@@spikeboy101 Absolutely not defending the dude because he definitely strikes me as a douche, but I think in many ways that is the curse of being so good. Especially from so young as well. The last time Gordon was humbled in his career, financially, socially, etc. was a long while back at the time of this interview. And even looking back it could be rationalized away because in hindsight, he was on the rise.
When you have very few set backs and are constantly being told you’re the you’re amazing, it’s probably pretty difficult to see any flaws in yourself.
But it also doesn’t help that I think in every other context outside of BJJ Gordon is kind of just… idk… mediocre. Honestly this is cope. Having enemies isn’t normal, even in competition most competitors generally respect eachother because they understand what they are going through first hand. 14 year olds on XBox have enemies. Adults who are professional artists generally have fellows, if you have enemies it’s definitely not because of what you have done on the playing field. It’s because you have consistently made a competition personal and so people are now taking your actions personally. Normal artists have competitors even rivals but enemies means a huge loss of energy and efficiency to a bunch of wasted emotional nonsense. Resentment literally kills people. Many people use resentment as fuel to be better but then they have to cope with the fact that once they are off the Matt’s they are miserable and that is absolutely going to lead to bad lifestyle choices, some form of self destructive activity is bound to follow weather it’s drinking or sex or food or gambling. Nobody can just bottle bad blood that stuff comes out somewhere. This is why people who have been hurt in their youth often become addicted because anger and hate can’t just sit in your heart and fester the pressure must be released somewhere.
In short fierce competitors are good friends actual enemies are enemies and they aren’t helping anything because that sort of relationship does not remain inside the playing field, it’s something you have to waist time dealing with.

I mean insofar as you can call them flaws. Everybody has those. I doubt he cares they left and started b team, prob a bit let down by it at first but everyone in b team prob didn’t want to be around if they could help it. Seems to be a common theme amongst great athletes esp in team sports but it’s harder to leave those. Kobe and MJ were described as pretty difficult people to be around at practice by their teammates, you can imagine they demanded a lot, and that is uncomfortable for many people. I’m sure he’s difficult but it looks like everyone who sticks around him and Danaher seem to be at the top of their game and progressing a faster rate than the competition.
