Yeah but we’re talking about konami here. They saw the success of the resident evil remakes, decided they want in on the same market and put forth the remake they thought would net them the most money. If Sh2 remake does well I don’t doubt they will also start remaking the other games
I just want the entire SH franchise on steam, like, we only got homecoming on steam and The Room on GoG, Konami could make BANK if they just ported the base versions of the games onto steam. Not just the first 3, I mean ALL of them, because they all deserve equal line light.
There are a couple of tutorials available on how to get the 'Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition' onto Steam. It's the only stable option and free. Will take most of a day to implement, tho'. But worth it by most accounts. A few ran into an error regarding a missing PNG file to do with a mouse cursor stopping installation, so be wary of that. But the only issue I've seen with it so far, and plays flawlessly on mobile. Would recommend 😘👌
Honestly, I find just following the history of the series to be super fun and interesting. Like, good or bad, just seeing everything play out, what moves Konami pull and how the fans react, is just so engaging. Seeing the series legacy being transformed in real time. I feel the same way with the Sonic franchise. I haven't played a new Sonic game in over a decade, nor do I plan to, but goddamnit do I love to soak up the raging fan debate that springs up every time a new one gets released. It's high drama I tell ya. That's not to say that I'm not going to play the new Silent Hill games, but the point is you can be invested in something and have a good time without being _emotionally_ invested in said thing. Personally, I'll just be happy if we get just one really solid game.
I feel like Konami just chose the cheapest cost-to-reputation AA studio they could find. Bloober has made a career off of the most mid, bare-minimum horror games I've ever played. They seem to be able to develop these mash potatoes of horror projects within two weekends too. They're big with streamers though, I guess. I'm a fan of walking sims. Love Frictional Games, even Red Barrels. I didn't even mind Shattered Memories. But Bloober games? I played them all myself, just as you have. 8 hours at the DMV goes by faster (and is scarier) than any of Bloober's 3 hour hallways.
6:58 Yes, Christophe IS a real gamer. He wasn't just a hired director on the first movie. He's the one who relentlessly pursued Konami for 5 years to get the rights and he's the one who badgered them again to make this new film, which is the only reason that Konami decided to revive the franchise.
@@ScottsGameAsylum Look mate, I've watched both your Bloober Team video and this one so far and think you do a pretty good job producing quality content, but if you can't handle the slightest pushback regarding a "joke" that approximately 527 TH-camrs have done before you, then I'm sorry I commented.
He also decided to change the lead role from a father (Harry) to a mother looking for their daughter because being scared in a spoopy ghost town would "feel more natural" for a woman, as men don't get scared by ancient eldritch horrors apparently. So fuck Christophe
@@shinluis No, he changed the role from a father to a mother because he crafted a story about motherhood. Yeah, he didn't do a 1 to 1 remake of the first game, he adapted it into another story. Deal with it.
@@shadowfang1034 Yeah, western studios who were known for making licensed handheld games and western studios who had Silent Hill as their first project with no prior experience. To say that they were bad solely by virtue of being "Western" is incredibly reductive.
@@non-playable They were still chosen by Konami for whatever reason they thought they were capable. They thought they could do a better job than Team Silent. None of those games understood what made Silent Hill what it was beyond visuals and overdone beats. We saw the same thing from the trailer as it gave the game away and bad characterization. Those with intuition know when to avoid a purchase or watching a bad movie.
6:54 I understand why you laugh because of how "meh" his first adaptation of SIlent Hill was (good looking movie but a bad movie overall). But, yes, he is a gamer. His french movies were part of a kind of renaissance of genre movies here in France, in the late 90s. One of his movies was a thriller/action movie set in 18th century france... were one of the protagonist have a whip blade like in Soul Calibur (and he clearly stated in interviews that it was the direct inspiration for it). He also directed Crying Freeman, from the manga of the same name. So, yes, he is kind of a geek.
I just hope they don't Bloop all over this. The trailer makes me think they don't get that the uncanniness of the acting and events isn't a bug, but a feature. And if they make James be "more realistic" or "cinematic" it kills the vibe. Remember Troy Baker's performance on the HD collection? Killed the whole mood. But having some of the old gang back together behind it gives me hope.
Meh, to me the whole "it's supposed to sound uncanny" argument always felt like a post-hoc rationalization of Konami simply not having the resources to find or direct quality English VO. That's not to say you can't like it, but I don't think stuff like that should be approached as if it's some inextricable feature that *NEEDS* to be there in order for the Remake to work. Weird VO was just a natural symptom of the context in which the original game was made, and isn't something that can be recreated in a completely different cultural and historical context. In that regard, it should be permitted to be it's own thing.
