    I was working at Clay Lane blastfurnace in the seventies The best set of lads i ever worked with sea or land Miss them all Somone might still remember Norwegian Chris

    A little over seven years since myself and many others got a disgusting text message telling us not to come back…
    Not a day has gone by that the site, the industry and the ‘family’ isn’t missed.
    The closure in its entirety is the most abhorrent act ever, the government never wanted the site to open and they made sure that it didn’t.

    What a crying shame....... What a shame.....No !!!! It is a shame...All the jobs gone and a history as well...I live near where there used to be a shipyard,and that's all gone...

      I feel sorry for the area as I'm from Newcastle upon Tyne and lived near the shipyards....
