I play Pokemon Wilds. It's amazing! One of my favorite thing about Wilds is that it's an offline game, so I have really spotty internet and when my internet takes a dump, Wilds is my fallback.
I love how most (In fact, I think it's all but one of them) of these are game jam games. Just goes to show the talent a lot of people have to make stuff *this* good in about a month. :) (Also, I didn't realize Seafoam was GB Studio until just now)
Thank you for this informative list! I recently just played through Pokémon Terra Nova- which is a completed fan game released December 27th 2021! Over 880 original Pokémon(fakemon). Worth checking out for anyone itching for something new!

A mature pokemon game with a gore/dark story line would feel fresh. The closest thing we got to that was gen 5 with IMO the most "evil" evil team.

If they use a GBA or NDS emulator, yes, if there’s an APK, yes, if they’re a windows game, there’s a chance given you can orchestrate a windows virtual machine on android. More than likely most of these games are playable on RP2, RP1 your best bet is either a Linux port or running the roms through an emulator.
Got another idea for a fan made game. Pokemon Ash and Sarena: this is a world where Ash and Sarena start there journey at the same time and place. You choose either Ash or Serena but Pikachu will obey either one.
Nothing can top the weirdness and randomness that is Pokémon Wet Moat. It’s frickin weird and pretty funny at times. Absolutely no plot. It’s basically poking fun at edgy Pokémon fan games. At least, that’s what I thought of it.
Got another idea for a fan made game. Pokemon Mysty: in this game you play as Mysty. Your starting pokemon is Psyduck. The game should small nods to her story in the show.

Got an idea of another fan made game. Pokemon Halo: Like the game 'Halo' but instead of guns you fight the covenant in Pokemon battles. Also there is a new type: flood type, where it is infected by the flood.
There should be a PC (not mobile) MMORPG Pokémon game where you are a Pokémon, not a trainer. And you could level up and learn new moves (skills) and evolve (if you like), like in the Pokémon games. I do not know if the game should have equipments though.

Island of the Pokemon Maiden: this takes place as Ash and Misty (you can choose to change her to your other pokigirls if you wish) land on the island. After the maiden kissed Ash the maiden challenges Misty to a Pokemon battle. They then give you a brief history of the prophecy. "Log ago when the world was new, the pokemon gods appointed the the birds as the keepers of the weather. Knowing their arrogance they also appointed Lugia as the enforcer of this balance. His work was strained, until a maiden and her slowpoke shipwrecked on this island. The maiden gave a song that rest the three birds, and Lugia gave her this island should her song be needed again." Ash starts his chosen one thing by battling three nobles, then they have a rehearsal where he also has to battle a guy representing the meddler, the one who will trigger the imbalance (though the prophecy didn't specify who he is). Ash then goes to the first island. He then encounters team rocket in a giant robot (giant robots are easy to fight. Just find away to sneak to their backs, choose a Pokemon, then hear Ash say "Pokemon destroy", the pokemon will lung to the robot, destroy the robot, and head back to ash). You will also battle sentries (people who have been captured and reprogrammed by the birds to serve as soldiers). Fortress of the Forbidden Collection: While trying to save zapadose Ash's party is taken with it. The maiden kicked Ash and Misty off to save them, and they land in halls of the fortress. They encounter pokemon battling robots that are destroyed after you beat them. You find the maiden and the captain being held as dancing girls. The captain believe that this is the work of the collector, a man rumored to be obsessed with collecting rare things. The collector then arrived. He believes ash is the meddler in the prophecy, and tried to kill him...but failed and fled. Then Ash tries to free the birds. War of the 4 Birds: ash and friends see the battle of the three birds and their sentries. It was exclaimed that Ash is the chosen one because only someone anointed by a great pokemon can touch the stones. Ash battles sentries from all three sides. Lugia arrived to help. But the collector sent giant machines to capture him. Ash destroys them (like team rocket's robot). Then the collector came up to him with his Mew card, "this is all I have left! And I shall use it to destroy you!" He inverted into a device called a dito gauntlet and he turned into a Mew to fight Ash. After he was defeated, the pokemon gods sent him to another dimension for his crimes. And Ash was able to fulfill the prophecy.
Pokemon Littleroot Researchers is a great game. I've played it and I have really enjoyed it. However, 45 hours of gameplay... yeah, no. Huge stretch. 5 hours at best.
Because they aren't in the play store, most of them are romhacks. Let me give you an example on how I get a romhack to work. Pokémon Unbound is one I'm currently playing on my android phone and it's really good, so I'll pick that to explain. My apologies if it seems very complicated, but it's way easier to do than it sounds. 1) First make sure you have a normal unaltered Pokémon FireRed ROM file (you might need a different rom for other romhacks). Try to avoid shady locations on the internet. I can't link you to one directly, but you better take a look at the ROMS subreddit if you don't have one. 2) Now download the Pokémon Unbound files from pokecommunity or wherever you prefer to get the latest version from. Unzip this ZIP file you downloaded so it turns into a normal map. 3) After unzipping you'll notice there are several files. You want to run the NUPS.exe file. Select your FireRed ROM as the ROM you want to patch and the Pokemon Unbound UPS as the UPS file you want to patch. Let the program do it's thing, and the FireRed ROM will turn into a Pokémon Unbound ROM. You should know however that the ROM file still has the same name. That was the difficult bit, getting it to work on mobile is the easy part. 4) Download an emulator on your phone/tablet/device that's capable of emulating a GBA (or a DS if you play a romhack which used a DS rom, like Pokémon Renegade Platinum). I personally recommend RetroArch since you can also use it to emulate other things (Like both the DS and a GBA). 5) If you're using Retroarch, first open that app. You might get confused by the UI of the screen, but don't panic. First press the home button of the Retroarch app, then press the button for "load core", then select "download core" and look for the most recent version of mGBA (or DeSmuME or MelonDS in case you have a DS rom.) 6) After downloading that core you want to plug your phone into the computer. Make sure you allow your pc through the phone to send and receive files. 7) Now copy your Pokémon Unbound Rom and paste it in the files to your phone, preferably in the map named Retroarch (there's a downloads map in there where you should probably put the rom). You could also do that step by emailing the rom to your phone or through sole other means. It doesn't really matter as long as you get the rom into the downloads folder of RetroArch. 8) Now the final step. Open RetroArch on your phone, press the home button of the app and select "load content", then select "Downloads" (or the other location you put the Rom) and select your file. Congratulations, if you see pokemon unbound starting that means you did everything perfectly. If you somehow see pokemon FireRed starting you made a mistake in the beginning. Normally if you save the game it generates a savefile so just treat it like any game that doesn't have autosave. No need to do the saving through the RetroArch menu. If you have any questions or are stuck, just let me know and I'll try to help. I managed to do all this without anyone teaching me 9, so I'm sure you can definitely do it especially with some help! You can of course also just skip the whole phone bit and download an emulator for pc so you can play it on that. Your choice!
@@briwood6328 Sounds cool, isn't that used to play Pokémon fangames that aren't romhacks? Great that you got it working, maybe you could try to get Pokémon Insurgence running on that? I heard that one is good! In regards to romhacks, most modern you can probably go if you're intending to emulate on your phone is gen 5 and romhacks based on that like Pokémon Blaze Black and Volt White. If you have an absolute powerhouse of a phone you could try emulating 3DS games with CITRA but don't expect that to go smoothly. I have a good phone and CITRA just crashes if I try to run something on it. But pokemon games released on GBA and romhacks based on that will definitely run the smoothest. And I definitely recommend the game I mentioned earlier. While pokemon unbound uses a firered rom it's a crazy upgrade, it visually looks like a mix of a gen 4/gen 5, has a new soundtrack, new map and almost all pokemon gen 1-7. It even has sidequests.