@@Ryan-Petre There are a number of parts where the acting is more forward. The scene of Angela and James on the burning staircase, James's reaction to Maria being taken by Pyramid Head, Mary's letter, etc. When they wanted it to be more dramatic they pulled it off. And especially when you look into the development of the game and how they wanted it to feel like it was a dream (or nightmare). The cutscenes were made to be 60fps while the game ran at 30 to have a disassociative aspect to it. And often the character's are written to be confused of what is going on and go along with weird things without question, in a game that has superb writing in general. It was intentional. There is way too much narrative, directing, and atmospheric mastery for some of the voice acting to be "bad" due to budget. And when you had the HD collection voices it didn't fit bc the acting that took everything super realistic didn't fit the way many of the scenes are defined. James just naively going along with everything doesn't make sense when he's voiced to be dramatic. Maria's changing personality and uncertainty of what she actually is (esp when she's messing with James) doesn't make sense when she's being voiced dramatically either. Konami had the resources, they were making Metal Gear and other games with more straight forward voice acting at the time. This isn't theory, it's artistic intent.
I actually like James' face when in the pyramid head closet scene. When it's not zoomed in, he looks pretty good but then the in other parts he doesn't. I think it's tied to the stubble on his face
Yeah, Jimmy is looking good and the uncannyness of his mug appears to be by design. Well as of the production of this trailer that is. He might end up looking like David Hasselhoff by the time the game launches, and that image in my head just made me laugh.
Perhaps its subliminal, maybe im putting that in your head so i can change the sands of time..... Okay, im cocking around. Outlast review will be on the horizon soon. prob 2023.
im so hyped about silent hill f, ryokishi07 has done well in his previous works with creating fun and interesting characters and has show great talent with building mysterys around curses and towns/places, great choice to revive corpse that is silent hill. Also its not located in silent hill we know, which is great as he wont be bottlenecked by series history
Blooper doesn't make games like this is my concern they focus on walking sims (no hate that's just how it is) and their last attempt on a game like silent Hill was the medium which was bad
I share that same mentality of the original still exists and isn’t effected by remakes or remasters. It’s why i’m always fine with remakes/remasters of beloved franchises even when they turn out to be lackluster…. Like re3r
It doesn't though. Emulation aside, requiring players to buy a two decade old machine or an old difficult to find PC copy that may or may not work, even with the fan made fix is not reasonable. Once they bring the classics to Steam/GOG or whatever else, then that argument can be made freely. It's so frustrating to see how little this industry gives a shit about preservation.
@@JHawke1 I agree with this sentiment. Yeah the orginals still technically exist somewhere but you have to be willing to jump through several unconventional hoops just to play them on years old hardware or through unconventional "illegal" means with unofficial patches to even get it running on modern PC's. Everyone keeps bringing up the same thing when these remakes are being announced, the dreaded "The originals still exist, quit whining" but fail to see that these publishers DO think these are replacements as they never, NEVER release the orginal titles on newer hardware when these remakes happen. Hell most of the time they do the EXACT OPPOSITE by removing the orginals like Rockstar did with GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas when the god awful remakes came out or Sega removing the Genesis version Sonic 1, 2, 3 and CD from Digital Stores to get people to buy Origins remakes instead. They are replacing the orginal games literally in front of us.
@@jadedmillion8991 Precisely. Even Capcom, who've gained a lot of goodwill with their REmakes, have still failed to make the actual classics available on Steam despite a number of them having had prior windows releases.
But then you have fantastic fan projects like SH2: enhanced edition and the RE classic rebirth mods that theoretically are much better ports than what a piad dev studio could make.
@@ScottsGameAsylum And yet it's still a much larger barrier to entry than just making it available for purchase on Steam. I'm not just thinking of those who've played the game in the past, I'm thinking of potential newcomers who don't want to faff around with all that.
Correction! Neobards made the Ray Traced update of RE3R for current gen consoles. Like that really matters, polish a turd, it's still a turd! Yamaoka is strumming a strat, I just wanted to see if any of you would pick up on this part, golf clap if you did.
I just played RE2R with raytracing and it's pretty badly integrated. I don't think it's their fault 100%, the game maybe needs to be coded from the ground up with RT to work. Adding to the fact that it's on a propietary engine. Nevertheless, it was kind of a meh job.
