    My mom went through it. It was very difficult for 6 months with many defficiency like calcium, potassium and magnesium. She stayed in only in hospital for 1 month, however after 7 months everything is going good, we filmed many videos in the process to keep her entertained and create memories but now she goes to work and feels very normal. Don't worry, it will be fine for you.

      How is your mother now.. Does your mother need to take calcium tablets now?
      Calcium is very low after my thyroid surgery...not sure if it will ever go back to normal

    • @ArikCool
      @ArikCool 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@subhankarroy9466 Don't doubt yourself, your levels will be back to normal.
      It took her 5 months to get stable calcium levels with help of calcium and other supplements, after that, all of her doses were slowly reduced because body eventually adapts and starts to get back to normal level.
      Currently she takes Calcium tablets a bit higher dose for normal people but its slowly increasing and will get back to normal.
      Just Believe in yourself and maintain a balanced diet, stay well.

    I gained 6 lbs after my Thyroid Surgery and Doc asked me to take my hormones pills lifetime. Why? Thank You Lord my voice back to normal after 2 hrs of my surgery. It was so painful.

      The pills replace the hormones the thyroid glands were giving your body. I have surgery in a month, and I’m ready for those pills 😂 not sure if I’m ready to gain weight tho!

      @@jennycapetillo3948 I took my hormones for almost 6 months and I gained weight. Im scared of it. And i have my lab test every 3 months. They said it was the best thryroid doctor in Japan. But i thought i die after the anesthesia. cant hardly breath. But i can speak well right after the surgery. And able to eat right away. I just had surgery Aug 4th 2020. I don't do good with pain so nothing was minor about it. It felt like I was in a gang fight and the rivals cut my throat. Thank goodness for the anesthetics. 2 Days later my neck is still swollen sore my throat is scratchy and I'm having pain in my ears and the most horrible thing is when I have the cough. The first day was hard to swallow anything and a lot of pain. I'm eating pretty good long as it's in small bites It does get better everyday. I was able to manage my pain just using Tylenol and ibuprofen

    My thyroid was slightly enlarged which made the procedure take much longer. Being straight forward here when I woke up after it was so unpleasant. Like strep throat x3 and I couldn’t speak. Was on a calcium drip for 10 days in the hospital. I’m out now and I’m just figuring out the right doses of TSH replacement meds. I also can only speak at a whisper and it’s been 2.5 weeks. The procedure overall sucked but I’m on the road to recovery now. Hopefully my voice comes back after another month.

    Can you please make a video on how to control or how to balance not to lose calcium. Or how to maintain calcium after total thyroidectomy

    • @jcyensen1236
      @jcyensen1236 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hasn't the surgeon told you that you have to take calcium daily cause the thyroid med causes loss of calcium and only take it 4 hrs after or later of your thyroid pill and also be sure not to eat 1 hour before or after taking your thyroid medication. Some regular practitioners do not even mention these things. I no longer see any family practice doctor about my thyroid and only find a good specialist. I also had a internal medicine doctor who would confer with a thyroid specialist on how to treat me. I was so grateful to finally have a doctor to listen to me and believe me where they would say not to blame everything on your thyroid and send me on my way even with my TSH numbers where they were not supposed to be.

    I had mine removed in two operations as the first side was found to have thyroid cancer. After the first operation I was shocked at the sight of the staples (was like twenty years ago) and the bruising around my neck. My voice box had shut on that side and I could hardly talk. My neck could hardly turn. My blood at that time was quick at healing and when they pulled the drain out it winded me. The second op I woke up with a vicar looking at me! I said has it all gone wrong and he was like no I am just visiting. Anyway that second op knocked my vocal cords back into shape somehow and I could talk better each day that went by. REally good as I had been worned if my other vocal cord froze I would of needed a hole in my throat to breath. I had to have radio active iodine afterwards. I put on load of weight. I now think it might of been water retention. When they pulled out the drain on the second op the nurse cut the stitch and then said - omg Ive cut the wrong stitch - sit still!! Then she was like oh I havent its all ok!!! Well thanks. I now have a yearly check up ... a blood tumor marker test. Big neck scar ie 22 stitches. Voice isnt as before

      ok so update, my mom ended up going for the surgery and the doctor had to cancel because of a family emergency, something felt a bit off so she decided to get a second opinion on her needs from a more experienced doctor at a different hospital, a whole series of tests later turns out my mom doesn’t even have thyroid cancer...she would’ve gotten the surgery for absolutely nothing. please please, get multiple opinions, the hospital is still reaching out to us as of now to try and reschedule her for the surgery.

      Don't be scared ...I am done with my total thyroidectomy 11 days ago. I am now taking calcium tablets (9 tablets per day due to my heavy weight-78kls). I don't feel any pain during operation except to low voice after operation and quite uncomfortable with the movements of my neck because the cut starts from my left ear to front area of my neck (L shape). Another thing, I am now experiencing skin itchiness because of too many vitamins and less sweating I think. Have courage to do your operation. Nothing to worry
