I own one of these, on the whole I like it, just one or two things (that do not impact on the running of the car) don’t work. 1. Stop start NEVER works 2. Automatic full bean headlights. I can drive nearly all the way to work and when it comes to an unlit lane the Auto system has gone off. 3.The heated steering shell has pealed. 4. Low voltage on off side indicator, when you indicate to turn right, the sat nav sends you to the nearest garage. Not covered by warranty 🙄.
To get the boot kick to work there is a nice trick, you crawl under the car from the back and you emerge between the two front wheels, then it will work
Great review as always. I am interested in this car as an alternative to my first pick CRV. Like you said, you don't see many of either around. I like that exclusivity!
The glove box is useless because it's basically a 3008, so it's built in France and Peugeot don't reposition the fuse box to accommodate right hand drive countries
@@theodoratsourli4862 Hi, I am a proud owner of the Opel, Grandland X since 24th January 2020. It has been great drive. It will take some time to get use to the various gadgets in the SUV. The various systems in the car are useful and I sugest that you use avail yourself to them like lane assist etc. It is a safe car to drive with plenty of room. I would like to conclude by saying that, driving an Opel Brand creates an exclusive club among us because there are not many who own and drive Opel brand of car. Good luck.
HI@theredmen1093 I'm thinking about getting the Grandland, since the engine is Peugeot have you got any idea if it's a good engine or does it have issues I should be aware of? Thanks in advance
LOVE this car. Opel should've added seat massagers; the perfume feature & ambient lighting from the Peugeot 3008 & the 147kw 1.6L engine from the Astra but that'll be in the Hybrid 4. Besides that its a great crossover
Good review, feel your pain on the kick function. Had a Holden Claias (insignia) on hire in Australia. It had it too. Figured it out eventually, it shined a Holden logo on the ground, flick your foot over it and it worked every time. I miss that V6 ☹️
Question: have you activated the 'kick' function ? ;) Either from the menu either from the button on the hatch (minute 15'36"). Had my Grandland X from 13 months already and the 'kick' ALWAYS worked from the first swing of the leg.
I've found out since that you need the key in your pocket, if it's in the car it won't work (stops some randomer being able to open your boot with their foot when you're in the car)!
Nobby. Hi. PR Executive here. You have good things to say with an engaging manner. It’s a shame you lose credibility because of the way you dress when reviewing. You’re a good guy who could go places so please don’t allow this particular attention to a detail hold you back. Wishing you the very best.
You’d have to define better. They will both do the same job in terms of space etc but there’s more luxurious touches in the Mazda (in GT spec anyway). I’d say the boot in the Mazda is bigger too but there’s a bit more rear leg room in the Opel.
Nobby On Cars if the battery power is low it will conserve energy and not activate the kick function. Make sure you start the engine for a while before making the video. 😅

what a load of crap, I've had mine (2019 SRI Nav model) for over a year with no issues at all, whereas my brother who owns a Quashqai had to take his in for repair 3x in the first year (2017 model)!!!

You open the trunk by passing the foot under the bumper from right to left, non kicking it. 👍
The glove box is useless because it's basically a 3008, so it's built in France and Peugeot don't reposition the fuse box to accommodate right hand drive countries
I ripped it off in one video (that didn't make the cut) and discovered what it was all about then!
@@NobbyOnCars expect all future opels to have tiny glove boxes 😒
I also did an review of the Opel Grandland X, I liked it a lot! It looked better than the Peugeot 3008
nice work!
@@NobbyOnCars thank you!
Great Review. I have ordered mine. Waiting for delivery. Did a test drive last week with the Opel Agents.
Hello! We couldn’t do the test drive there was no availability! Can u share your driving experience? Thank u so much in advance 😊

Ah, V6 engines.
Have mine for 1 year. Diesel 1.6 Cdti with 120 hp, not bad car but I can´t pass over squeaking door plastic, terrible.
For the kick sensor: you have to just do it once and then you have to get a step back, it will work then
You need the key in your pocket, I had left it in the car (and found out the hard way)!
@@NobbyOnCars I thought it might have been the shoe you were wearing the material of it lol

U want to try a 1.2 petrol bloody quick frugal for size of car .
I was looking at these but i think its just a tad too big in size for wat im looking for. I have a Mokka and wanting sumthing the same size as that
15:12, in Irland you drive either on the left side or the right side, it's up to you.
😂
Another informative review great workout with the boot you must be 3kg lighter
The big black thing lol.... isn't the touch screen 8 inches ? A 2.0L 180kW petrol engine with an 8-speed dual clutch auto would've been great
The 2.0 litre in the Commodore is 192kw or 257 bhp is stonking . I own one , it’s a rocket.
its cheaper than 3008 and better i realize from all the reviews ...
it's basically a peugeot though.

So in Ireland you get the Opel or both Opel and Vauxhall?
Just Opel.
The Vauxhall has better options for the same price but in Ireland we get the Opel brand exact same car but less extras for the price ..

Hi mate what’s the room like with three adults in the back. Cheers
Similar width to all the usual comparisons but the near flat floor is a bonus over the others and will help with the middle adult and their feet.

could i plug me kettle into the back plug socket lol.. be handy to make a cuppa on long trips

Is that the full options model?
Yes it's fairly specced up!
Good detailed review 👍 pity about the kick test!!
I've since learnt... key in pocket :)
Is it not unsafe to rub the door to open it? What if an hijacker does the same
The key has to be on your person so someone can’t open it without the key. It’s why I ran into difficulties trying to open the boot ☺️
Wasted 3 minutes of my life watching the dude trying to get the boot opened.
yep, its annoying...and when he was driving, the camera is focused on his face instead of the road...
Door mirrors actually mate, wing mirrors went out in the 60s
Wasn’t around then sorry