All these remakes make me feel old because I am but I’m glad the new generation might be able to experience some awesome games like I did when I growing up Less we forget
As an immigrant with “tiger parents,” I was kinda rushed through school and told to focus exclusively on my studies and didn’t get into gaming until I had my own money and my own career, mid to late 20s. I had my chance to play these games in a reasonable format taken from me. I want my turn to play these games in a way that isn’t frustrating and unfun, and from what I understand there is currently no good way for me to do that, so I would like all the hotheads who already got their chance to allow me to play the polish remake so I can experience being in that world the way they got to do so many years ago
Another banger mate! Loved it. Now this is out there, but went to CeX (dodging the chavs and the stench of BO) I bought and played both of The Getaway games the other day. If you remember them, would love to watch a video on your take on them! Oh yeah, I almost forgot… you’re a corporate shill
Unless i get a sponsor, I refuse to cover anything in the future!!! For realsies, I played them when they first came out and enjoyed them. I'll add it to my every growing lists of games!
I wonder if they’ve left the remake of 1 until after the 2 remake? Perhaps, 1 and 3 might be developed alongside each other or back-to-back, since 3 is the true sequel to silent hill 1
Hey yo, you're quickly becoming one of those TH-camrs where I click a new video without a second thought as soon as I see it uploaded. Love your straightforward no bullshit approach. Keep up the good work Scott, you're due for an influx of subs very soon I'd imagine. And yeah, Silent Hill 2, along with REmake have been my all time favorite games for a long time. I imagine Bloober Team knows the stakes here in remaking such a beloved classic, let's hope they don't bungle it.
Man I hope the remake does well. If it does there's a bigger chance of Silent Hill 4 getting a remake and good god does it need one. The ai is such a vegetable.
I actually did enjoy Silent Hill Homecoming when it came out. Granted, I played it 13 years ago. I also enjoyed Heavy Rain and upon seeing your review I dont think I want to revisit that one unless to revisit the hilarity. Have you seem Dunkey's latest video on Heavy Rain? Its golden.
Not much of a dunkey fan tbh but i can imagine he meme'd it pretty hard. Honestly, there is no shame in liking maligned media. if you had a good experience then whatever other people say, myself included, doesn't matter!
People say "better to be dead" when it comes to the sh2 remake I say "You weren't there when it was dead it was horrible" and sad to see everyone talking about resident evil but then shake their head and say 'who or what' when you bring up Silent Hill
Funny enough, I felt the same way with the RE and FF7 remakes. but then that's MY point of view, which ultimately doesn't matter. If it brings in new people into these worlds then that is nothing but a good thing in my eyes.
@@ScottsGameAsylum I agree honestly silent hill is at its best when it's experimental and these new projects looks like that I hope it creates new fans that will also check out the older games and bring silent hill back to the mainstream
I completely agree with your take on the remake and think a lot of the negative reactions we saw were initial feelings without considering the factors at play. Whether you like bloober or not, there's no denying they understand art direction and high fidelity visuals. Especially with their last 2 entries observer and the medium. It seems like most people's concern is stemming from the studios sub-par quality of story telling, but that part is taken care of. I know Konami wouldn't allow them to butcher it or make any jarring changes which was proven by recognizing the scenes and dialogue in the trailer from the original game. I know they've made a lot of poor design choices but as a horror studio the level or respect they probably have for the silent hill franchise and the responsibility of this project would offer some guidance to this project. The internet is just an echo chamber of negativity from people who can't think for themselves.
I'm excited but then I remember... the other Silent Hills.... Silent Hill was never really about horror jump scares. It was more a psychological analysis of the human condition. I fear not many studios have the guts to do that anymore.
This was a really refreshing take to watch after wading through the slimy echo chamber of negativity that is Twitter. I really feel for Ito, mf just wants to make a cool game and gets bombarded with shit takes by fucking art school dropouts who have too much time on their hands. Granted, some of the concerns are warranted, but just like almost everything on the internet that shit's blown way out of proportion. That said, I really enjoyed the video, looking forward to the next one!
Call me a cynic, because I am... But I have little faith in anything Konami does or them pimping out their IP's. I don't want to see this all fail, but I also have no desire to get invested.
I wish the original at least got modren port on consoles and pc, ik you can mod it on pc to make it playable but there's undoubtedly huge chunk of people that will not try the original just because going to abandonware sites scare them and will be satisfied by the remake regardless of its quality
this is also a big reason im mostly interesting in Silent Hill f over everything else, like omg something new with to me at least still the same core feeling that silent hill has
I've got a lot of mixed feelings after seeing the whole transmission, one being that the remake wasn't even the most exciting part. It's hard to have faith in Konami's decision making after shifting solely to pachislot machines. Sure, it's not bad to have hope for it but it's been burned quite a bit these past few years. As for Bloober team? Just let them stick to the art department.
