@BrianCatalano I don't even shoot log, dynamic range and quality is basically the same a7iii and up, only difference for me when I upgraded was the framerate and colour, shooting slowmo with active stabilisation makes handheld usable
I also ended up selling the a7cii and took advantage of a great deal on the ZVE1 when it was on sale. The skin tones captured by the ZVE1 are significantly better, reducing the need for extensive adjustments to greens and oranges compared to the A7CII. Additionally, I found myself spending excessive time denoising A7Cii images and footages, stabilizing them, and constantly facing storage challenges. With the ZVE1, there is remarkable flexibility that allows me to capture moments whenever and wherever I desire.
I have had my ZV-E1 for over a year now and I have been able to capture amazing videos and photos! No regrets at all ! If in the future Sony release another Hybrid Camera that has the Low Light and Dynamic Active Stabilisation capabilities of the ZV-E1 I would be sold !
I couldn't agree more! I think many of us are hoping for the next iteration of this sensor from the FX6ii, FX3ii, down to the ZV-E1ii which hopefully will have roughly the same performance and features but be a 6k 24MP sensor... I think it's a way off from now but I'd be sold, too!
I plan on getting the Sony ZV E1 with the Viltrox 40mm 2.8 as a travel camera to go along with my DJI Pocket 3 and my Xiaomi 14 Ultra shooting DNG RAW video on Motioncam. Eventually, I might get more glass, but I think the 40mm will be my main lens.
Just bought the Zve1 for 1400 dollars and I’m beyond happy with it. No over heat on my daily use so far. 10/10. I already own a a7c so if I ever need the more high quality pictures,… I will use my a7c.
Hello thanks for sharing the video, I am an amateur who likes beautiful images. I have the a7c2 and I hesitate to complete my kit with the zve1 for a camera b but after seeing your video, I tell myself that they are very close and I think I will go for the osmo pocket 3. What do you think?
I completely get your dilemma and it's one I had as well. After I sold my ZV-E1 I picked up the pocket 3. (Review coming for it soon). They are not super comparable but for me I wanted to downsize my gear and thought the A7Cii and the Pocket 3 would be a nice combo to have ...and they are!
wow a 25-minute Masterpiece! I Knew you would keep the a7cii - just a great camera for both photo and video!!! My guess for a travel lens is ... 1) a fixed lens 2) 24mm just awesome content!
Ahhh... Thank you Oliver! It took me longer than I hoped but feels good to downsize my camera set-up! As for the lens... It's actually my first fun zoom that I can use travelling or on client shoots!
Holy smokes, that slow-mo shot of you running with the pool toy was WAY worth watching the video for lol. Secondly was that 2000 ISO vs. 2000 ISO test! I've seen what a higher res sensor can do with making noise finer in video, but this side by side really goes far to sell it over that stiff competition. I still miss my a7C mark 1 still, and have a soft spot for the "C" cameras. For me, all day the a7CII. It's still the only camera that would have me go back to full frame! I have no idea what lens you're bringing, but have a killer trip man. This video was great, as usual! Watching that Ermia video now, this guy is a solid cinematographer 👀.
Well I have been changing my setup and honestly could not justify having both an a7CR and a ZV-E1. As amazing as the ZV-E1 is, the a7CR does everything I need and especially since I added the Osmo Pocket 3 which honestly is plenty for my run and gun video needs outside of a studio situation. Just returned the ZV-E1. Loved the video Brian!
Thank you so much Rodney... And that's a brilliant combo, pretty much all your needs are met with that set up! I just picked up the pocket 3 too, so now I'm using my fx3 and pocket 3 as my b-cam instead of my zve1 on a gimbal... Not as good but wayyyy more compact!
@@andriidiachenko57 thank you... It's from alphagvrd. I think the color is called contour black. Here it is, and how I custom cut it: th-cam.com/video/0DEcELV5Hqk/w-d-xo.html
@BrianCatalano thank you so much for your help. Thats a really good saving man but its not full frame shouldnt i get that for better picture? I might still do cooking videos in the kitchen or a short video to my songs and i want the quality to be crazy good thats how the algorithim gives you better exposure i think. Whats your suggestion? Would that camera limit me on the full view?
