I loved these games when I was a kid, super fun watching these.
Been playing through these lately (completed DKC and 80% finished with DKC2) and this was delightful to watch. My son (5) is playing DKC now and it has been a great lesson on frustration! It's pretty amazing to watch someone breeze through this surprisingly difficult game.
Sick run, dude is very talented. 30:20 was incredibly unfortunate though.
8:50 holy crap, is that secret specifically for people who hate the mine cart level? The devs thought of everything.
I remember finding that secret before TH-cam I limped dicked the yump then decided I wanted to go back and try again and didn’t make it back to the platform then I was like holy shit it’s the end of the level that’s awesome but I like the cart crashing and shit

Already saw some run failed at this exct point, some snakes also rarely spawn too soon... seem to be a glitchy area

Can also confirm, they usually spawn right after one another, always have to me from what I remember, so this one wasn't on Eazinn at all

Man run was going so well, too bad for all those mistakes on the last world, well, shit happens in marathons.
This and Super Mario World were my childhood. I still have my SNES *WITH* Super Mario World and Donkey Kong Country in prime condition hooked up to my tv.

The best part on these speed runs is when they mess up or die and they get frustrated. Very entertaining.

I know there are like two different revisions of DK Country released for the SNES.I found this out looking for the ROMs online. Does the speed run matter what version you are playing?
There are three US versions for DKC. 1.0 and 1.1 are practically the same when it comes to speedruns, while 1.2 has a lot of changes that makes it slower. One being that you are unable to skip the victory fanfare after finishing a level, something that will cost you about 50 seconds throughout the run. There are also a couple of bugfixes.

I'm pretty sure back when my friend and I playfully competed to do this game in college we got times around 40 minutes without using glitches, so, hmm
Normally when you play this game, you go by the in game timer, which is a lot lower than the real time you get.
The current WR for this category is 32:12, which equals an in game time of 27 minutes. A time of about 40 minutes on the in game timer is perfectly manageable without the use of glitches, and is likely times you got in college.
