I agree with the importance of having a dash camera but having bought a couple of cheap cams in the past that had poor interface and poor video quality I quickly learned that spending a little more for a decent one is definitely worth the extra money. I’m not talking about $600 dollar cams but in the $50 dollar range.
I bought a Rexing. Really good…for about a year. It started randomly making corrupt videos. Changed out SD card but it continues. My wife’s Thinkware was about $250 and has been trouble free.
My wife is learning the dashcam lesson the hard way. We had one of those cheap- cams but the lithium battery expanded destroying the camera. Near Emory in Atlanta Amanda sided he didn't want to wait so cut her off. Sideswiped her, and stood in front of his license plate to make sure she couldn't get any of his information. Crooked DeKalb County cop, sorry to repeat myself, gets their stories and proceeds to write that she rear-ended him. Not sure if he paid the cop off, or what, but doesn't match with the damages to the vehicles. Still it's up to us to go to court now at Great expense, and what are the odds you'll get an honest judge in that place?
yep! i don't understand why Clark is recommending such cheap dashcam, where a god dashcam will literally save you thousands. A good one cost at least $80, a Viofo. you can also get a Garmin for $100. Hope everything get sorted out with your spouse.
Naw, I think it's just an incompetent cop who didn't know any better. DeKalb County Police is super low on staffing, from beat cops to supervisors. So there isn't a critical amount of knowledgeable police officers at every rank level. No one wants to be a police officer anymore, or even work a job where they have report everyday on-site.
Car camera. I drive a 19 year old car - made before cars were sold with cameras. 60 years of driving without a chargeable accident. Finally, in December 2017, I had a dash camera installed. I am glad that I did. A year later, I had a back up camera installed. Another good investment.
I currently own a five year old Tesla model three with 185 thousand miles on it. It still runs just as good as when I got it and I haven’t had any major issues. I’ve only lost a few miles on the range.
Insurance at fault is critical, especially in Virginia. In Va, if you are assigned even 1% at fault then the other insurance company does not have to pay. I found this out the hard way!
I buy new cars, so I am not inheriting any one else's problems and drive them until said vehicle is dead. My definition is dead is when monthly maintenance exceeds the monthly payment on a new vehicle
Why do you have a monthly payment? You're supposed to pay cash for it. If you don't have the cash, then you can't afford it. And if you do maintain your car, it must last way way longer than say 8 years which is the longest financing term.
@@terry_willis - I managed a zero percent loan in 2020 straight from the manufacturer And even at today's car loan Interest rates, investment of that money exceeds the car loan interest rate. Oh great, I have Allstate. Now I'm worried how much they'll hike my rate, which I do expect with each renewal because insurance co. are greedy jerks. Allstate also said a dash cam is just a waste of money. I wanted a dash cam anyway so when I went to get one 1st my mechanic said it would be hard on my battery, 2nd the place I went to shop for one didn't even recommend me getting one. I still want one but I don't want a dead battery unexpectedly. Lastly Clark, take your team to Japan and visit their Costco. It's awesome. So awesome you'll need to have a checked in baggage on the return home lol.
Didn't think dash cams drain batteries, and after a quick Google search, most results confirm that it's very unlikely: "Dash cams typically use less than 5 watts when recording, and even less when they're in Parking Mode waiting for something to happen." "Dash cams are equipped with a low power consumption mode, ensuring minimal impact on your vehicle's battery." Team Clark recommends them, but do more research before making a final decision. Thanks for the Costco Japan tip! Clark would shove meat in his pockets before he checks a bag.😂💚

The Costco's in Canada, use a different credit card for their purchases. Well, at least the last time I was there. I love pairs of shorts, by a company called, BC Clothing Company and you can't get them here in the U.S. The shorts are much thicker than the type purchased at the Costco's in the U.S. They'll last until the 22nd century. Costco in the U.S. started carrying the brand and it was awful. Why? Because the version available here, is no thicker or better than other U.S., sold brands. When I fly to Canada, I only half fill my personal item travel bag. That way I can purchase the shorts there, wear them and bring them back to the U.S.
I took your advice a few years back on dash cams. I’m on my second cheap one. I haven’t needed it to prove anything yet but had several close calls. This includes following my spouse who was almost hit by a person who ran a 🛑 sign. Luckily they missed, but I would have the proof had it happen.

A few days before my flight I found out United has both Economy and Basic Economy tiers - and the latter does not allow any carry-on bags. So I ended up having to pay $45 each way to check my carry-on.
I don't fly unless it's absolutely necessary, if its in the lower 48 I drive I don't have a need to visit another country, there are some I would like to visit but I'm to cheap to do it
I am in the midst of a frustrating auto claim. My car was totaled. The other driver was cited so it was not my fault. When a vehicle is totaled you are at the mercy of the insurance company's car value process, which will typically result in a lowball settlement offer. That is my situation. It appears my only real option is to complain to my state insurance commissioner and maybe then either sue the other party or go to arbitration.
Yes, insurance adjusters will usually lowball you, but you don't have to accept their initial offer. You can negotiate, if you can present proof that replacement cost of your vehicle with a similar year/make/model/mileage/condition would cost your more than their offer. Examples would be NADA or Kelly Blu Book Retail pricing, or online listings from sellers with non-negotiable pricing, like Carmax, for example.
I don't think a cheap dashcam will help. Read the user reviews. Most have poor resolution and a frequent problem is not being able to decipher license place numbers which could be important if someone hits you and runs. There are also reports of early failures and other issues. Even some of the more expensive models have similar problems.

What about the inevitable delays that can cause you to miss a connecting flight? Miss a flight to Europe and see how much that’s going to cost you.