@Htpzacariah I think the zve10ii which is the same sensor as the FX30 is a brilliant camera that is capable of professional/cinematic video and photos. Also, most cinema cameras today and throughout history are not full frame, so sensor size doesn't have as much to do with skill behind the camera. That being said the zve1 is an even better camera if you can afford it and as easy to use. The A7Cii is a better photo camera but slightly more difficult to use. All three options can equally get you the results you want though... with some practice. Yet, if I were you I would consider the zve10ii, fx30, or a6700 (all same sensor) and save some money and buy nice APSC lenses if budget is a concern.
First of all, great great video. Loved it. Especially the part where you made me not feel alone when watching reviews months later. I own a Leica q3, which I have dreamed about for years and sold all my Sony gear to get one camera to rule them all. After realizing I will need to step up my content creation game and that the Leica won’t help I bought the zv-e1 as a studio camera, but I fell in love with it. It’s such a great camera, and quite frankly, the best one I own. Yes, even better then the q3, as it is so much more versatile. I hadn’t touched my Leica in the past month or so, which breakes my heart, but the zv-e1 is simply amazing. You really can’t go wrong with it
@@theomerbarak I really appreciate that...and I know that's probably an uncommon thing to hear, that much praise of the zve1 over the q3. Yet, now I think you might have kick started me watching reviews of the q3--its like a cycle of pre-buyers remorse! Thanks again!
First, the online hate for the S9 will not settle down - it’s just a crappy camera. Second, glad you decided to keep the A7Cii. It is the better all-rounder and perfect for travel. Also, one feature you failed to mention that the A7Cii has that the ZV-E1 does not is Flexible Exposure Mode! If you are constantly switching between stills and video, it makes a HUGE difference. I would argue that feature is more important than Dynamic Active Stabilization. Lastly, I shoot almost exclusively in 1080p on my A7Cii and the footage looks great! The only caveat (which I don’t think you mentioned) is that HD 120p is only 8-bit so best to not shoot in SLOG3 when in that mode. Really enjoyed this video - and appreciate the time you took to make it. Have a great trip!!
I totally agree with the s9 reactions... It's like reviewers maybe slightly overhype a camera, which is understandable but it's somewhat transparent that there's a bias there, and the audience overcompensates to that lack of objectivity by piling on hate... And then both sides forget about the back and forth, clear eyed people actually get to test the camera out. This has massively happened, in my opinion, to the zve1... And thank you, you added a bunch of stuff here that I did fail to mention. I need you to proof read my scripts going forward as I often publish a video and immediately realize I missed a huge spec or detail! Thanks again!!
Hey Brian, last year I struggle a lot to choose between the 2 and finally picked up the A7CII, but now a year later... whats my feedback ? I choosed the A7CII for the 33MP so I can crop a lot in the video to get different types of shot and video reframing without losing quality BUT The big big downside is the stab. Really... Now one year later, Im starting to looking again for the zv-e1. I definitely miss the dynamic stab and the recording red light... 4K120 ? not really, yeah i am into "quality image" but come one, who can tell the difference between HD120 and 4K120 on TH-cam. I also thought I would use the A7CII for 4K streaming without overheating but again.... who gives a fuck about streaming in 4K. Nice light, nice lense and the zv e1 can handle a streaming without problem. I would love to see the same video shot side to side from a7cII and zve1 and crop into the image at 50-100 and 150% to see the quality difference. And I also cant find the information about rain and zv e1, does the internal mic can be sensitive to rain ? I mean on the A7CII there is just a hot shoe so no issues. see you !
I don't get all that, and your dilemma, hence making this video... The answer, now that you phrase it like that, is for the A7Cii and the zve1 to have a baby, some middle ground of specs... which may be the next generation of the fx3 and then zve1ii. Other than that iso test where I cropped in up to 800%, I haven't compared them in an outdoor environment in that way, but the results are what convinced me in the end, the images were remarkably similar... As for picking up weather like that, I'd probably consider a field recorder or the DJI mic 2s as the in camera mics probably wouldn't do well in the rain. I'll be curious what you decide in the future... Keep me updated!
@@BrianCatalano Sorry for the misunderstanding. When I said ‘I would like to see the same video to compare the quality on a cropped image,’ I meant I would like to see a clip with the same shot and settings, then crop into the image to see if there’s a significant difference between 12MP and 33MP. I often crop into my videos to create different shots from the same clip. Hope that makes it clearer. Do you really think the stabilization on the ZV-E1 isn’t that much better? I often do pan on my A7CII, and I always have bad wobling in the corner. Your videos are really cool mate !