It actually looks quite promising. Interested to see their take on it. I'm hopeful it will turn out great. By the way, someone made an edit that changes the whole tone of the teaser trailer: th-cam.com/video/eIhycDjoQIE/w-d-xo.html
oh my god there were words hidden in the AUDIO? of silent hill townfall? now i'm basically CERTAIN it's going to be analog horror / have ARG elements. i'm so close to certainty on that. apparently the film matters because the idea for the film was what made them go "you know... maybe we should make new games." because... they thought about the film first. despite being a game studio. yeah that's kind of how i feel. like i don't really think it's going to be super special. maybe bloober team (noted plagiarists) will be able to plagiarize this game so good they'll figure out how to write a good story. idk. but it'll draw young folks into the game and the series for sure. i am annoyed that basically they put the most generic Boring Video Game Man face on james. he's basically the same person as the protagonist from their blair witch game. but they can't use the original face, and i guess bloober team can't model a different face, so like, whatever. forte's gonna be cool.
To quote a can of Mayo, "We don't know what Ito has done, if anything, if they are using his old monster designs then yeah - He can be credited with the remake without even working on it". We don't actually know anything.
Scott: I'm not saying capitalism is bad. Also Scott: Jodie (in Beyond: Two Souls) doesn't use her power to emancipate the working class. Yeah right, mate, you're not fooling me. ;)
I still would have preferred a remake of the original Silent Hill game rather than a remake of SH2 - a game that still looks amazing almost 22 years later.
Considering Bloober Team's track record with their games and their artistic approach to their projects,i can see why there are reasons to worry. I myself am worried, because i feel it will be just walking and jumpscares, and barely any of the dreadful atmosphere like it was in the original 3 games.
I Just wish Konami would let us play the original games putting them on PlayStation Plus Premium or something, as someone Who never played the OG, i'm excited about the remake but would really Like an option to play at least the 4 main games without having to emulate or something. And sure, buying an old PS1/2 Copy Is kinda the way to go, but Konami could profit so much simply putting the ports on sale on consoles... My real hope was that they'd announce something about the older games during the event, but what we got was a movie interview showing the biggest spoilers ever for a game that they are remaking for the people that never got to experience the original. Great job! And yes, i know i could possibly play all of them on PC, but i'm really not a PC "gamer", so unless they rerelease the games on consoles (again), i simply can't experience this saga the way It was originally created... Probably in a minority here with this "problem", but that really sucks. Awesome video as always btw, congrats! Sending love and pizza from Italy!
It just feels like Konami are flinging stuff at the wall to see what sticks. Which is an objectively terrible idea for a franchise as delicate and convoluted as Silent Hill. They should just reboot the whole thing.
You know that comment about my trouser pocket? Times that by ten for Calisto. Probably won't play it day one, but I'm looking forward to that gory rollercoaster when I do.
Seeing the trailer for the Silent Hill 2 remake was really Exciting. But learning more and seeing the transmission about the upcoming games and the advertisement about the series. I didn't like how they are not mentioning a lot of Silent Hill 1, 3, and 4. Which frustrates me, because yes I like Silent Hill 2, but it would not have if weren't for the first game. Everything is just Silent Hill 2, Pyramid Head figurings, Sexy Nurses figurings, and the series about main characters facing their inner demons. And I am like " Yeah, yeah. But where is the Heather, Claudia, Walter, Dahlia, Harry, Douglas, Mumblers, Valtiel, Henry, Eileen, Vincent, etc. Figurings?"
Wholesome? Love of the franchise leaking through? Wow, i got the exact opposite feel. Awkward, & corporate desperately trying to come off as human, strictly business. Feel like that even comes through in their explanation to how this all came about. They were approached about doing another movie & wanted to capitalize as much as they could on the opportunity.
Yeah. I genuinely cannot understand how that was his takeaway. SH2R is clearly not a game they wanted made for the love of it; it's a movie tie in game. They made that much pretty clear. At the very least most people outside of konami look somewhat passionate, even if Bloober might've been one of the worst possible choices to handle anything SH, let alone 2. Still, I don't know how you can see a whole segment dedicated to merch followed by the quote "I hope the games are as good as the movie" and perceive any sort of love or passion from konami
How binary indeed, and I have been learning Japanese for a year. so the host defo have more pep in their native language. And these presentations are always dry! However this one does have love for its subject
@@ScottsGameAsylum I dunno man, sure im not versed in their native language, but Ito came on & he acted like a human being, i could see the "pep" & love in him in contrast to the host right next to him despite them all speaking Japanese just the same.
Bullshit lol. They literally even went as far as to seek both ito and yamaoka to help on the remake. Shit on bloober all you want but they have amazing art direction and konami has them on a short leash. You know what's wrong with you purists is that its hardto please you. Silent hill wasnt even some massive success on sales. It got lower sales as the ip went on even with the team silent games. This ip will die due to purists that keep gatekeeping everything.
