Communion wine is weak (and sweet), but Priests are allowed to enjoy alcohol in moderation as a lifestyle thing - "in moderation" being key.

    • @wfcoaker1398

Depends on the sect. The more traditional churches have no problem with alcohol. The more radical protestants, especially fundamentalists, are teetotalers. They even go so far as to claim that references to wine in the Bible actually refer to unfermented grape juice. It's fascinating what things in the Bible Biblical literalists will decide aren't to be taken literally after all.

Off the top of my head, there's a couple of relevant Biblical provisions that are interpreted differently by different groups. There are general verses that say not to get drunk, and there is a specific provision from Paul in his list of qualifications for church leaders that they should not be men who were prone to drink. Some Christians interpret these as a ban on any drinking at all, where others interpret them as a ban on getting drunk. Presumably this Karen was of the former variety.

To be fair, I actually did this the other day. In my local supermarket where the staff wear green sweaters, I couldnt find something, and saw a lass in a green sweater with what looked like the store emblem on the front, in an aisle checking things on a shelf, so approached her and asked her, very politely, if she could tell me which aisle the item was on.
She said "i'm sorry, I dont work here". I was absolutely mortified, and apologised straight away. It was my own fault, as I explained to her, I saw the green sweater and didnt have my spectacles on to see the motif clearly. She was really sweet about it, and laughed when I asked her if I would end up here :)
I would NEVER be rude to store employees; they're there to do a job, often for crap wages, not put up with arrogant people's shit. And as my son works in a supermarket I would be angry Momma bear if somebody ever spoke to him in such a nasty way. Luckily, he opted for night shifts when the store is closed so he doesnt have to deal with bad mannered people.
I've managed retail stores in the past, and all my kids and I have worked in retail AND food service industries, so have many of these kinds of stories to share.
Sorry again to the girl in the green sweater. That'll teach me not to put on my glasses.

#1 When someone mistake you for an employee and treat you like crap but change entirely when they realize that you are not one, you KNOW that person is full of crap.
#3 Priests not allowed to drink ? Since WHEN !? That mass wine IS wine. It's normally cut with some water, but, often, it's just a few drops of water in a full glass of wine. Also, priests are allowed to dring whatever they please as long that they don't drink «excessively».
#5 Apparently, OP could wear some tie die T-shits with holes, frayed pants and mismatched sandals in a high fashion boutique and still get confused for someone working there. Some times, the steam just need to get released.

  • @kristiehoffrichter5874
    @kristiehoffrichter5874 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

Story 5: OP did nothing wrong. They were honest with the family more than once, however the family didn't listen and search for an employee. There is a fair difference between being kind and go out of their way to help someone in need from the heart, and taking advantage of. Family members kept going to point dragging a child into it and father confessed they were related. Know something isn't right. As for the mother, despite witnessing their own child getting harassed, stalked, physically touched on the shoulder and yelled at by a fully grown man and family, Tried to put the blame on OP. Thats a red flag towards toxicity. The mother should've listened to OP and got out of the store, or tried to intervened and told them to leave OP alone, and report to an employee or at the front desk instead of insisting to let the situation escalate. Sure the family would've received a warning not to stalk or assault other customers first rime bit if do it more than once, they could face getting banned from the store.
Later story with the rude lady: Having guys to acknowledge and apologise for your own mistakes takes a lot of courage and modest, but to try to blame others for your own mistakes is not okay.

Grandpa used to man the bar for every family function so he could get all the troublemakers drunk and in a taxi early on in the party. So at my brother's baptism party, the priest came in a little after the party started and Grandpa offered him a pop. To which the priest loudly replied with a laugh, "What? I totally agree with your point. The law seems to vary in direct proportion to one's economic status, and wealthy people can get away with offenses with little or no repercussions. However, I don't think that she, or any of her social set could be construed as "liberals". By her actions and behavior, she strikes me as being ultra conservative, judgmental and rigid in her beliefs.

Good afternoon DF. Thanks for the stories. Why do these people think someone would lie about working? I'll never understand that. Have a great day

Last story - OP should have told her mom the same thing she told the rude wheelchair lady. Or maybe - "well, gee, mom. Why didn't you help them?"

That's the secret to not having to help customers even when you DO work there - just look lost and confused!

Good for Op on standing up for themselves in the last one. Their logic is ridiculous! As far as im concerned employees have some sort of badge or design on their shirt, or some accessories. Maybe op should get that shirt printed with "Just because im wearing black does not mean i work here!" Maybe then they'll get the hint.

I would get a t shirt that said "I don't work here! Now leave me alone."

On the rare occasions when I need help in a store and the person I see is wearing something similar to the Store Uniform but I'm not sure if they actually work there or is just a Customer that likes that colour of clothing, I will approach them and POLITELY ask if they work there and if they say no, I Apologize for disturbing them, tell them to have a good day and then LEAVE THEM ALONE!!!
I DON'T argue with them and claim they're Lying and are Lazy Employees, I believe them when they say they don't work there and I go look for an actual Employee who is paid to help me find whatever I'm seeking...

A Wilson - absolutely !!! I do the same thing - just ask a simple, polite question. I have helped a few people in grocery stores though - and sometimes people have asked me if I could use so,e help, reaching things as I’m about 5ft. and in my middle 70s - I appreciate it when I could use some help and always say thank you!!!!!

Priests regularly drink. At work. Why wouldn't they be allowed to drink during their off time?

If I had someone tell me I shouldn’t wear a black shirt because I look like I should work somewhere I wouldn’t at all be surprised if I brought race into this and asked “So if someone’s skin was dark would you presume they should do your bidding just because their natural skin was that? Maybe think about what you said about a singular color present on a generic and common piece of clothing.”
    And I would walk away.
Also I’m so glad to know I wasn’t the only one who would have wanted to punch the guy who grabbed and yelled at the last lady 😔