Oh yeah, that makes sense... And you are right, I should have done a better test like that. I will say, as it's not a surprise, but punching in on the A7CII is a fair amount better. Yet, I don't tend to crop in that much. Surprisingly though, on my zve1 and fx3, I do use clear image zoom a lot because of the zoom rocker, and I'm never thinking that the results are bad. I think this is partially because most times I'm watching content for myself or for my clients on our phones, so for that reason, 1080p is more than good enough. I've also heard this happens in Hollywood movies more than we know, is that they crop in all the time, even on super 35 sensors and blown up in a theater, most people never notice... So I think within reason, cropping in on both cameras is doable but the advantage will go to the A7Cii. As for stability, yes the dynamic stabilization on the zve1 is leaps better, but know that it is achieving this look by also cropping in about 1.3 to 1.4 times on that 4.2k sensor... So you are losing resolution and if you pan side to side with dynamic stabilization, it may get a bit jumpy. So I always try to pan rather slowly. However, with a straight vlog, with your face centered and you're walking and talking, the zve1 is the best Sony camera! That being said, the A7Cii is so much better than the original A7C that I'm content with its active stabilization, and personally I don't notice the warpy corners that much. Hope that helps in any way... And thank you!!
@@BrianCatalano Very interesting, so if I understand you sent back the ZV and kept the A7CII? I try to ask myself if my desire to change is truly justified lol
If you are using Slog, the ZVE1 is just crazy- so much so it beats professional night vision and actually for average Joe, is too much, who wants to be using ND filters at night with 12800 ISO, and it can look noisy when you deviate. If however you film in S Cinetone, average Joe does get a lot more out of the ZVE1 as it can go above 2000 and still look very clean, whereas the A7Cii starts to look noisy. There are other tests on this on TH-cam. So ironically in real world use, for average Joe, if buying a ZVE1 think about whether you will use it in S Cinetone. Because I can shoot in extremely dark and totally clean in S Cinetone with the ZVE1.
These are all fantastic points and you're right. I'd also say though for your "more than middle of the road Joe" using slog3 on the A7Cii at 3200 is really nice too as very infrequently was I ever shooting at 12800 at night or with interiors, it's almost too much! That all being said, you are right that for me too, 2000 ISO in S-Cinetone on the zve1 (or my fx3) might be my favorite place to be and most useful for most people compared to the 500 ISO on the A7Cii
@@thatchinaboi1 yes but it doesn’t stop it getting noisy as you go above 640, which gets very noisy when you get to 2000 and above, right up to 12800. However in S Cinetone you can be filming in near dark conditions at 3200 and it’s very clean. Of course, a bit of dynamic range lost. There’s no much faffing around with Slog, even filming in the day at 640 you have to use ND filters to just get an exposed image, and even on a city street at night NDs are needed at 12800. You have to slightly over expose, and it’s no good for run and gun shooting, say on vacation. Slog is amazing for professionals, controlled environments but for ‘average Joe’ they should just use S Cinetone which gives great results even in very dark environments. Just my opinion.
I'm going to Porto Portugal to visit family. Been deciding between my fuji x100v, my old school day one purchase a7r3 , lumix s5ii or a7cr. A7CR with the sony zeiss 35 2.8 became my choice. The lens is mediocre, but its extreme compact form factor makes it a no-brainer compared to my my GM.
@@AllCarsUnited that's a killer collection of choices but I totally get your struggle...and probably would have picked the same body! Im not a 35mm person but I do prefer a compact lens over a GM when traveling so I think you are right on that choice too. I heard Porto was beautiful as well...great place to shoot! Just curious, do you use your r3 much or do you keep it because it's been with you for so long?
I currently own a Alpha 7c with 1.8 50 mm prime lens. I am doing TH-cam tutorials with this camera. I am happy with quality wise. But I want to shoot 4k with 60fps which isn’t available on my 7c. So will the ZV E1 will have the same or better detail and sharpness as the 7c. Will it be the worth upgrade? I am shooting the iPhone videos. Will soft skin touch affect the quality of the video. My recording time is maximum 20 minutes. Will overheat a concern? I am sorry that I am new to this. Please help with the best decision. Thank You.
