- In this video I show in depth the install of the Zuks Off Road My-Turbo!
This install uses some fairly simple tools and a little knowledge, i think pretty much anyone with a little mechanical ability could install with a little guidance from Myron at Zuks off road. The Turbo is a definite power increase from the meager naturally aspirated 1.3L

I love it, I have a vitara from 91 and I am in the same plans to install turbo. But I changed engine and I put g16t of 16 valves full injection

Turbo is long gone, i took it out and sold that POS and did a 1.6 16v swap...way better now!

Also I got a turbo heatshield off Summit Racing and that seems to really help with the heat coming off the turbo but that may be a more pricey solution.
Yeah i was thinking about fabbing up a light metal heat shield, i might still do that.

Not as much as just doing a 1.6 16v swap. The 16v is the way to go!

Very neat work. I was going to ask what u did for more fuel but i see at the end of the video u jetted the carb. ... Ive never done a turbo but ive been studyin here n there for years of how its set up. .... I want to turbo charge my short 94 Plymouth Voyager van's 3.0 Mitsubishi engine. ...... Want to put the turbo down near, below the front passenger's left foot, or where catalytic converters usually sit. ... Sort of a mid placed turbo, compared to normal or tailpipe turbos. ..... ......... My theoretical obstacle is the return for the turbos oil line. ... I know it would be hard to remove my oil pan without pullin the engine, or at least some ...........
What do u think about an L shaped fitting from the pans drain plug.. that i remove when i need to change the oil? .... .. Let me know if u can.. or anyone else here knowledgeable. .. Big Thanks

Hey man love your channel. Live in the US have a build I'm finishing this weekend. Running Myron turbo set up on my efi 8v, I fabed my own boost referenced propane injection I plan to make a video when done. Thx for to great footage.

Considering taking this on myself soon. I would love for my Zuk to be a little more powerful. My engine is totally stock and only has 84,000 miles on it. Runs amazing. I thought about the 1.6 swap, but my motor is just too good. I just can't see myself ditching something which has proven to be so reliable but she does struggle a little to turn my 31s. Anything faster than 50mph is an absolute struggle. I do not plan on getting bigger tires so a little boost would go a long way for me. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I actuall just ditched the turbo and did a 1.6 16v swap, check out my videos for why.

Excellent video, man! I am passing the same process with my samurai. But I going to change intake manifold to hand-made and fuel injector. I did exhaust manifold but made a measure mistake with intake flange 3D model.
Do you have planes to go to fuel injecting turbo G13A?
Thanks for watching, i have no plans for fuel injection. I like to try to keep things simple and reliable. Stuff i can fix in the field, electronics are not my strong suit..lol

Great install video, thanks for posting! what has your experience been now that you have been driving it for a while? reliable? Does the turbo come on boost early enough in the RPM range to be usable offroad? Cheers, Mark
Oh yeah, it definitely does in low range for crawling, i havent really used it in mud and high range but i bet it would be awesome. I have used it in deep snow and as long as you dont lug it down below 2000 rpm it works great!

Any of the internals built up?
Engine is stock other than the turbo. It made quite a difference. At some time ill repower with a bigger engine. There is no replacement for displacement they say!

Hi! What kind of carburetor?
I need ur help please. I am in Colombia currently and I normally drive my samurai around the coast which is hot and humidity is high, I put in and ac, every time I switch on the ac the temperature rises a lot to the point I have to turn it off until cold down to normal level. Any suggestions please..
Not sure what you could do other than put a colder thermostat in it and check and see if you fan is working when you switch on the ac.
Sorry mor two questions... No need intercooler? The Kit comes with full instructions/manual to make the adaptation?
The kit doesnt come with instructions, you can find them online, but they dont go into much detail. That was the reason for me doing this video.

What fuel pressure is the fuel regulator at when in the on positoon key . I installed kit just has hard time turning on , once hot it works fine , hesitates when you step I n the gas too fast .
Around 2psi if i remember right, i no longer have the turbo in my zuk, i replaced it with a 1.6L 16V engine for more reliability and power!

What engine was the install on? 1.0l or 1.3l? Thanks... I have a "Grandpa find" Stock 1987 Suzuki SJ 410 1.0l... Want to get more power but maintaining the stock 4x4 Transfer/Trans... Not looking to fly in it, just a bit more power. Any ideas welcomed!!! Thnx
It is on the 1.3l. You would have to contact myron from zuks off road to see if his turbo kit would work with the 1.0l.

