    I used a single wall tent many years ago and the condensation inside was significant. My double wall tent I now use does not get condensation but you’re correct, the fly does get wet. I just like the inside dry.

    Baxter and baby Bax wa fun. Love the Bison, glad you got it. Also glad you're making use of that bear canister you bought for the Lake Tahoe trail. Makes a good table for your food too! The guy probably thought you were homeless. The road was perfect for racing (did it back in the day). As soon as I saw the smoke stacks, I knew where you were. Overall a very interesting stealth camping trip.

    Hopefully next time you can find a stealthier place where you will not risk getting run over. Yes, sil-nylon tents are nice in that a lot of them are free-standing but I think if you vent a Dyneema tent well the benefits outweigh the sil-nylon. Thanks for sharing its a pleasure to listen.

    Open field with no tree cover, signs of people hanging out previously, bright green tent higher than knee height all make for not a favorable stealth location. You can't count on hiding in plain sight and must assume if your in sight you will be seen. Steve will mentor you.

    • @hikingdancer
      @hikingdancer  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I was seen because of my headlamp at night…not because of my tent being higher than knee height. But yes, I’d love to be mentored by Steve .

      @@hikingdancer yes I realize that but I was just mentioning some of the factors that can get you found. You might try a military camo bivy if you get into stealthing. An ICS has a blackout feature
      That will allow you to use as much light as you want inside the tent. Be safe.

    You say people are in their heads, but since 9/11 and since the recent anniversary, people are much more aware of their surroundings. I’m a truck driver and I make mental notes of license plates and color and makes of cars I see that seem out of place. Remember, it was a truck driver that saw the car that police were looking for and parked next to it blocking it in years ago. It was the guys who were shooting random people in Walmart and Home Depot parking lots. I worry about you doing this stuff alone. Can’t you team up with someone?

    Those ants will find a way to get in your tent and backpack. That train is the prison escape train. I have an issue with even on trail people are so focused on the music they are listening to or the video they are shooting they do not notice their surroundings. They do not see the deer, the bear, the wild hogs, chipmunks, squirrels or other animals.