That's a good question... And I can say if you want the best high frame rate camera (4k 60fps and 4k 120fos) for the price, it is the ZVE1. The zve1 is incredible! It has a better image in my opinion to the A7C although it's slightly less sharp. Here's my comparison: th-cam.com/video/teF2Y7wkG54/w-d-xo.html The zve1 won't overheat unless you are running it for a long time in high frame rates or in a hot environment for a long time. I have overheating test (a video) on my channel too. I recommend upgrading...
Nice skin on that! I have a similar dilemma - I upgraded from the a7iii to an a7RV and love it, but for some reason I recently got an a6700 and I’m not sure why!😆. Not sure I should really keep it, they’re actually quite similar but I like the option of doing 61mpx.
Thank you... I have to wrap all my Sonys with alphagvrd skins to give them personality! So, a couple thoughts: I'm envious of both your RV and 6700 as 61mp and video specs, screen, etc... are a dream! And then I personally, 8/10 times, choose an APSC camera as my quick pick up and shoot camera because of the size of the lenses, so I get it. However, what's most interesting is that the A7RV in crop mode is the a6700 (26mp). This is unconfirmed by Sony, but I believe that's how that sensor was developed... So it's possible that you already have your two cameras in one the one body, and if I were you, I might consider selling the a6700 to buy glass. Unless, you love the range finder style compact body, then you could sell both and get the A7CR. I know this is unsolicited advice and I completely get why you would keep both too and all that being said, if I were you, I might just do the same...and why not as I'm still envious of your gear! Feels like I'm always tinkering with my set up with hopes that I'll find peace with my camera combos... But I think that's just naivete on my end!
@@BrianCatalano - thanks for the reply, but yes! While it’s not a money issue, I don’t like to waste money on another camera. That’s the realization I came to; I already have a great hybrid 26mp in my a7RV! I thought the more compact size would come in handy, but once you add a baseplate and a good size lens it just doesn’t seem like it’s that much more compact. Now, I really don’t do video, but I do want to have that capability if I need it. I am still within my return window so there’d be no $$ penalty, but there may be times I want a backup.
Great video Brian 👏 for me the small ZVE1 is such a game changer 😅 especially for holidays 👍🏻 therefore my FX6 is too big 😂 best cinematic greetings from an older german TH-cam filmmaker
Thank you so much...and I completely agree! The fact that there are more features on the zve1 for a third the price and a fifth of the size, is crazy!! I still would love the fx6 as my rigged up fx3 is just as big and expensive, but here's hoping the FX6ii has ibis... If so I am definitely buying it on day one!
@@VoicedTV2 thank you so much... Every time I begin a video, I think I'm going to do an easy one... And then a month later, I'm still at it! Appreciate that! Let's both keep grinding as I feel like voice TV is really getting it's voice in full swing

@@mohamadrezanosratpoor5085 I personally don't like that lens (it's older and doesn't perform very well) and generally don't shoot in 50mm very often. Yet, I also know a lot of people who love it... There's going to have to be some trial and error to find a focal length that you like. I have Tamron's 20-40... And recommend their 28-75. For prime's I like 35s or 85s... Or might even prefer a 50 f1.4. There are also newer versions made by third party lens manufacturers like meike who make a 50 f1.8. might be worth exploring that option too. @@BrianCatalano Maybe I'll just get ahead of the curve and jump right in to sand sculpting. Thanks for the advice. To be relavant to the video. For me 12mp just sucks :( I'm really loving photography and I don't want to carry around two cameras. First world problems right?
@@noisackda2564 yeah but doesn't first world problems just mean cooler problems like first degree burns are better than third degree ones... or does it mean we are spoiled and overly privileged nerds who parse over pixels when all we should be doing is feverishly thanking the gods for giving us hot showers and flushing toilets!? Kidding sort of, but long story short, I say get the A7Cii then... You'll be able to take pictures of the sand art and the 33mps will allow you to zoom in on each grain of your masterpiece!
Woah, you went all in on the A7Cii then as well... There's something gratifying about downsizing gear, even though I still constantly think about different ways I would be using the zve1 now, but I did just pick up the pocket3 as a substitute b-cam for it.
