@@chetthebee1322 Onibaba is on Criterion and I’ve wanted to see it for quite a while and will have to move it up my watchlist. I still need to see Of Unknown Origin and Evilspeak. I own the others, except I need to checkout Child’s Play Again. Great list!
@@excelsiormoviereviews It's probably more of a supernatural folk movie than an horror movie but I wanted to go with something other than The Omen. Evilspeak is a Clint Howard movie and I just got to meet him recently so I wanted to put this one on the list. Of Unknown Origin probably is more of a Dark Comedy but I remember when it came out how rats and the fear of them was high in the public consciousness at the time.
I'm not Catholic, and The Omen movies creep me out. Because what's going on within the movies framework makes sense. The entire thing is, "But will we go to heaven if we're wrong and kill a kid?" So the protagonist has to know, is this child the antichrist? Most modern religious horror movies are written by people who don't understand the faith aspect.
@@SPBASS very true. I think that people that really freaked out about The Omen and The Exorcist were God fearing people and you have less of that now because people weren’t raised with religion, especially Catholicism.
@@excelsiormoviereviews The Exorcist never scared me because I grew up with sisters who were always pretending to be possessed. So like at 5 years old I read up all about possession. So when I saw The Exorcist in like 1980 I was like this is bullshit. Ruined it for myself. 😂🤣😂🤣 I mean, The Exorcist is more flawed than that regardless, The Vatican would absolutely not send a priest with a crisis of faith into that situation. That being something which gets mentioned in The Popes Exorcist and that The Nun gets right.
So happy you took the October challenge my movie friend!! Great choices.
