The gaming industry has hit some kind of Hollywood Era were Marvel Movie/Action movies are copy and pasted with horrible nonsensical plots or actors being selected with political motivation. I saw this coming after Skyrim and playing New Vegas. It's obvious that major game companies have been watering down their games. It was only a matter of time before people got sick of their shit.
Rockstar, CD Projekt Red and (to a lesser extent) Nintendo are exceptions to this rule. Insomniac and Naughty Dog as well. These companies almost always make quality games.

They had a misleading description for the skyrim special edition. It was suppose to have a cloth map which was paper. The statue was plastic (mine was bent). Also if you ordered the hard back special edition game Guide with the collectors edition they were supposed to engrave your name on it and didnt. So what's new about this? Also this is why I quit preordering. Bethesda fucking me over did me a favor in the long run.
This is brilliant... paper card to download the game, plastic bag that will fall apart within the year... so 4 years down the road, all evidence of the game will be long gone and Bethesda can deny the whole thing.

In my opinion this is the worst year for gaming I have ever seen in the 29 years I have been playing them. The insane level of corporate greed and also the ignoring of the fan bases of game franchises and then the social agenda being pushed have caused it.
Feel you man. I've only bought 3 games that came out this year (2018). Go back to last gen; and it was me buying dozens of games, every year. It's fucking sad, but hey at least my real life gun collection has been growing because of it. Definitely more useful than some video game any how. So silver lining, I guess?
Bo4? Read dead 2? I mean in my opinion those justify everything about this years games. They are two great games that came out not to long ago that are really great.
Yeah I remember the golden joystick going to Fortnite. Someone asked me to come up with a better game from 2018, but aside from RDR2, which also received awards, I could only think of Kingdom Come: Deliverance. And while that game is amazing we can't give it "Game of the Year" because it had too many flaws. They are working on a sequel, I think that might be a real contender when it comes out.
Razer Bioware's like, "Phew no one remembers how we raped ME fans with Andromeda." Fuck that, take heed Bethesda...gamers don't forget. We'll still be salty 2 yrs later.
Nic Bova Yea, poor Bioware with the evil overlord. However, I feel confident that EVEN if they had more time, the writing would still have been shit, because they had a team of amateur SJWs spearheading a AAA game while the big boys focused on Anthem. And in my opinion, the writing was the worst part.
Actually because of the collectors edition being the way it is and what they advertise. The people that bought that version could sue because it's false advertisement. They advertised a canvas bag in this edition and people got a nylon bag instead and with no notice about it at all until they got it. So yes they could be sued for it. Just grab some popcorn and watch this show continue. They're just digging their own grave at this point.

Call me a conspirator but I'm calling it now. Bethesda's gonna use this failure to hype up a "new engine" for the consumers and use it as another marketing ploy. If it happens that means they made money on a game that was non-refundable & doomed to fail to hype a new engine.
I think they already did try this, but, it was pointed out its just the same creation engine, with some upgrades. It will be the same buggy mess we are too familiar with.