I ended up selling my ZV-E1, as I mainly shoot photos vs video (my main is A7RV). I will be taking my A7Cii to SE Asia in a few months. I've gone many lens configurations as I need to pack light. I decided to go with the kit zoom and deciding on a small prime like Viltrox 20mm (& maybe another F2 prime). That being said, I think the A7Cii is a better choice is every way - from the EVF, 33 mp (that incl the latest AI AF), Ergonomics and even the silver version is far aesthetically pleasing! Also, I personally like crispy 7K downsampled video (you can always add a mist). The dual gain 33 mp sensor (in S-Log3) is no slouch either. * Also, for my trip, I'm actually planning on using the Pocket 3 for most video opportunities vs A7Cii. Lastly, I mention a few things. I just found a base plate/pinky grip on Amazon for the A7Cii that you can hide an AirTag in (genius). Also, you should check out Victor Laforteza YT. He recently made the move to the A7Cii (for all the same reasons).
I love that your journey to finding the perfect camera set up sounds as wild as mine! I actually now think you may have it (as far as camera bodies)... So you have the A7RV, the A7CII, and the Pocket 3!? You pretty much have the best of all worlds there... I also just picked up the pocket3 too, almost as a replacement for the zve1. I haven't used it yet in a professional setting (real estate) but I'm about to. I'm excited for how easy it is to use but obviously worried that it's not going to compare as well to the zve1 on a gimbal of course, but so far it's surprised me with how close it is! Now, the next hunt is the perfect travel lens... I'm so frustrated that with all these Sony lenses and third party manufacturers pumping out products that no one has thought to make a better compact zoom lens, like the kit. Honestly, a telescoping 24-50 f/3.5-5.6 wouldn't be that much bigger than the current kit, but I'd love to have something like that... That's why I always reach for my Nikon Zfc with the kit lens (pancake 24-75) for my quick travel camera. The whole thing is so cool and compact, and still way vibier than the silver A7C, so why can't we get more zoom lenses to pair with the A7C bodies! Ok rant over... Appreciate you always sharing your thoughts and getting me to think, and now you get me fired up to keep shopping for more gear that I don't need!! Sincerely though, thanks again! Also, keep in the loop with your trip and I just rewatched Victor's video...man his intro footage was so well done! Dude's really talented
@@BrianCatalano It would be awesome to see an updated kit lens, but I think it's not a priority. TBH, I think this lens is under rated as it does a lot for its size. That being said, I'm toying with going even more compact for travel - have you thought about the 6700 (or ZV-E10ii) & Sigma 10-18 2.8 + 18-50 2.8 (these zooms are less than 3"). Just a thought...
@@stkuj yes, you are right on, it's not a priority for anyone to build that type of lens for full frame... That's why I do like APSC for traveling. I have considered the a6700 as the sensor is amazing, but honestly after playing with my Nikon Zfc, I'm tired of boring cameras (design wise) but I want a flip screen, so I'm also looking at the Fuji xs20 as it's a great video camera as well! Might rent that first though... You consider APSC?
@@BrianCatalano Yes! Definitely for travel crop TBH might be a better way to go. Another thought, is to use something like the Sigma 18-50 and A7Cii in crop mode.
The shutter sync and performance under led lights is a downside of the zv-e1 due to the electronic shutter. I’ve never shot with a flash, and maybe you don’t need to if you have iso 12800. Shooting indoors you’ll get banding under led lighting above 1/30 shutter speed iirc.
@@jacobstr those are fair points and issues I didn't run into a lot, but I could imagine that being a deal breaker for a lot of people (especially those doing real estate work).
As always you make the best camera videos. Since everyone always talks about 4K but most vloggers (which these cameras are geared for) shoot in 1080P - which one shoot better 1080P and what are they oversampled from ?
Thank you so much!! That's interesting...and you're probably right. I usually only shoot in 4k but I probably don't need to most of the time! I'm not really sure how the downsampling is working from the 7k in the A7Cii to the 4.2k on the zve1...to get to there 1080p. Yet, both are fantastic in 1080p! Thanks again!!
@@thatchinaboi1 I could see that being a leading factor for someone. Was it for you? For me, it was a variety of specs that helped push me in one direction, but honestly I still wish I had both.