I played an NTSC rip of Silent Hill on my chipped PS1 as a kid, which made it black and white and absolutely fucking terrifying. I'm not getting that nostalgia back and I'm at peace with it. I will say that it kinda sets a bad precedent if Konami can rip their company to shreds while treating employees and consumers like peasants, then crap out a few games based on a franchise with a huge fanbase and be completely forgiven. On the other hand, I can't hate the people that are hyped just like I can't hate Sonic fans - they desperately need something to augment their lives and it allows them to be part of a community, which they might not feel a part of in normal life. For what it's worth, F looks like it might be good. It also looks like it should be its own game and riding on Silent Hill's coattails might backfire horribly. sorry for the long comment. lots of coffee and no sleep.
Remakes have there place in art but there is a few things that can't be topped. But I would be a liar if I said I wasn't curious of SH2R and its interpretation.
unfortunately I don't think Neobards did RE3R, they did Resistance and Re:Verse, but I don't really think these are much of a sign of how Silent Hill F will play or feel like, the projects are completely different and the studio really is just a support studio so it's really up in the air how SHf will turnout
The fact that Bloober thinks a third person camera will "help immerse players in the world" makes it more than clear they don't understand SH2 (or just SH in general) at any level beyond the surface. Mary in the clouds? James staring at a noose with sad puppy eyes? Can't wait for "press X to 'Maria!'" Let's not even get into this being a movie game now At least F looks intriguing if nothing else. Can't say much about townfall despite trusting nocode's abilities since they showed pretty much nothing.
I don't think it's going to be a movie game for real, I know they're making a movie at the same time but it's very far from completion, they don't even have cast for it, and Silent Hill 2 remake is just around the corner. And what's your problem with Mary in the clouds? It's just a cool looking shot imo, vinyl record of sh2 OST had similar one.
Just like the 2006 film, if it plays loose with its source material then it will be an enjoyable ride. And the Mary in the clouds looks the a trailer aesthetic that someone took literally, which is amusing. Some people just like making molehills out of dead fetuses.
Hot take - I guess - but new James's face looks fine; curiously the model reminds me a lot of New Harry from Shattered Memories 🤔 But the aspect of the teaser that's mostly made me go 🤨 is: *(gargles gravel and razorblades)* *Hello there. My name is James Sunderland, and I'm an everyman...* At least compared to the Guy Cihi original, anyway 🤷♂️
What I don’t get is thay couldn’t get a new team of young japanese developers? Or an already small japanese studio? But whatever the silent hill 2 original exists. What I wanted was a steam port collection of the first 4 games.
What small Japanese studio's? Apart from a few outliers, game development in Japan essentially collapsed during the PS3/360 era due to the costs of scaling game development to HD consoles. Also, the market moving to mobile pushed smaller Devs to that market where small budget games thrived. What was left was big corporations that were specifically making games with western markets in mind. As this is where the money is, and indie Devs where mostly located in the west due to the prolification of games consoles and pc's. However I do agree about bringing the old games to current stores.
THANK YOU for giving easily the most nuanced take on all this, specially the digs at youtubers and other overdramatic ppl just having a meltdown over the pettiest crap... Looking at the overdramatic reactions to the remake makes me double glad I got over my edgy phase... Life is way too short to be this miserable over videogames... If the game turns out to be good, GREAT! If the game turns out to be bad, then that's great too cuz either way I'll get to see you making a video on it in the future either praising it or making fun of it :P
What annoys me is instead of remaking SH1, they instead choose SH2. My dreams of seeing a remake of the original game in the same vein of RE remake are never gonna come true sadly.
I think its so funny that the new generation of Silent Hill is going to be based on Silent Hill 2, the game that diverged from the series. People say that SH4 was supposed to be a spin off, But SH2 has a better claim. I just think its weird that they advertise it as, Lets experience trauma together, or something like that. Personally i dont think silent Hill is about a deep dive into a characters Inner psyche. But more of a usage of a deep dive into a psyche to show topics like sexism or toxic masculinity, societal problems. Its not insteresting to talk about James and his sexual frustration, he is not a real person. Its interesting to discuss the concept. Do we talk about a Cult trying to rebirth god through a teenager, no we talk about the ideology behind it, women being demonized for their sexual and reproductive functions for literal millenia. I just dont trust Bloober with an SA story. I like Angela Because she is intersting, there are subtexts to her story and character. I try to find analyses about the game, But the videos Can really loosely be called analysis, they are just saying the plot. For god sake, Angela is on the front cover, and i am just worried that they are just gonna use her for the good guy bad guy trope. “Rape is bad and wrong” “James is not a rapist = therefore he is complicated…” Thats What i Call feminist writing… In SH2 there is subtexts in Angela, in the camera angles and the way she speaks and her dialog. Oh god, I Can already imagine Bloobers take on Angela on the Staircase. “ James, Im too broken, Im broken goods and therefore Im going commit suicide”… Maybe Bloober is going to blow my mind, But i doubt it.
