    I've had actual steering wheel material just peel away with mild cleaning. Dry rotting wheel with interior neglect. Some clients let their rusting banged up never detailed 1983 2 door black convertible sit in the driveway and call you in 2020 and tell you all the great stories about how special their little rotting hunk of metal is still so incredible! Great video!

    Great tips! I’ve had some close calls with an APC and steam on some steering wheels where the coating began to run off. I’ve also seen some vehicles come in that look like they’ve had that issue happen before from another detailer. I like the idea of the leather cleaner for it!

    I love Megs leather cleaner and CGs is very similar and equally good. I have a tip for you Phil, pick up a Rag Company or Adams "Scrub Mitt" It's a great gentle but powerful microfiber based mitt that is almost like it's been overheated so the fibers are stiffer than usual. Try it on seats and steering wheel and prepare to be blown away when pared with Megs or CG.

    Good video. I used CG inner clean to clean really nasty steering wheels. I had a Toyota FJ recently caked with skin, dirt, sweat you name it. No make-up, just nasty thick! It took me an hour and I was kicking myself for not having a steam machine to loosen the gunk! I was telling myself never again would I detail a car that dirty again. Well, until my next one (which was the guys wife)! I'm going to have to try the Meguiar's Leather cleaner.

    Hi Mr. Miranda...BLESSINGS. Question... I began to clean my steering wheel on my 2001 E430. Its light brown with a combo in the interior of a champagne color, desert beige or something similar. THE COLOR BEGAN TO COME OFF lol... Not my steering wheel is 2 toned. I guess I have to repaint it now, but what went wrong??? Too strong the Maguires Degreaser? DIY Bubu? lol
    Please advise so that I dont screwup again. Thanks as always. Leo Magana

      Hi. Yeah like I mentioned in the video attacking it with steam and/or stronger APC cleaners could end up damaging it. I would use a dedicated leather cleaner like the Meguiars or even chemical guys leather cleaner. They gentle cleaners but still very effective.

    Hey Phil, do you have any experience using Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer Cleaner or Meguiar's Gold Class Leather & Vinyl Cleaner? Will either of these products clean a steering wheel as well as the Meguiar's Leather Cleaner used in this video?

    Hi i desperately need some help. I got a new car about 2 months ago and everything was great but not knowing much about detailing I accidentally conditioned my steering wheel. And it’s been super slick and greasy looking. Its really bothering me. I tried using leather cleaners to remove it but no luck. Any advice to help me? I’d appreciate it a lot.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Oh no! You may need to use a stronger APC like super clean diluted 1:4 and use a damp towel to rinse the steering wheel after you use the cleaner.

      Buy a Rag company or Adams scrub mitt. Spray cleaner on the mitt, wrap your hand around the wheel and scrub back and forth. Amazing, quick results. I've used everything under the sun for decades and it's the most effective and time saving combo I've ever discovered.

      BigOldDog thanks looks like the Adams mitt is the way to go,

    • @kikcodog
      @kikcodog 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MirandaDetailing Yes. Grab one (they aren't too expensive and Adams sells a private label version of TRCs) they aren't expensive. They are gentle but effective.. Ever try the yellow microfiber leather scrub brushes that are wedged shaped? These are similar but the fibers are much longer and about as stiff. They may look like a regular microfiber but they aren't. The fibers are slightly stiff, like thay have been heat treated. You can do an entire bench leather seat for example in a fraction of the time you can do it any other way and they clean completely. It does 2X the work in half the time. Here: 6 X 9 MICROFIBER INTERIOR SCRUB MITT www.theragcompany.com/6-x-9-microfiber-interior-scrub-mitt/

    Do you think using an APC (e.g. diluted 1:10) would have yielded the same results? Or do you think it's too harsh?

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. Yeah that would work also. We just live the leather cleaner becasue it doesn’t dry out the leather and plastics. But an APC at 1:10 also works.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ahhh. That means it's beyond cleaning and needs to be restored/repaired. We have seem steering wheels like that and we have to just gently clean then and tell the customer that it's damaged beyond cleaning.

    Are you sure that was a REAL leather steering wheel?? i thought that Subaru never used REAL leather on their steering wheels therefore making it much easier to clean... I could be wrong BUT....

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hi. I use the term leather in a general sense. There is no real leather in modern vehicles today unless it’s something custom or extremely rare or exotic.
      Leather cleaners are also labeled such in a general way. It just means they are formulated so as not to be to harsh on plastics and if in rare cases real leather.
