I had a kitten in my lap, about six months old, who started watching you work. He was interested in the movement of the brayer but didn't do more than just watch. However, when you started using your hands to press the paper, he began to purr very deeply. And then, when you stopped pressing the paper, he stopped purring. I wonder if he thought you were petting the paper? Nice use of a silicone pan, btw. ~ Lisa
This is exactly why I subscribed to your channels. You definitely "use what you've got" in genius ways! Even your glass "presser" is smart. And, as always, the end result is wonderful. You are truly an inspiration to all crafters!🌟♥️🌟
I think you have had an awesome break through on craft supplies!!!!! I would have never thought to use a silicone pan, but it is a fabulous craft product now. I bet every person who watches your video will be getting one now!!!! Thank you for sharing this wonderful idea!!!!!!
Love, love, love this technique! A thoughtful suggestion - wonder if you would cut the lip off all the way around if the silicon mat would lay flatter & be more manageable
From reading other comments, and I'd have to agree with them, they love your adventurous spirit! Without adventurous spirits, we won't find these wonderful ideas! Who would have thought a silicone mat would have produced such beautiful papers!
I have to agree with everyone else, what a genius idea! I have a silicone baking sheet, luckily mine doesn't have the sides on it! I have a whole set of silicone baking pans, I never really used them so now I have a purpose for at least one. Thank you so much.
You are fantastic..followed you for many years and your giggle is just infectious too. Adorable accent. But your honesty and obvious skill, talent and gentle teaching style shines through. Thank you for feeding the soul.
You are one of the best crafters/artists on TH-cam. Your work is exceptionally beautiful, wonderfully inspirational and I am extremely grateful that you share your ideas with us.
I absolutely love your videos. You are a very talented and gifted artist/creator! I have to say that I find myself watching your videos for your beautiful and contagious laugh as much as for the craft projects! I swear I smile every time I hear your giggle😂 your joy is contagious. Never stop! Thank you for all of your inspiration. Take care.
I fully agree with Paint3dRos3. You always use simple things and then, in some magical way, you create the most beautiful items with them. I love the idea of the silicone mat to make gelly prints! You are a true artist, Eva, with genius ideas and I do thank you for sharing your experience with us. You are so inspiring! Love from France ❤
You are the queen of envelopes. Now you are the queen of use what you have!!! What a fantastic, creative, marvelous, awesome idea!!! I can't wait to go thru my stuff and have a play. I see buying myself a silicon baking pan in my future. The only reason I have hesitated on making my own geli plate,( frugal crafter has several recipes), was I didn't have a place to store it to keep it flat and dust free. Yahoo, I have my own "gelli plate" without the problems . Thank you Miss Eva. You are a treasure. 💕
Truly a creative idea. I have wanted a gelli plate for a while but hesitated to spend the money because I wondered if I would really use it all that much. Now I can try with my mat and see if I want to spend the money. Thanks for sharing your experiment with us.
I just picked up one very similar at the thrift store this week to try this because it will completely cover my 8.5 x 11 paper. Now I see your video. Yay! I’m very excited to try. Thank you for this tutorial.
What a more economical and lovely way to do “monoprinting” without a gelli plate or other more expensive “plates” to use as your printing plate. I guess “printing” can be done on a variety of plates, be they gel, silicone, plastic, rubber, metal or stone. It really pays to just experiment with supplies you already have….to see what happens and come up with something, if not totally unique, then something where you use what you have and aren’t pressured to spend money on more expensive brand name tools in order to get the same or near same result!
Another Brilliant idea! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Love your bottle baron. It's perfect! I got so tickled at the joy you felt when the Inventer showed up blue. That was Awesome! You would definitely Love a gelli plate.
Good day, you lovely human being, I have been watching you content for quite a while, and I have to say you always inspire me. So thank you very much for that. I just wanted to let you know that it is simple to make a gelli plate. It doesn't take a lot of ingredients, and you can make it any shape and size you want. You can make small ones to use like stamps and larger ones to print on. I don't know the price of them there, but in canada they can be expensive. I work in a seniors care facility and wanted to bring them to the clients so they could have a play. I bought them into the facility, and my clients loved them. It's nice. They are cool to the touch, so they are tactile. When we added the medium to the top and put the paper on, they would wait with anticipation. Once the print was pulled, their faces would light up with excitement to see what they had just made. I got my recipe for the gelli plate from Pinterest, I'm sure that they are on the internet as well. Good luck. Can't wait to see what you make next.