@@thatchinaboi1 yeah, nobody likes that! The zve1's rolling shutter performance is phenomenal, but thankfully the A7Cii’s isn't bad at all. Yet, I don't shoot sports or whip pan so it's nothing I've ever experienced either...
zve1 is way better for video. 4k60 no crop and 4k120 is genuinely important features that are crucial to make nice videos. but i do wish the zv had more than 12mp, its really too low
I totally agree with both those points... Here's hoping the next iteration of that camera gets something like a 24mp sensor but a similar dynamic range!
Contrary to popular belief, the ZV-E1/A7Siii/FX3/FX6 isn't actually cleaner if you use the second base ISO unless the shutter speed and aperture make that good lighting. Yeah, it's cleaner, IF you can use aperture or shutter priority mode or use an ND filter. It's a lot cleaner just using the camera at the ISO that makes your exposure correct.
@@astartup I definitely understand your point and generally agree with you. However, I will say that especially in slog3 at 12800 vs 10000, it is dramatically cleaner no matter how you've exposed the shot because of sonys proprietary noise reduction within the software... I have no idea how precisely they are doing it, but I'm sure if you record prores externally you could replicate the noise reduction in resolve. That all being said, you are right, it is a lot less noticable than in the example I gave in the video, in S-Cinetone at 2000 ISO...and it's always recommended to boost the light in your scene as opposed to just cranking the ISO.
Great video, thanks. ZV-E1 the goat. Just that dang screen sucks haha if it had an evf it be a no brainer. I could tell which camera I think! A7c 2 has a slight green cast I can never unsee. Zve1 just shows real life haha.
Thank you, and you are right; both about the green cast and the zve1 would be even 'goat-ier' if it had an EVF. Honestly, if that sensor was inside the A7Cii's body, so like an A7CS, I would probably still own it!
Thank you so much... I appreciate you taking the time to comment because I barely can listen to my own voice, and I have no real objective sense if it's annoying or not, so I'll take this. Sincerely, thanks again!!
I feel you! The fx3, did get a $200 discount recently, but it's still about double the price... I would love just a better grip or the zve1 or just throw it in the A7Cii's body. I'd pay more for that!
i submitted an offer of $1700 on greentoe for an a7cii and a zv-e1, and i lowkey had buyer's remorse after my zv-e1 was accepted because i thought i would really miss the higher MP photos, but i totally prefer the option of having 4k 120fps and better low light noise performance and dynamic active stabilization since i shoot a lot of video in low light and dont prioritize photos as much anymore i dont mind not having a viewfinder, i can take photos on my camera screen just fine most of the time, and the stabilization for longer focal length stills on the zv-e1 should be pretty crazy i did notice the auto mode looked better exposed on the a7cii than the zv-e1, so that's weird, but i dont use auto
I definitely understand that dilemma... after I sold my ZV-E1, I got a job that it would have been perfect for (as my b-cam to my FX3 that lives on a gimbal). Yet, now I'm using my A7Cii for that. I'm sure if the roles were reversed, I would have some remorse for that choice too. Long story short, either one is an incredible choice, but it sounds like the zve1 is actually perfect for your needs--and you got it at a great price, too!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooo ps. Great video though. I saw the whole thing on the buss ride home today. I hade a sneaky feeling about which one you would pick though. :)
@@TomScryleus ha ha!! I legit wasn't sure which one I wanted to keep for so long, and now that I've sold it, I just booked a job where I really wish I had it again. Almost immediate regret, but I really enjoy having less cameras. I do feel lighter
Finally, omg...You didn't disappoint! This was an incredibly GREAT comparison. I'm always thinking about the a7c2 versus the zv-e1 because I actually thinking of picking up one or the other this winter when I travel to the US. I think the ZV-E1 suits me more since I have the a74. I also loved my A7s3 so much, so the ZV is for me. I guess since you have the Fx3, maybe the ZV-E1 is a bit redundant for you, so your choice makes sense. If I didn't have the A74, your comparison definitely sold me on the A7c2! Super great video! Please give us more, more consistently. I always say how your production value is TOP TIER!

@@jas.cinema excellent point! I should have noted that!!