The thing I don't get about this is why they're just throwing out news of like 5 new games at once with a movie, merchandising, etc out of nowhere. Guys, you haven't released a Silent Hill game people have actually cared about in like 18 years. Maybe, oh I don't know, try testing the waters with a single game first??????????
tbh im more worried about Konami fucking it up than Bloober. Like, sure Bloober has released some booboo among its kind of decent-to-mediocre library; Konami has been just straightup shit for like, a decade now.
Hey Thomas... Wait it has to sound Japanese. Hey Thomasu-san millions are gonna tune in to see and talk about the SH2 remake, how will stifle negative criticism? Make a small youtuber make lukewarm videos about Blooper Teams games? Brilliant, it got 150k views now we will make millions not from the name of the IP but from this! People are so fucking weird some times.
I Loved the First 3 (even 4 to the biggest Part) to death. Day one Fan of this Story and Game. But honestly, i am not impressed by the new Trailer and what i saw. There was Not the SH feeling too it. It was beautiful but to Clean, not...i don't know.... I couldn't feel SH soul in it. James Looks so different for No reason, No....and it's Konami....i hate them for what they have done to a LOT of my Fav Games. I don't trust them at all. So ...i will wait but prepare myself to be dissapointed again. I am VERY Happy though to Gans is doing another Movie since i found the Movie absolutely PERFECT even with Changes etc. The over all feeling was so good and true to the First Game especially. And the second one was a monstrosity in the worst way and insultingly Bad for me, i Look Forward to that. A Lot of people don't Like SH 1 Movie but this will stay one of my fav Movies of ALL time XD
My first reaction was this remake looks like shit. I saw the follow up with game play and said this remake looks like shit. Coupled with the fact that the only blubber game I could play even a little was layer of fear before getting bored.. not looking good.
today was an incredibly foggy day in my town, so i went to the internet to search some silent hill music and just found out about this remake, tbh, it looks great, then saw it had pushback by fans, so i watched your previous video about the boob company and their last game won me over, i am pretty confident it will a good remake, and the newer one looks dope as hell, i really like the artistic direction, you can go only so far with the creepy town setting. SH2 is one of my all time favorite games, but let's be honest people overinflated it to an unrealistic standard, today i was gleefully talking to normies about how the weather reminded me of this game, and told them it was a movie because i won't show them an 20 year old game that looks like shit lol. i hope the new movie and remake are good enough so the next time i get to experience a thick ass fog again, i can show them those videos instead
IDK kind of tired of this whole fan hating attitude. "Lol, you care about thing, and I don't care about thing because thing is pointless, and you just want to hate said thing". You say you don't care but you sure are whinging for multiple minutes about how people who do care are a bunch of clowns and losers. How about actually addressing concerns? People online really like to project this sense of superiority because of their self-proclaimed apathy. I'm just sick of mfers telling me that I'm the one saying "you aren't allowed to like things" when they are literally telling me I'm not allowed to dislike things, then proceed to say that it doesn't matter anyway.
Silent Hill 2 Review: th-cam.com/video/SUwsv4BshTQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xVG4lj8C3mIv5ARm
I'm more mad they didn't give the first silent hill a remake. I think it's one that needed it since it isn't as fondly brought up as 2.
Honestly, I'd have also loved for 4 to actually get the remake treatment. It's the one that needs it the most IMO.
Yeah I get that, it's definitely the most creaky out of them all. But the clunk adds to it's charm imo
@@spiralpower1620 meh, but can we just have an appreciation post for SH4? aka the best one!
Yeah but we’re talking about konami here. They saw the success of the resident evil remakes, decided they want in on the same market and put forth the remake they thought would net them the most money. If Sh2 remake does well I don’t doubt they will also start remaking the other games
Silent Hill 2 is the more popular game. It's the one that most people refer to when they think of Silent Hill
I just want the entire SH franchise on steam, like, we only got homecoming on steam and The Room on GoG, Konami could make BANK if they just ported the base versions of the games onto steam. Not just the first 3, I mean ALL of them, because they all deserve equal line light.
oh yeah!
It think they lost the source code of the first fist games, could be wrong though.
Word!
He's the one who relentlessly pursued Konami for 5 years to get the rights and he's the one who badgered them again to make this new film, which is the only reason that Konami decided to revive the franchise.
jesus, and i though Film Brain was joyless
@@ScottsGameAsylum Look mate, I've watched both your Bloober Team video and this one so far and think you do a pretty good job producing quality content, but if you can't handle the slightest pushback regarding a "joke" that approximately 527 TH-camrs have done before you, then I'm sorry I commented.