Lol you are a genius Eva! Silicon mats and perfume bottles for crafting - who would have thought of that? And such fantastic results especially using stamps. Thank you xx
Yes! I used a silicon placement for a few years before buying my first gelliplate. I showed it on one of my courses too because I love showing students that you don’t have to buy expensive equipment. It’s so fun finding out you can use what you have isn’t it?! Nice results too! 😀🙌🏼
I was amazed how far a little bit of ink went. seems like this would be an easy way to replace coffee dyed paper. and I really like the brown with the blue man silhouette. I have been making your 6 x 6 mini envelopes and having fun. love them. thanks for sharing your creativity.
I so enjoy your mind and how it works!! ❤ Amazing ideas for tools when I'm too impatient to go to the store or wait for stuff to arrive in the mail!! 😊
If you want a gelli plate, you can make your own, I did, it works out fine. I googled it for the instructions, I made it a long time ago and I keep it in a metal tin. Your video is amazing and you are so creative, both with your instruments and your results. Thank you for sharing! 🇨🇦 P.S. your nails look so cute!
What a fun product to use for printing, especially if one doesn’t have a gel plate. Great idea, Eva. BTW, I made the framed pop-up framed paper doll. I used one of Tim Holtz dolls, however, the doll was a bit thick, so next time, I will use a copied one on thinner paper. It turned out pretty cool anyway but thinner doll cutout would definitely work better. Thanks for the inspiration, Eva.
You always figure things out!!! Great idea! I just put pigment in water and dye in an old roasting pan. It's rusty on bottom so leaves some rust marks. BONUS! TFS. Austin TX USA
Thank you for being so experimental with your work and sharing. And don't ever apologize for your words! Your actions and your love for what you do is explaination enough... and so is easy to follow. Thank you for putting a smile on my face with my first cup of coffee for the day!
Thank you so much for sharing your experiment with us! I got myself a gelli plate about a month ago and I’m completely smitten with creating printed papers. I haven’t used my inks on it, yet, but after watching this video, I know exactly what I’ll be trying tomorrow! ❤
What a great idea! I would never have thought of that! I just found you and I subscribed immediately. It’s gonna be rainy here, and I’m glad so I can watch all of your videos. Blessings to you great lady!🙏🖖🤭
Ooooh! This is just brilliant. I had to search a bit but found a "swiss roll cake pan" just like this online. I may also try using my cooking baking silicon mats which have a basket weave-type texture. Also, they make oven liners that are similar, and my glue mats for crafting must get a try. This has just opened up a whole new world of fun ideas! I have a Gelli plate but the textures you got are just breathtaking!!
What a great idea to use the backside of silicone mats. I always tried only the "good" side, but since this is repellent (as it should be) I always had these unwanted drops or pools of colour. Now I will immediately try it with the backside. And to use stamps to get a negative imprint is very cool. Thank you so much for sharing 💖💖
Wow, Eva, what an amazing surprise to get such a wonderful response to my question! 😍 I love this idea, and you've created such beautiful backgrounds! Haven't got a baking tray like this, but I DO have a gelli plate 😅I'll take it out and see what I can achieve with the folders 💗 I have only used it before to create prints for my art journal or for my collages, never thought to use it for junk journal backgrounds - once again, you have opened the door for so many possibilities! Heartfelt thanks and big hugs 💗🤗
Thank you so much for sharing this, this is really a great tutorial , you let us see you don’t have to use expensive tools , you just use kitchen tools, love it. ❤
This opens up a lot of possibilities. Thank you. I have a large silicone mat that I bought in the pet section at KMart - great for containing my arty mess.

Great idea! If you cut the edges off all together, your paper would fit better & it wouldn’t bow when upside down.
Genius.
Love, love, love this technique! A thoughtful suggestion - wonder if you would cut the lip off all the way around if the silicon mat would lay flatter & be more manageable

Nice! Easy Clean up, takes up very little storage. You're a genius! Creative Blessings!
Using the silicon pan is so original! BUT, using a bottle as a printing tool is sheer BRILLIANCE!!!
I was smiling with the excitement in your voice was great including the great idea, well done. Lots of Love, Light and Laughter Forever!
Thank you. I don't know which I enjoyed the most, the instruction for junk journaling, or your beautiful accent. 💜💙💛🧡