@BrianCatalano other than the the only significant difference Is video framerate
@@jas.cinema dynamic range and rolling shutter...and dynamic stabilization though are worthy points though too
@BrianCatalano I don't even shoot log, dynamic range and quality is basically the same a7iii and up, only difference for me when I upgraded was the framerate and colour, shooting slowmo with active stabilisation makes handheld usable
I completely see all your points there, and why it was so hard for me to choose, but the zve1's image/color science is just unmatched, so I get it!

Either camera would do, but if that's all you're doing, I'd probably get a Sony zve10ii and save a lot of money.
I have the same dilemma purchased both cameras now deciding which one to keep.
@@dennistruong6983 really!? Which way are you leaning?
First of all, great great video. Loved it. Especially the part where you made me not feel alone when watching reviews months later.

Yes, that's correct... I sold my zve1. Yet, I also have the FX3, but that's for client work.
Doesn't Zv-e1 have flexible ISO when shoots S Log 3?
@thatchinaboi1 yes it does, I did a video on it: th-cam.com/video/_oKWQTYZo4k/w-d-xo.html

Here's my comparison: th-cam.com/video/teF2Y7wkG54/w-d-xo.html
The zve1 won't overheat unless you are running it for a long time in high frame rates or in a hot environment for a long time.

@@BrianCatalano That be an epic camera, a7cs - gosh what if they put the a7s iii evf on that. WINNER!
hey bro nice video. i like your voice. its not annoying and attention grabbing like most youtubers
Thank you so much... I appreciate you taking the time to comment because I barely can listen to my own voice, and I have no real objective sense if it's annoying or not, so I'll take this. Sincerely, thanks again!!
Hey bro great video
@@BryanElliott_ I really appreciate that Bryan!! Any chance you might be dropping a new video any time soon!?
I would be willing to pay $500 more for a ZVE1 with a better build, a small internal fan and a full size HDMI. These are the only things I’m missing.
I feel you! The fx3, did get a $200 discount recently, but it's still about double the price... I would love just a better grip or the zve1 or just throw it in the A7Cii's body. I'd pay more for that!
Nice one...
Thank you so much!!
i submitted an offer of $1700 on greentoe for an a7cii and a zv-e1, and i lowkey had buyer's remorse after my zv-e1 was accepted because i thought i would really miss the higher MP photos, but i totally prefer the option of having 4k 120fps and better low light noise performance and dynamic active stabilization since i shoot a lot of video in low light and dont prioritize photos as much anymore
i dont mind not having a viewfinder, i can take photos on my camera screen just fine most of the time, and the stabilization for longer focal length stills on the zv-e1 should be pretty crazy
i did notice the auto mode looked better exposed on the a7cii than the zv-e1, so that's weird, but i dont use auto
ZV-E1❤
@@yurikos1144 I mean, I will always have love for the zve1... And who knows, I may pick it up again!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooo
ps.
Haley Fields
@@LindaBurke-y6k is a Haley Fields a place or a person!? Now I'm curious...
@@francoismarc3 ahhh, thank you so much! Funny enough, even with my FX3 or because of my FX3, I just booked a job where I now wish that I still had my zve1 as my gimbal b-cam. Yet, I literally just purchased the pocket 3, so I might use that as my gimbal b-cam which I think your videos have helped convince me too!
@@BrianCatalanoThe upcoming 40MP DJI Action 5 should be incredible - with stabilization similar to the ZV-E1 - plus it’s waterproof and more durable than the flimsy pocket 3.
@@BrianCatalano Pocket 3 for the win! This thing is great...You will love it! And good luck with your new gig!!!
@@francoismarc3 I'm really excited about the pocket 3... Hope it lives up to the hype--its coming today!
@@tennissir1986 hmmm... Maybe I'll get rid of my old GoPro anyways and consider this! I know a lot of people swear by their actions 4, so I'm looking forward to seeing the 5...
Zve1 is king
I can't argue with that... It was the most difficult camera for me to let go of!
80s and 90s 😳 bro you don’t look older than 35
@@interestings7866 ha ha... I'll take that, thank you! Actually, just turned 45, and I remember trying to make my first horror movie on a camcorder in 1986 or '87 while dressing my brother up as the wolfman. I wish I still had that tape...
@@BrianCatalano You look healthy man!
I appreciate that!
I have buyers remorse 😂😂😂
@@ProjectLabz ha ha... Always! I also get, "haven't bought yet" remorse too!