If there is a lawsuit Bethesda will have to make it pretty public that they didn't even sell you a game, you were merely renting it from them. And once their gross business practices make it to the ears of the whole fan base, even the fanboys will have to open their eyes and see the truth: their fandom was exploited instead of supported.
No, nope, that won't happen at all. It's not a hidden thing. It's commen knowledge that you don't own games anymore, you own the licence to play the game. It's in the licence agreements that no one ever reads. When we went from physical copies to digital copies it was over, we no longer own any game, we own the rights to play the game. If anything happens to steam for example, you can lose all your games and there is nothing you can do about it cause you don't own those games. They haven't done anyhting shady at all regarding to "owning" the game, it's perfectly legal. I don't like it, but it's how it is, we all accepted it when we kept buying games digitally. Before you want to correct me. A few years ago there was this digital store owned by IGN's parent company. direct2drive. I bought Swat 4 with the expansion there. I "owned" it digitally. I thought. Direct2drive was put on sale, another company bought it, i believe it was gamestop or some other American chain. This new company how ever didn't purchase the licence to sell SWAT 4, so i as buyer suddenly no longer had access to my copy anymore. It was gone from my library, i no longer had the rights to play the game, cause they didn't had the correct licence.
@@Jorendo first, there is no such thing as common knowledge. Second, not many companies claim to retain the exclusive rights to the games they sell. Third, regardless of how quiet something may be in the fine print of the end user agreement, to use it as the defense in your lawsuit it will have to be made loud and clear. Unless they settle out of court, Bethesda will have to admit to their sleazy business practices. Of course, their legion of game journos and TH-cam fanboys who are willing to stretch the truth on behalf of their corporate overlords will inevitably defend the practices as legitimate and somehow for the benefit of the players and the fans. Hell, they're doing it right now, praising Bethesda and putting Fallout 76 on a golden pedestal. In their eyes they can do no wrong and they'll say whatever they have to to make you believe it, too. Always watch gameplay, ignore Kotaku-style sycophantic apologists, and make your own judgments.
And digital property and copyright are part of the problem. Besides, don't excuse the practice as legitimate simply because people do it. Its just like owning a digital movie from Xfinity or something; once you no longer pay for the service you lose access to that digital property and one reason I still buy DVD's. I want to own it and not rent it. If they're selling us something, it should be clear what exactly it is they are indeed selling to us. That's what this lawsuit is about, and of we get the right judge hearing the case you can be sure these licensing-style game sales will no longer be able to be insinuated as actual sales of property hidden in terms of service agreements. The point is people thought they were buying something when they weren't though they were led to believe otherwise. And there is lengthy scientific documentation stating no one reads ToS agreements, which will one day invalidate their use since they will not be known or understood by the end user. Much like the oft-maligned arbitration clauses, this kind of policy will not last forever.
@@FiveFootFall Don't get me wrong, i don't like this any more then you do. What they are doing is fucked up, like the bullshit you can't refund after you downloaded the game. Hell they can jump high and low what ever they want, but here in Europe they have to abide to European commerce laws (sorry if my english isn't perfect, not native english btw). Steam already lost that battle when they didn't allow refunds, but were forced to give refunds to European consumers as that is a right over here. Same goes for Bethesda, it's just a bit hussle i believe to get a refund when in Europe. I say it's common knowledge cause it's been mentioned plenty of times by people who are against this behavior. Jim Sterling for example has some great video's about copyrights and how games are live/life services that mean you don't own the game anymore but are at