Second this. For some reason this wasn’t setting in my heard but this video is amazing (even better than ninja nerds).
I had a stent placed in the RCA which was blocked 95% about 16 years ago. It was a fascinating procedure and I saw the blocked artery on the fluorscope screen before they pointed it out. The surgeon showed me all the equipment, guide wire etc. saying "you can touch them, it's your blood!" . I also got a before-and-after polaroid print which I use as a wallpaper on my computer to remind me not to let my cholesterol and blood pressure go as high as they did before the event. This is technology!

Explaining the reason for the nomenclature of each vessel makes it stick in your head for a long time.
Good explanation apart from a few misleading information: There is a clear difference between Heart attack (MI) and Cardiac Arrest. Myocardial Infarct (Heart Attack)is Death of cardiac muscle
caused by prolonged severe ischemia where Cardiac arrest is when the heart malfunctions and suddenly stops beating unexpectedly. People often use these terms interchangeably, but they are not synonyms. A heart attack is a “circulation” problem and sudden cardiac arrest is an “electrical” problem.

A cardia arrest can be expected. Its just when the heart stops beating/generating significant output. For any reason.
Cardiac arrest isn’t always an electrical problem, an example would be PEA (pulseless electrical activity)

I had to refresh my heart anatomy quickly as i was entering clinicals and this is exactly what was looking for. I only had to look at it once and a light bulb went on in my head and most importantly this type of explanation and animation makes this stick in long term memory. My father suffered from LAD blockage recently and did the PCI. This kind of medical knowledge is so critical to understand how our body functions and how certain symptoms could link back to the root cause. In this case gradually increasing fatigue caused by ischemic myocardium. Had I known this better I could have advised him to go to the hospital earlier for a diagnosis. Maybe this is what generative AI can really help.

I'm ashamed to say I had no idea these were the arteries and veins that they're talking about when you hear about someone having bypass surgery. I've always thought they were talking about the aorta or inferior/superior vena cava. Watched a bypass surgery video and it was completely different from what I thought. Great video-very well described. Thanks!

Cardiac arrest is a complete arrest of the electrical function in the heart where it can't pump blood effeciently and in which causes instant death. Myocardial infarction is a blockage of one of the coronary arteries which then blocks oxygen to the heart and cause ischemia or muscle death. MIs can lead to cardiac arrest but two different things.
Cardiac arrest actually refers to the cessation of the mechanical function of the heart and it can occur with preservation of some electrical activity. MI refers to the death of muscle due to the obstruction you described. Ischemia is not muscle death though muscle may be viable and still asystolic.

Really nice video. I did want to mention that you said that the AV node was nervous tissue. There's no nervous tissue in the heart, just modified cardiomyocytes.

I'm not sure you're correct. There are autonomic nerves (sympathetic and parasympathetic) in the heart. At least 2 of the nuclei of CN X innervate the heart (? all 3). Afferent pain fibers? Myocardial ischemia and other phenomena cause pain.

I am a commercial pilot who in a routine physical showed an abnormal ECG with RBBB and LAHB. This prompted a SPECT stress test which came up abnormal, so now on to an angiogram. This helped educate me prior to the procedure so when the doctor is trying to explain something I can feel prepared. As a meditator, I also believe I have an ability to participate in my own healing, and this helps me as a patient. Thank you. Mike
