    Your story sounds exactly like mine. I am going tomorrow morning at 9 o’clock May 22, 2023 to have the same surgery you had the left lobe of the thyroid. Mine has to come out for the same reason that yours did. Mine were benign, but I have about five nodules, one of which back in 2020 measured 3 cm but it was not bothersome now it is 4 1/2 cm and it feels as if something is always choking me and pressing against my esophagus. I hope you are doing well. Please pray for me. Be blessed.

    I had my left thyroid removed, but I was only in the hospital for 1 hour after the surgery. I have a newer solid nodule on my right thyroid: left one was 8 cm in size, I also still have constant bone pain still, elevated calcium in my blood at 15, I have a new mass not nodule in my left lung. They will finally test me for mutated gene called RET, my father and brother both died at the same age of 64 of thyroid cancer, I will be 61 soon. I'm still hopeful for my cure, and look forward to be freed of this pain. My pain level was nothing after removing my left thyroid, and half of the ithumesis, my scar recovery was very good, and have barely seen scar after 1 1/2 years out, I do have to take still: Synthroid (Levothyroxine), vitamin D prescribed, magnesium ect. My prayers for you, please pray for me too.🙏🙏🙏

    So glad I just found this video even though it’s from a few years ago. I’m having this surgery in a few weeks (though my tumor is malignant.) It’s ectopic and being fed by the thyroid so the thyroid has to go. They hope to only take the left side if the right side is normal. It seems the left side is very common. I appreciate all your information and taking the time to share. Hope you are still healthy and thriving and please know that this video is still helping people. 💕

    Glad you are doing well🐴I had a 2cm spot on my thyroid in 2014,so my thyroid was removed.I was just as amazed as you sounded when I was told that they took one of my parathyroids out that wasn't acting as it should...chopped it up & replaced & it was doing its thing again! Our bodies are a complex thing& thank god for surgeons.🐴Take care& god bless,
    Barb

    I am going through very-similar situation (the right side of my thyroid). Doctor is strongly suggesting that I speak to surgeon as the thyroid keeps getting bigger. I have had several biopsies and genetic testing. I am prayerfully leaning toward having the surgery. So appreciate this post. Thank you.

    Thank you for sharing. You are a blessing. I am to have a partial thyroidectomy on November 17 and appreciate all prayers. I am trusting God for a benign report and an easy recovery. I am 66 and have too much to do to be down long.

    Just had mine ,it was not as bad as I feared .i heard ppl saying wake up ,it’s done ! ,but I kept eyes shut ,when I did open them I spoke straight away and said hello! And even thanked them all ,before going to ward .Which was a good sign .Surgury lasted 1 hr 40 mins as I made a point to look at the clock before and after it.Lips were parched and was offered water and I did sip it easily ,I remember thinking I have to try drink while I’m still in no pain straight after surgery as I thought l I might be afraid later . Rest is just recovery , I managed to eat and drink that evening too .Take a travel pillow with you and use it quickly to avoid neck stiffness and strain after .

    It's hard to find current video's on partial, or full thyroidectomy. I was diagnosed with hyperthyrodism with multinodular toxic adenoma. Which means I'm hyperthyroid on my right lobe of the thyroid due to 2 hot nodules, and I have 2 nodules on left lobe which look concerning, and have been biopsied for cancer with a fine needle aspiration. Both of these nodules came back negative for cancer. One of the left nodules is pressing on my esophogus. I've been dealing with doctors for 14 years. It took that long to find doctors who would listen to my symptoms, test me, and finally figure out whats finally going on with me. December 1, 2022, I go in to have a complete thyroidectomy, and get put on medication for life for hypothyroidism. Because when your thyroid is removed your body no longer has the hormones needed. I have a question, did your doctor test your vocal cords before, and after surgery? I understand they use a device on your chest closer toward your neck where pins are place to in the chest to check the cords I was wondering if this was uncomfortable.
    Thank your for putting out this video, it's informative. How are you feeling now after time has passed?

    Thanks so much for posting this, girl! Very informative. I'm actually getting surgery soon, too. I am wondering if you could explain more about what it was like to get put to sleep? This is the part that freaks me out!! Like, what does it feel like? How do they do it? What does it feel like when they put the stuff in, like do you get sleepy or is more like wide awake to instantly out? Could you have stayed awake if you would have tried or is it impossible? Haha. Basically whatever you remember about that part would be helpful. Thanks so much!

    • @TwoIslandsGirl
      @TwoIslandsGirl  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! So sorry for the late reply, I'm just seeing this message. You probably already had surgery by now and if so, I hope it went well. Its an interesting experience; definitely awake to instantly out. One minute you're awake and aware of what's happening around you and the next minute you're waking up after hours have passed; but it feels like no time has passed at all. It isn't really going to sleep though, you're in a medically induced coma so you're unconscious and unresponsive. This is my 3rd time. The OR staff was very comforting and the anesthesiologist put a warm blanket on me and hugged me as I went under. She said "You're getting ready to go to sleep now. Think about the wonderful dream you're going to have." That was the last thing I remember. I woke up hearing the nurse say "You're in recovery, your surgery went well." You definitely can't stay awake even if you try lol. Please let me know how your surgery went. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

    Did you have fast hr and anxiety before your surgery? If so how long did it take for it to go away after surgery?

    • @TwoIslandsGirl
      @TwoIslandsGirl  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I started feeling nervous when I felt the leg restraints get buckled on me. I closed my eyes and told myself it was a massage and to relax. One of the OR nurses was so sweet. She wrapped me in a warm blanket and hugged my chest; she whispered to me that I was about to fall asleep and to think about the wonderful dream I was getting ready to have. That soothed me right away. I didn't experience anxiety after surgery but I did have elevated blood pressure from being in pain. That part was hard. My parents were there which was a big help 😊

    • @TwoIslandsGirl
      @TwoIslandsGirl  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@faithlovlet Nope no side affects. The only issue I had was my voice would drop out and get raspy mid sentence sometimes. The surgeon warned that would happen since one of the vocal chord nerves was tangled in the thyroid. Thankfully no permanent voice damage though. Forgot to mention earlier that I take an over the counter thyroid support supplement with iodine so that may have helped in not experiencing side affects.
