FAQ:
1. Are these figures adjusted to inflation.
NO
2. Every single movie she ever made is included?
Not exactly. Only theatrical movies are presented here. So TV movies, Direct to Video releases, TV Series, Mini Series and Shorts are NOT included! Movies where she had a very minor role or a cameo might not be discussed in this video. Little-known movies and smaller projects may also be excluded in order to keep the video entertaining.
3. How can an actor/director earn MORE than the budget of the movie?
This phenomenon is called a 'backend deal,' which means the actor receives a portion of the film’s long-term earnings in addition to their upfront salary. These earnings can come from box office revenue, streaming, DVD, and Blu-ray sales, among other sources. Such deals can significantly boost the actor's total earnings, sometimes exceeding the film's entire budget.

I don't care about flops and bombs, I think she is stunning!
That's the point of the video. Their Hits and bombs
These are really fun! Want to request Steven Spielberg because it would be interesting to see what directors make a movie vs actors. Especially a superstar director like him. Thanks!
That's a great idea, @MrRawwd! I'm planning to cover some directors too, and Spielberg will definitely be among the first. Right now, I'm researching the actor-director hybrid Mel Gibson, and I can tell you in advance, his earnings for The Passion of the Christ are simply staggering. So stay tuned-more fun is coming your way! 😉
When the video was starting, I was saying, Oh No, she is a good actress, why is she not getting paid, and as the years go by,
she is making real money. Good for her, a very talented actress.
You know I often wondered what cost so much for the MCU movies. Aah... the cast. Of course.
The first and the first in a long time was Home Alone 3 and Iron Man 2. Huge difference 👀
The island was not a flop. It was a great movie and made 36 million dollars according to your video
Agreed, @devilray09cub! It's a great movie. However, keep in mind that box office earnings are split between the studio and the cinemas, so a movie has to earn at least 2x its budget just to break even.
Black dahlia was a good film, she certainly made a lot from the captain America films, but I think these superhero films make money without a big name
This was great. Very informative.
Glad you’re enjoying the show, @lloydg8324! More fun is on the way, so stay tuned! 😉
Damn,Transformers was really good. Shouldn't have been a flop!
45 million for avengers wtf
Please do Sandra Bullock next
Added to the list, @tlhaleffoharris9279! Thanks for tuning in!
One Fine Sensational Woman and Actress I would much Adore being her Husband would not Hate either if she would not mind sharing the it with me! If anything lot Women Bread Winners not hating on Ms Johansen's Salary she Deserves it! She is one Hell of Actress!❤️❤️❤️❤️😎💰👌🏽😘
i like film lucy
The Island was good!
I said the same! It’s really good
Agreed, @jefff8130 and @eklektikTechno! Actually, it was the first movie I saw with her. Hard to forget 😀
Sandra Bullock
Marriage story didn't bomb. It was a netflix movie, if I remember right. They only released it in theaters so they could be up for those movie award nomination
You’re right, @M.Evra91! Thank you for bringing this up. A lot of the bombs in my videos are actually due to limited theatrical releases, which isn’t fair. I’ll work on finding a way to address this in my future videos.
Well, yes, when Scarlett Johansson looks in the mirror, money pours out of the mirror, hundred-dollar bills, and sometimes 1 kg gold bars. 😉😉😉
She honestly wasn't needed for any of the avengers movies or captain America ones. She wasn't gonna make or break those films and no one was going to sherthose movies for her.
Hence why Black Widow didn't make money. It wasn't her ppl wanted. They wanted Chris, RDJ, Chris, and Chadwick. The rest were just fluffers.
The Island was actually good how was that a flop?? But hey Blade Runner wasn’t a hit and iconic until 15- 20 yrs later
Hi Scarlett,
Can you give me just a Little bit of money for Christmas … soo 1 M ?
See you 👋
What's with the bland ratings. I haven't seen these in your other videos, and a 35M Budget w/80M Box Office earnings should at least be considered a semi-hit.
Sorry about those, @parasockz9458! My labeling system was still a work in progress when I made this video. Check out some of my more recent work-I think I’ve leveled up since then.
Divide by ten .tax takes 50%. agents get 20%
I don't like her political agenda but she's a helluva an actress. Loved her in Lucy.
CHRISTIAN BALE
On the list, @faiuzahmed1690! Stay tuned. 😉
I cannot believe you put comments such as bland and lacklustre as descriptions for successful films. This seems a little harsh. U also use bomb too. For other movie stars you would only say flop for an unsuccessful movie….
Thank you for sharing your opinion, @37christ37! When considering the budget and box office, please keep in mind that box office earnings are split between cinemas and the studio. A movie has to make at least double its budget just to break even-hence the harsh labeling. That said, I agree with you: these labels may not be my best choice, and I might abandon them in future videos. I’m still refining my labeling strategy, so your feedback is really helpful. 😉
Charlize Theron
43 M???!!!
No wonder
For black widow???
I don't understand how she got 43M for "Black Widow" after it didn't go so well in the box office
They don't get paid AFTER. The contract is agreed upon long before filming even begins.
That's why some actors' fees can actually bankrupt a film even if it makes a profit, and vice versa.
There are PLENTY of interviews with actors who thought a movie would bomb and therefore did it for a nominal check only to see the movie go straight through the roof in ticket sales.
Check out Donald Sutherland talking about "Animal House" sometime.
Sometimes it's a big gamble.
They didn’t release the movie in theaters exclusively. This was during the time Disney released the movie on streaming at the same time. Her contract was based on box office and an exclusive run. She ended up suing.
@MrRawwd I forgot about that! Kudos.
Excellent insight, @MrRawwd! She’s a tough one-even Disney couldn’t beat her in court. 😉
Its for the woke feminist BS, you know what I mean? She can do what a man can do in movies so she needs to be paid the same. She uglier than all hell too, that why they gotta put 32lbs. A makeup on her before cameras roll
She needs a better agent
Your recent one suck! 17.3 M budget, 40.1 M take equals bland?
I get your point, @Gareat. My labeling strategy is still a work in progress, so bear with me. By the way, as mentioned earlier, box office earnings are split between cinemas and the studio, which means movies need to make over 2x their budget just to break even. I'm still figuring out how to present this fact in the best way possible.
Did I miss ‘Lucy?’
Yes you did, @TravisMcGee151. It's at 3:43 😉
THAT was a tough role. Its actually kind of a "message" movie. Its playing on one of the free streaming channels now but I've forgotten which one. She kills an awful lotta people in it though not exactly a children's book.
I’d like to see Will Smith’s next
I'm on it, @DameteEntertainment! But it'll take a bit, so stay tuned. 😉
@@BoxOfficeJoe Don't do Will Smith. He doesn't deserve the time.
explain why someone with so many flops kept getting another chance?
Great question, @JeniCalab! Many movies flop at the box office but go on to generate significant revenue later through Blu-ray sales and streaming. Studios focus on the bigger picture and think long term, with general reception and popularity playing a huge role.
She's a great actress.. Just poor writing...
Obviously she can't carry a movie on her own.
How is a movie that made a $36 million profit at the box office a flop?
Not sure what movie this is you’re talking about but I know one has to take in account of the budget as well as advertising which certain movies can cost 100 million or more just in advertising alone. Also any back end deals to pay actors before they make profit from box office.
Great insight again, @MrRawwd! Also, box office earnings are split between cinemas and studios, so a movie needs to make at least double its budget just to break even. Hope this helps clarify, @claudgurr431!
Please do more people of color
Noted, @angellove690! Thank you.
Marvel has money to burn.
not really a bankable star i would say
