I really think possibly the best possible wheels for most moderately aggressive trail riders is asymmetric stans or ibis carbon rims with Berd spokes. The Berd spokes add compliance back to carbon to rims and enable absurdly light builds at the same time. This isn't cheap to build though. If you are on a budget the alloy build seems great.
Put the mk4 M pulse set on my Bronson v3 and absolutely love it. Feels a little soft I think though. Im gonna try to grab a carbon rear with a hub that’s lil louder. Love my mk4s though, I run it with Cush core and had plenty of fun sessions at Bachelor 🤙

How much was your rear wheel? I bought the front for 300 when I switched forks to through axle. The rear was 650 with the m-pulse hub. As far as I know there isn't a cheaper version of mk4
Just got a custom built set a couple months ago for my orbea occam! I9 hubs with flow rims and they are great! Huge upgrade from the stock wheelset.
I got the new M-pulse set, I am liking it. YUGE upgrade to my new bike. Thanks for the review, not many out there yet on these.