the grace of the Publishers. It also became aware when Ubisoft and others used those godaweful DRM programs, that as soon as they would quit with the DRM servers you no longer had access to your game anymore. Something we saw with Games for Windows Live shutdown, suddenly a whole range of games became unplayable (or wouldn't save anymore, etc). It was up to developers to patch they game to a working state without GFWL, not all of them did that, resulting in many games unplayable. The problem is, but i could be wrong, but as long as it's mentioned in a terms of agreement it's valid. Unless it conflicts with other excisting laws, they can put what ever they like in there and make you only have a licence to play instead of owning a game. It might get obsolete one day, but as long as that day isn't there, i don't think consumers get their right when it comes to owning the game or just paying to have a licence to play for as long as the publisher thinks its okay for you to play it. I'm only refering to the licence, not about any other mistakes Bethesda made here like the false advertisements, no Terms of Agreements can protect them against false advertisements. I'm not appologizing Bethesda for anything at all. I already figured Bethasda would fuck this game up (didn't expect it to be this bad though) so i refused to pre order and wait for reviews to come out. Reviews that i trust, i don't go to Kotaku and other mainstream game sites for reviews as they tend to be the hype train setters and are hardly ever critical about big AAA games or favorite publishers/developers. Hell I'm surprised they haven't even writen articles yet how the collectors edition people are all cry babies cause they are angry at not getting the promised bag. Seeing how they massively attacked gamers for being angry at Blizzard for their Diablo blunder. I'm not on the side of Bethesda and the youtubers who promote this game and are over excited, well some of them probably are really excited and like the game, but most of them are as you say to much of a fanboy and blinded by getting things from Bethesda or are in super denial as we often see with player made reviews anywhere. Also heard that some youtube influencers were given the quallity bags, so that doesn't help either when they get the good stuff, but those who paid for it get some cheap ass bag you wouldn't even use to scoop up your dogs shit (in my country we have to scoop it up and trow it away in special bins, to prevent people from stepping in dog shit all the time).
Highly doubt that. Those fan boys are the same ones signing praise of 76 and calling us crybabies or haters for just being critical of the game. You can't break through a delusion like that.
Yep. I've quite literally hyping the everliving daylights out for RE7 and RE2 remake ever since getting a wisp out of the fact they were being made. Still, I steeled myself, did not get to play either at day one, and calmly bought physical copies of each around day 3. Thankfully they're both great games that I'll cherish for a long time, but if Capcom ever pulled shit like this, I ain't falling for it.
@@infidelcastro6687 You think I don't know that? Some of the best games I've ever played came out in recent years. @@theblackbaron4119 that's a lot of claims that aren't substantiated at all. If you look at what other studios did with the engine then you'll understand it isn't about that. Also, yes you can polish the mechanics, why wouldn't you be able to? With more time the team might have actually used different mechanics, but given the extreme crunch we'll never know if they could have. They basically just copied those from Fallout 3.
@@Nerobyrne All I'm hearing from you is there COULD. You wouldn't be able to improve a lot on that engine without completely retooling the ancient engine. What we got was a bad game, with glitches. It's fine if you enjoyed it, so did I enjoy Oblivion. But I know it wasn't nearly as good as other roleplaying games. Pete Hines is the Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications-their top-dog mouthpiece, if you will-at Bethesda Softworks, the publisher. He has no control over what Bethesda Games Studio does as a studio. That dishonor goes to Todd Howard, and then the bigheads above him over at ZeniMax. This nylon bag fiasco, however, can rest on his desk since this is, at the end of the day, a marketing blunder, aggravated even further by Bethesda's response.