All so he could make the first movie a political commentary? Lol
I'm actually fine with James' new model, I've seen other good ones but I like it and it fits the gritty atmosphere.
Me too, the uncannyness adds to it
However these games turn out, there is a part of me that is just happy to see Silent Hill finally getting some new releases.
Shotgun that!
Yeah but its kinda ridiculous how they are giving the remake to a western studio when western studios made like 6 shitty Silent hill games
Do you ever read what you type?
Lol I love that you used Bloop as a verb! That's comedy gold man!
@@ScottsGameAsylum 😂 thank you
Troy was far better as James.
Man, you mentioning Outlast so much makes me want a video on it.
Perhaps its subliminal, maybe im putting that in your head so i can change the sands of time..... Okay, im cocking around. Outlast review will be on the horizon soon. prob 2023.
@@ScottsGameAsylum make it 2027 so you don't have to ruin your sanity this early ;)
🤣 perhaps I should
im so hyped about silent hill f, ryokishi07 has done well in his previous works with creating fun and interesting characters and has show great talent with building mysterys around curses and towns/places, great choice to revive corpse that is silent hill. Also its not located in silent hill we know, which is great as he wont be bottlenecked by series history
Man I just found your channel and I’ve really enjoyed your humor and focus on horror games(from what I’ve seen) keep up the good work.
Thanks, it gets a bit spooky in here!
Blooper doesn't make games like this is my concern they focus on walking sims (no hate that's just how it is) and their last attempt on a game like silent Hill was the medium which was bad
17:27 "I'm not arguing that fact."
Scott's the shop steward of my heart.
I recently played The Medium and I'd say that i'm a bit scared about the SH2 remake with Bloober on commands now...
@@RexVergstrong Im still using a GTX 1080 lol
All these remakes make me feel old because I am but I’m glad the new generation might be able to experience some awesome games like I did when I growing up Less we forget
Yeah, more opportunities to experience these games is a plus
As an immigrant with “tiger parents,” I was kinda rushed through school and told to focus exclusively on my studies and didn’t get into gaming until I had my own money and my own career, mid to late 20s. I had my chance to play these games in a reasonable format taken from me. I want my turn to play these games in a way that isn’t frustrating and unfun, and from what I understand there is currently no good way for me to do that, so I would like all the hotheads who already got their chance to allow me to play the polish remake so I can experience being in that world the way they got to do so many years ago

For realsies, I played them when they first came out and enjoyed them. I'll add it to my every growing lists of games!
My favorite silent hill is downpour, it was my first and only one I ever played.
Its a good one too!
Thanks mate, that means a lot.

As a Fable fan I enjoyed the brief jab at Peter Molyneux.
Its golden.

People say "better to be dead" when it comes to the sh2 remake
I say "You weren't there when it was dead it was horrible" and sad to see everyone talking about resident evil but then shake their head and say 'who or what' when you bring up Silent Hill
Funny enough, I felt the same way with the RE and FF7 remakes. but then that's MY point of view, which ultimately doesn't matter. If it brings in new people into these worlds then that is nothing but a good thing in my eyes.
@@ScottsGameAsylum I agree honestly silent hill is at its best when it's experimental and these new projects looks like that
I hope it creates new fans that will also check out the older games and bring silent hill back to the mainstream

Great insights, man. Loved the pace on this and the dig at middle aged TH-camrs hit too close to home lmao. French Knickers reveal when?
Onlyfans now!
Don't get me started on PT, when I finally talk about Resident Evil Village, I have a lot to say about it.
I think someone did make a video talking about Homecoming being a masterpiece. I may be mistaken though.
I wish the original at least got modren port on consoles and pc, ik you can mod it on pc to make it playable but there's undoubtedly huge chunk of people that will not try the original just because going to abandonware sites scare them and will be satisfied by the remake regardless of its quality
People can always emulate them on PCSX2 but I know emulators scare most off as well
I just want them to release the orginal 4 games unchanged
You may be one of my favorite paid corporate shills on youtube

Oooh yeah
this is also a big reason im mostly interesting in Silent Hill f over everything else, like omg something new with to me at least still the same core feeling that silent hill has
@@shnoozezzz9752 don't forget Ryukishi07
I've got a lot of mixed feelings after seeing the whole transmission, one being that the remake wasn't even the most exciting part. It's hard to have faith in Konami's decision making after shifting solely to pachislot machines. Sure, it's not bad to have hope for it but it's been burned quite a bit these past few years. As for Bloober team? Just let them stick to the art department.
