dumble circuitry* a little bit easier to attain.
      Asterisk on the circuitry because guitarists will swear that the parts might be identical, but the mojo isn't there.
      But hey, to each their own as long as you never stop enjoying the music.
      Hope this helped, and thanks for watching!

    • @thiscorrosion900
      @thiscorrosion900 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eddvincent1891 Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer my ranting and raving! LOL Now I have a better picture of all of that. The thing is a real Dumble they're now selling for totally outrageous prices, so most players even just weekly gigging musicians, aren't really going to be buying one anytime soon. So you're looking at copies, newer versions of that type of amp, etc. or pedals. For me just playing at home, for fun, I can actually crank things pretty well nowadays, since my house seems to have great sound insulation, but I still try to not crank it super loud, mainly since I'm learning and practicing along to tracks, and I need to keep my critical ear open! But sometimes you just want to let rip, of course. Acoustic guitar is a different animal. Even today though I was playing a Nick Drake song via the Vox VX50, using the AC30 channel--gain very low, etc. all acoustic. It just sounds so much better that way. This iwas my Takamine 6 string. I may buy this pedal soon, I have trouble dialing in a low gain blues crunch kind of sound, for some reason, so I figure this will help me dial it in.

    I meant to ask: could you use this pedal for nailing say, a Mark Knopfler sound, or Robert Cray? I already own a Blues Driver and a TS, they are sort of good for that, I guess.

    • @eddvincent1891
      @eddvincent1891  ปีที่แล้ว

      You're pretty much already there with what you have. Especially with the Blues Driver.
      I would suggest looking into a compressor pedal before trying a new overdrive.
      Using a compressor before your drives that can give you a more percussive and evened out sound will help get the feel and sustain of a turned up tube amp.
      Some examples of compressors like this are the Boss CS-3, Wampler EGO, or the Donner Lax Comp of you wanna stay in the same price range as the Dumbal Drive.

    • @thiscorrosion900
      @thiscorrosion900 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@eddvincent1891Actually, the three pedals I own are the BD2, the TS 7 from the later 90s with the boost switch, and a DynoCompressor. What I may do is put together a small actual pedal board, since I don't have one right now. I was just sitting here practicing some Pink Floyd stuff using the Zoom G1X4 processor I have, I managed to set up a patch that seems to work well enough for a lot of Floyd stuff, and 80s music. But I'd like to set up a real pedal board and round what i have out a bit and use that too. I'm going to buy the Dumble pedal for sure soon.

    The thing is, if you're already playing it through a quality Fender tube amp, that doesn't really tell me much about the pedal itself. I mean, how would it sound through a less expensive/solid state or digital amp? Also, the real question (what I _really_ want to know is), does it SRV? :)

    • @thiscorrosion900
      @thiscorrosion900 ปีที่แล้ว

      The question for me is, after studying them recently, why the hell can't someone produce a new amp that comes close to the Dumble? I don't mean copy it exactly,
      which would be a TM issue, or rights issue, but surely someone can come up with something almost as good, or as good? Everyone rags on new tech., modeling
      amps, etc., and pedals, well, old gear from fucking 55 years ago isn't going to cut it, anyway, and even if you can find one, it costs a fortune, and then there's
      maintenance. This is total stupidity. We need more NEW gear that is made to these levels of quality. But i guess that's out the window. Who the fuck is even
      going to tell the difference live if the player is really good, he's pushing one of these pedals through a great amp, PA, etc., or pedal board as well? Most people
      coming to shows can't even hear the difference, anyway. To me it's just stupid. You can buy an old Fender Showman and pray it works, spend $25,000,
      and it may still sound like crap. There's no guarantee. I just play at home, ok. I use a Vox VX50 amp....it's a modeling amp. 50 watts. To me, it sounds fantastic.
      Versatile as hell. And, its' light, smaller, and can go anywhere. It won't sound like a real Dumble, but who cares. Is it good? Is it tube? yes!