So apparently zaric zackaron did a video about the creation engine explaining how it's not the engine that's the problem, but what bethesda did to it. He shows examples of good games that run off the same engine, and ironically enough part of the engine was a tool to make mmos with.

If you've been playing Fallout since Fallout or even if you picked up the series at Fallout 3, I would be extremely surprised if you could honestly tell me you haven't noticed a change in the atmosphere of the games or the quality. @r h If my math adds up I'm turning 45 this year, so we're pretty close. Yeah, you get exactly what I mean. I'm not necessarily saying it's a "bad thing", but today's society is so focused on instant gratification and convenience and that's what fuels a lot of this crap. Honestly, I'm a little bit surprised that most "loot box games" don't require players to open/link social media accounts to their games and force tweets or posts about all the things they've won from loot boxes or instantly snap images of earning achievements, which the ToS would grant them the right to post to all of the player's feeds or timelines or whatever, effectively giving them the right to commercialize a player's "private" social outlets and, at the same time, making sure players get notifications every time someone wins an extremely valuable or prestigious item to encourage the need/desire to go after it that much harder.

I totally get that there's a lot of stuff we didn't know about it until it came out and people showcased things, but given the trends at Bethesda and what was known at the time it was pretty obvious to me they were going to break the universe even further. I'm pretty sure my Steam review still says something like "It can be a fun game, but it's a horrible Fallout game". If it's your cup of tea, by all means enjoy it! If you've been playing Fallout since Fallout or even if you picked up the series at Fallout 3, I would be extremely surprised if you could honestly tell me you haven't noticed a change in the atmosphere of the games or the quality. Fallout 4 felt like a lame attempt to see just how many Mass Effect fans could be convinced to try it.
@r h It's all good, There's decades of research and education that's gone into creating the AAA game industry we have now. No idea how old you are, guessing younger than I am, though it doesn't matter in the long run... it's much easier to see when you've been watching the industry develop and seeing each step of the process to get to where we are now. Here's the scary thing... Realize that all of the delivering less and charging more while telling lies that the public swallows like it was sugar and enjoying being bent over a barrel by the gaming industry, they learned from our politicians and elected officials. They're doing all the same and worse to us and hiding it even better.
I see Gundam, I click.
Now if I could just evolve into Billy.
Only at level 45 with a fire stone equipped
@@sabertooth160 So THAT'S what I was missing!
I literally did the same thing (not the evolve into Billy part, saw notification and clicked part).
@Karl Müller What a coincidence, I have a box of Dots right here!
7:26 oddly specific, but I can actually relate :/
Just got an ad for a canvas tent. Haaaaa.
Nice pic from dead show. Kk
The sheep baaa'ing during the poster but fucking killed me! Roflcopterz
Oh that reddit response from Bethesda was the stuff of legend. Oof! Ooooooof! Fuckin tears from me laughing so hard.
My question is;
If TH-camrs that didn't buy the collector's edition got a free one.... How come Bethesda can't spend $5 on canvas material???????
Your timing is impeccable, Gundam. I was literally just watching other videos on FO76 from Laymen Gaming, ESO, Gopher, StraightUpIrish, and Optimus. Really appreciate your perfectly timed upload for my binge on the matter. Thank you!
That Gordon Gecko opening was Hilarious Lol
I must say that i'm enjoying this just maybe a tad to much.
And no i didna buy this game, hell i'm still embarrassed that i got fallout 4 for a steep discount.
4:06 right there... nailed it. Lets suck as much money out of this IP as possible.
I hope the people that accepted Oblivion,Fallout 3,Skyrim,Fallout 4,and now Fallout 76 learned to not do give your money blindly again to not only Bethesda, but none of these companies until they proven their worth and effort to us.
I never pre order a game often. I preordered spyro reignited trilogy because that was my childhood. But normal AAA games I don't preorder because I want to know how they will go.
Oblivion was a great game
Fallout 3 and Skyrim were dumbed down but still good games
Fallout 4 was mediocre and souless but still decently playable
Fallout 76...is a sort of terrible that is actually astonishing.
And there is the best NV, not even made by bethesda hahaha@@SteadfastandResolute
Seriously love your intro it gives me memories of my childhood of the late 90s and early 2000's when Gundam was on cartoon Network.
The game, regardless of what edition/version you bought, had no physical media/disc for the game itself so wtf did Bethesda really need to cut costs on something else for other than to keep profit margins high?
It came with that little cardboard disc thing - I'm sure if you put it in your disc drive it'll just work.
@@m.c.2814 Fallout 76 - It just works! - Tom Howard
See, they did that to create a loophole so that noone could get a refund, if you download it, you can't get a refund, but since you HAVE to download it since there's no disc, nobody gets a refund
There are physical copies of the game.
@@footballhamster Referring to the PC version here, buddy. It was a disc made of cardboard.
5:57 "That glows in the Fucken Dark" BAAAA BAAA Farm Animal Noises. Holy Fucken Shit MY SIDES 🤣
Dam this year is a harsh competition for worst company of America.
I think it's the White House tbh
You hit this shit right on the head. The 6:00 minute mark was on point. Love the work you put in to this platform. Keep your head up just the way you do and you got this. TY!
Todd: greed, yes it just works
"What are you planning to do about this?"
"Nothing" (You can almost hear the laughter at Bethesda's Office).
THERE'S A GUNDAM DOWN HERE!
wreck 1990 So hard to find you nowadays still worth it though glad to see that cause is still alive. Sinistergrey. If you are out there keep on Gundaming!
Damn straight there's a GUNDAM DOWN HERE!!!...albeit quite a bit lower in the comments section now due to the subscriber swell, but still here nonetheless dammit! XD lol.
sinistergrey3 we accomplished our mission. Gundam blew the fuck up and it’s great
Many plastics contain softening agents which, over years time, eventually part with it. Then you get a sticky layer on everything, and the plastic becomes stiff and brittle. That will be the end to not just a pair of trousers or a Bethesda suffocation aid but even tool grips.
I am glad I saw how bad Fallout 76 would be and did not consider trying it.
I also had some old nylon shorts once and they not only got melted in the dryer, they also melded with all them other clothes into a pile of stinky, toxic horror.
I fucking loved skyrim, but for me, after the shit show of fallout 4, and now fallout 76, I have pretty much lost all and any hope and hype I had for elder scrolls 6. I’ve gone from bein super excited seeing the trailer at BE3 on stream, to just disappointed that I won’t be getting a truly good game from Bethesda or something that suprasses what skyrim was in 2011
I've been feeling pretty naustalgic for Skyrim again recently. Might have to reinstall it and mod another playthrough.
One thing: Bethesda did learn a lot of this. 1. "It just works" and 2. "They can get away with it".
Btw one of your best openings! Really fun!
