I've often wondered what the Steam Tours have on offer and it's been quite a good business they've done. I am glad that you were able to take the Lady June out on such a wonderful day out. The catering looked fantastic and the service on par with any good resturaunt. I'm sure I've seen many gallons of whisky transported in that tanker that provided the soft water for the "Scots Guardsman" 46115, (the one I have a model of) Yes, times have changed so much in the past 19 years on these and the other services, with the 'Central Locking Doors' requirement but it's a very 'risk-averse' business; on the Railways especially, now-a-days. It would still be a nice day out and some of the views from the train are likely to be different. It was nice to see Lady June enjoying the day and the meals. Fantastic memories and thank you for sharing them with us. It may encourage a few folks to consider this as their holiday treat. Again, thank you for taking us along, Keith. You're right about not being able to enjoy charters this way anymore, although I say don't be sad but be glad you got to do it and have it on film - unless they go on a heritage line, so many of today's enthusiasts won't get to experience this or sitting behind the driver of a first generation DMU. Wonderful video of your day out and fantastic weather and scenery for the Cumbrian coast return.