@@briwood6328 I think you're mixing it up a bit. Volt White is based on Pokémon White so you need a Pokemon White (gen 5 of pokemon) Rom for that one. A lot of romhacks are based on Pokémon firered though (like the Pokemon Unbound romhack I mentioned), so that's why I picked that one as an example. You can find roms pretty safely in the roms subreddit, definitely don't visit sketchy websites. A little warning though, volt white is a difficulty increase romhack. It rebalances some stuff but it's challenging to play. You might want to try something else if you're not into that.
Bro pls delete this, or at the very least rename it. These are terrible games lmao, and I get that everyone's experience is different, but half of them are only 3 hours to complete, or aren't even finished. None of these are the best fan games, not even close.

Normally if you save the game it generates a savefile so just treat it like any game that doesn't have autosave. No need to do the saving through the RetroArch menu.

You can of course also just skip the whole phone bit and download an emulator for pc so you can play it on that. Your choice!

@@briwood6328 Sounds cool, isn't that used to play Pokémon fangames that aren't romhacks? Great that you got it working, maybe you could try to get Pokémon Insurgence running on that? I heard that one is good!
In regards to romhacks, most modern you can probably go if you're intending to emulate on your phone is gen 5 and romhacks based on that like Pokémon Blaze Black and Volt White. If you have an absolute powerhouse of a phone you could try emulating 3DS games with CITRA but don't expect that to go smoothly. I have a good phone and CITRA just crashes if I try to run something on it.
But pokemon games released on GBA and romhacks based on that will definitely run the smoothest. And I definitely recommend the game I mentioned earlier. While pokemon unbound uses a firered rom it's a crazy upgrade, it visually looks like a mix of a gen 4/gen 5, has a new soundtrack, new map and almost all pokemon gen 1-7. It even has sidequests.
@@SunlessSage yeah it is fan made jurky to when I walk but apart from that it's not bad really...it's the first time I downloaded anything that you have to unzip if that's the term lol...so to get the gen 4 volt white game I need a fire red rom then download it from where?
@@briwood6328 I think you're mixing it up a bit. Volt White is based on Pokémon White so you need a Pokemon White (gen 5 of pokemon) Rom for that one.
A lot of romhacks are based on Pokémon firered though (like the Pokemon Unbound romhack I mentioned), so that's why I picked that one as an example.
You can find roms pretty safely in the roms subreddit, definitely don't visit sketchy websites.
A little warning though, volt white is a difficulty increase romhack. It rebalances some stuff but it's challenging to play. You might want to try something else if you're not into that.

Bro pls delete this, or at the very least rename it. These are terrible games lmao, and I get that everyone's experience is different, but half of them are only 3 hours to complete, or aren't even finished. None of these are the best fan games, not even close.