Hey man what type and size shocks do you have on your samurai ?
Those shocks came with the trail tough epic trek spoa lift, its their rebuildable shocks.
could any one tell me why my samurai is bulding pressure up in radiator changed head gasket an still doing it
Radiator cud have flow problems. Especially if its rebuilt or has a pinch in the veins
Also check your thermostat, see that there no big rust build up and check your water pump and hoses
its got a new radiator but ill look at thermostat it was new to but ive got bad one befor thanks

Not sure we need intercooling yet. Methanol injection though might be in the works!
What size did you drill the tube out on the carb?
I dont remember any more, but i started small and kept drilling slightly bigger till i got the right reading on my afr guage.

where to get turbo kit and which type?
Look up "zuks off road" out of arizona, he calls it the "my-turbo" kit
Which carburetor and turbo model are you using?
It was a kit from Zuks offroad in Arizona, i have since that video sold that whole set up and swapped in a 1.6l 16v engine which is way better than that turbo 1.3 ever could be.
so how brave are you when it comes to ignition timing? there is a company called CB performance that sells what they call the 'black box'. its an ignition timing controller with a 3 bar map sensor. works wonders with boost. better idle and off boost fuel mileage, and still have the timing retarded enough that it doesnt detonate. plus, if it dies while in a remote location, you can bypass the black box and limp home on the locked distributor. i plan on using one on both my sandrail and my samurai. also consider a knock gauge on it. sometimes its knocking light enough you can't hear it, but its hammering bearings none the less.
Hmmm, good points, ill look into this. Driving the samurai is not quiet, so im probably not hearing all but the loudest pinging! Im contemplating methanol injection!

Can i use the original carb or its not going to work
Nope gotta use a side draft carb or fuel injection, just put a bigger engine in and dont bother with the turbo. Watch my newer videos about engine swaps.

Its a ko3 turbo, i dont know what it came on originally. They give you a down pipe off the turbo, but after that you have to fab it to fit your exhaust.

Tires are a chinese MT Comforser cf3000 33x12.5x15, wheels are 15x10 procomp 1069 series

It is fuel injected now, i have a 1.6 16v engine now. Way better than the turbo 1.3

Thats an old video already, i sold the turbo 1.3 and put in a 1.6 16v instead. Way better!

what turbo is it? how much pressure does it load?
I cant remember what turbo it was, but it was set at 5 psi.
I no longer run the 1.3 turbo, i have a 1.6 16v, way, WAY better in my opinion.

Oh yeah, definitely, but theengine cant handle any higher boost. Personally, i say the motor wasnt built for boost in the first place and wont last long with it.

Thanks for the explicit video. I have a Samurai 1,3 L (SJ413 from 1998). I have some questions if it is possible. 1- It is possible to adapt a turbo Kit in this motor with the original carburator? 2- How much is the cost for a complete turbo Kit? Can I bought this Kit in Europe? Because I am in Portugal. Thanks and congratulations for the video.
I would say its best if you contact Myron at zuks off road, and ask him those questions. He is the one that builds these turbo kits.

Is it possible yes do you want too no. The cv carb is great for blow through turbo application your stock carb would not take too boost well

Looks like a pretty serious heat issue
I never really had a problem with internal engine heat, but the turbo it self put off alot of heat. That why i put heat tape on everything near it even the under side of the hood!

I’m leaning and enjoying your content but …Your music bed is WAY too load. Audio is all over the place. Voice is low, so I turn up the volume. Music bed come in like a wrecking ball. Volume turn back down.

Horrible idea on doing RTV on both sides of a rubber gasket, just on pan is the way to go. And the other BAD idea is trying to Turbo any carb this way never gonna be right, just go find an ECM and wiring with throttlebody bla bla bla and adapt it to your motor!
Ive never had trouble putting a thin layer of rtv on both sides of a "cork" gasket. Yes you would possibly have trouble with a rubber gasket.
I didnt engineer this turbo kit, zuks off road did, i expect they know what they are doing as it works fine. Lots of things were turboed before efi came along. I dont see why this wouldnt work also.

I cant remember exactly, but something around $2000 to $2500 usd
