      Jerry Rice #1 Steve Largent #2. People talked a lot about how Largent caught the ball. That is all he had to do. Catch it. Nobody in NFL history got so consistently open.
      Another funny sidenote is when they had the strike some players came back a week early. For the Seahawks it was the QB and Largent. Largent was 1 yard short of the NFL single game receiving record at halftime so he sat out the second half. He could have had 500 yards receiving it was ridiculous.

    Lifelong Seahawks fan...I mean from the first game. So I got to watch #80 play for a long, long time. Spectacular catches for TD's to a 4yd grab on 3d and 3. Through it all Steve Largent was (and is) the consummate professional. No dancing in the end zone, no exaggerated first down signage and only one taunt that I ever saw...and honestly, I doubt Mike Harden could have heard it or seen it. My most favorite play in Largent's illustrious HOF career was a tackle.

    He actually had double intensity for that play. 1. The Payback for the Forearm Shiver in Denver. 2. Brian Blades had just been called for retaliation to a Personal Foul (by Castille) on the previous play that turned up the steam on Steve even more. He yelled at the ref it was not retaliation and the ref's mic picked it up, causing the crowd at the 'dome to go even more nuts. Like Hannibal Smith from A-Team, Steve was 'On The Jazz' for Harden and, well...

      And rightly so. He was a badass. Wide receivers of the modern era really can't even be compared to guys of his time. He was good due to natural talent and work ethic, super hi-tech gloves never helped him make one single play.

    • @jppsfingers50
      @jppsfingers50 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wasn't underrated at all. People were espousing his virtues at the end of his career. He caught his 100th TD against my uncle Ickey Woods' Cincinnati Bengals. There was a standing O at Riverfront Stadium for him. Stop it.

    Steve Largent is arguably the best route running receiver ever. He was always cuaght from behind by linebackers and later in his career even defensive linemen so he didn't get open because of his speed. Jerry Rice was interviewed one time where he discussed perfecting his route running based on watching game film of Steve Largent. Steve Largent was never a dirty player but he clearly was a tough football player. His hit on Harden was perfect.

    • @rylian21
      @rylian21 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He had this move where he could look off his own defenders too. He was the top receiver in college and was still a total afterthought on draft day. He even got cut by the team that drafted him.

  • @kennycai8695

    It gets better: not only did the Seahawks win that "revenge" game, but they also made the playoffs that year while the Broncos bowed out with a 8-8 record (for context, the Seahawks played in the AFC until making the switch to the NFC in 2002, therefore the Seahawks and Broncos became division rivals within the AFC West).

    That was an intentional cheapshot by Mike Harden. Harden was always a dirty player. That was great when Steve laid him right out and then recovered Harden's fumble on top of it. I'm not a Seahawks fan but I've always had tons of respect for Steve Largent. Kenny Easley was a great player on their defense
