  • How to change your broken engine mount - Mazda MX5 Miata ND ND2 ND3
    Not sure what has happened in my case but my passenger side engine mount had cracked. In todays video I will show how to change this out and the rubber mount it sits on on my 2019 Mazda MX5 ND2.
    I would think the procedure is the same if you have an ND1 or ND3. Also I am not changing anything on the driver side as that is still in one piece. But the procedure is more or less the same
    Torque specs

    Great video maz. 🎉 Could you list the torque numbers for the bolts, and links to where you find the install guides?

    Awesome video man, thank you. My engine mount (drivers's side) has cracked almost identically to yours there. I don't plan to do it myself, but its great to know what does into replacing it.

      @@Themazcornergetting rear ended at 70kmh probably had something to do with it, though I can’t be fully sure. It caused a really rough idle though, engine shaking like it was only running on 3 cylinders suspended by rope. That and some really strange side effects that have gone away now it’s all fixed up.

      @@ethanrushbrook3314 ohh no, hope you did not sustain any physical injuries!
      That would for sure be the root cause. The mounts are supposed to break in order to minimize damage.
      Hope everything else also got sorted!

      @@Themazcorneryeah 😅. No permanent physical injuries from me or my passenger. The back was pretty messed up though. I’ll share some photos if you want, it’s pretty interesting to see how it crumples.

    Thanks, interesting to watch as I wondered how much if anything needed to be done from above as I have a turbocharged car which would add a whole lot of complexity. I also check my mounts regularly and they are fine to date, but its good to know what is involved.

      Yeah I can imagine with a snail there is a bunch of stuff in the way.
      In general on a stock car it's rather straight forward. There could be some hoses on the driver side that needs to be put aside to access the bolts. Bot would not think it would be that much different

    What were the symptoms you had with a broken engine mount? I feel some vibrations and strange noise when the car is stalled but disappears when I start moving, I was suspecting it's an engine mount maybe

    • @Themazcorner
      @Themazcorner  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      From what I recall I did not notice anything in particular more than that I remember the shifter did vibrate more than usual from time to time
      But you can see it from the engine bay

      It's actually partly hollow and is a cast piece. So not that strong as such

    Nicely done ! Did Mazda cover the new mounts on warranty?

    • @Themazcorner
      @Themazcorner  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks buddy! No they did not, it was not covered under the extended warranty. They where saying potentially under goodwill but I was to impatient to go through that process.