Fools it's a pachinko machine
I'll take that bet lol
It actually looks quite promising. Interested to see their take on it. I'm hopeful it will turn out great. By the way, someone made an edit that changes the whole tone of the teaser trailer: th-cam.com/video/eIhycDjoQIE/w-d-xo.html
ooh yeah its tastefully done, me likey!
oh my god there were words hidden in the AUDIO? of silent hill townfall? now i'm basically CERTAIN it's going to be analog horror / have ARG elements. i'm so close to certainty on that.
apparently the film matters because the idea for the film was what made them go "you know... maybe we should make new games." because... they thought about the film first. despite being a game studio.
yeah that's kind of how i feel. like i don't really think it's going to be super special. maybe bloober team (noted plagiarists) will be able to plagiarize this game so good they'll figure out how to write a good story. idk. but it'll draw young folks into the game and the series for sure. i am annoyed that basically they put the most generic Boring Video Game Man face on james. he's basically the same person as the protagonist from their blair witch game. but they can't use the original face, and i guess bloober team can't model a different face, so like, whatever.
forte's gonna be cool.
Yeah right, mate, you're not fooling me. ;)
EXPOSED!!!!
I think Silent Hill: Townpour is a good idea. Wait, was it Downfall?... never mind
It's townpour now! MURPHY!!
Maybe one of em will be good.
When you find out SH2 is a time Playstation Exclusive:
"Brought to you by the good people at Sony!"
Thanks, I like a good spicy Hawaiian. Yeah I was suprised that sh2/3/4 were not thrown up on gog or steam. Oh well!
It just feels like Konami are flinging stuff at the wall to see what sticks. Which is an objectively terrible idea for a franchise as delicate and convoluted as Silent Hill. They should just reboot the whole thing.
I don`t want to play with Murphy again!
Murphy is bae
In my opinion a remake of silent hill 2 is redundant, no matter who makes it
Spot on.
If the Remake is bad, We will definitely need some Layers of Beer to get over it ;)

Figurings?"
cashing in on that nostalgia! Yeah personally im more into the other games announced than the remake.
Townfall and F have a chance to be good, everything else I have no faith in.
Spotted the silent hill purist
I’m only interested in SH:F
And that’s it
I played an NTSC rip of Silent Hill on my chipped PS1 as a kid, which made it black and white and absolutely fucking terrifying.
Remake culture will be the death of me
Remakes have there place in art but there is a few things that can't be topped.
Pinned comment
The fact that Bloober thinks a third person camera will "help immerse players in the world" makes it more than clear they don't understand SH2 (or just SH in general) at any level beyond the surface. Mary in the clouds? James staring at a noose with sad puppy eyes? Can't wait for "press X to 'Maria!'"
Let's not even get into this being a movie game now
At least F looks intriguing if nothing else.

*Hello there. My name is James Sunderland, and I'm an everyman...*
At least compared to the Guy Cihi original, anyway 🤷♂️
Like i said, good or bad, we win! and thank you!
What annoys me is instead of remaking SH1, they instead choose SH2. My dreams of seeing a remake of the original game in the same vein of RE remake are never gonna come true sadly.
You know something tells me this guy doesn’t like outlast
What gives you that impression? 😂
Feels bad, konamis like that dad who ditched you but came back to your corpse just to cash in on the remakes.
Christophe Gans messed up Silent Hill. Did he even finish Silent Hill 1?
Well, he is a REAL gamer.. *giggles*
Good shit 🤘
Hey Thomas... Wait it has to sound Japanese.
Hey Thomasu-san millions are gonna tune in to see and talk about the SH2 remake, how will stifle negative criticism?
Make a small youtuber make lukewarm videos about Blooper Teams games?
Brilliant, it got 150k views now we will make millions not from the name of the IP but from this!
People are so fucking weird some times.
God damn it Thomas!
Bro if you don't know who Christophe Gantz is that's really on you lmao
Just throw me Silent Hill f and I'll play it. SH2 Remake does look gorgeous, but I don't have much interest in it.
My first reaction was this remake looks like shit. I saw the follow up with game play and said this remake looks like shit. Coupled with the fact that the only blubber game I could play even a little was layer of fear before getting bored.. not looking good.
The remake I always wanted… from a team I always hated.
Meh, could have been Quantic Dream or.. (gag) Red Barrels!
@@ScottsGameAsylum Unfortunately, Quantic Dream is currently hard at work ruining something else I used to love - Star Wars. Lol.
today was an incredibly foggy day in my town, so i went to the internet to search some silent hill music and just found out about this remake, tbh, it looks great, then saw it had pushback by fans, so i watched your previous video about the boob company and their last game won me over, i am pretty confident it will a good remake, and the newer one looks dope as hell, i really like the artistic direction, you can go only so far with the creepy town setting.
TL:DR run-on sentence much?
outlast kinda fire though
Yeah, a tire fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
