Martina, im in the US and i too turned my back yard into a rock garden with a raised flower bed, fire pjt and a pondless waterfall. This year i bought 7 arborvaete trees. 3 died. Exact same soil conditions, same drainage, same watering. I lost 3 of them. Im convinced there was a problem at the nursery level and not anything on my end so if you want a tree there, buy another one and you will likely be successful! Love your place and cant wait to see what you make next. Im a 54 year old grandma and did my whole back yard in gravel, and limestone chunks and river stones i collected. Took me 2 years and i love it. A true backyard oasis! Very hard back breaking work. I used a dolly and a wagon hitched to lawnmower and many 5 gallon buckets.
Cuidate mucho.
Martina You Are Good at So Many Construction things but Building Stone Walls is Definitely where You SHINE!!! 🏆 Looks Amazing! Another Excellent Video! 💐
Martina I know an easy way to get rid of moles Dig out the heap of soil and find the mole tunnel in the tunnel put some dog poo the moles hate it and they will move elsewhere This worked for me when nothing else did Good luck your doing a great job
Hello Martina, I started following your videos today, I loved it, you have done a fantastic job. How beautiful is this place? I'll keep following and I've already subscribed to the channel 👏👏
The tops of the “castle wall” are known as merlons and the gaps between them are crenels…. I’m from 🏴 Wales, we have lots of beautiful castles here
Hello Martina, I'm from Portland, Oregon, which seems to have a similar climate and beautiful green hilly geography. One outstanding example is Mount Saint Helens volcano, which exploded its entire top off and covered our neighborhood with 9" of volcanic ash!
Suggestion: slide the bigger rocks on to an old blanket and drag the blanket to where you want to move the stone to... less friction = easier movement!
I just learnt I am never to old to learn something at 59 I just learnt your tip to nip the reinforcing mesh and then bend to save disk wear, thanks Martina😊👍
I am almost retired (old man) stone (and brick/block) mason in America, and I really like how you capped off your stone wall (we call it a mud cap). I think it looks much better than a flagstone cap for that situation. it looks more natural👍
Hello. Another old (American) man here. I have some questions for you if you don’t mind. I’m doing research for next summer’s rock walls. I’ve never done a stone wall before. Is Martina putting the yellow tubes in for drainage at levels even higher than at the bottom of the wall? Thanks for any tips you can give.
@RichHernigle The weep holes can be 12" to 18" above the finished exposed bottom of the retaining wall. Of course, the lower the better, about 2" to 3" would be ideal.-- The weep holes are there to relieve hydrostatic pressure from pushing the wall over. The lower half of the wall is naturally stronger than the upper half, if you have water collecting at the bottom 2' of the wall, imo that's not going to push the wall. At least I've never seen that happen. .. I hope that answers that question, and good luck with your project.
Mole Plant {Euphorbia lathyris} Biennial Flowering Shrub. These are supposed to be a good plant that can keep moles away. We use moth balls and that mole granular stuff that you just pour in their holes. I hope you can get rid of them without having to hurt them. Love the videos. Give Blis a scratch from me
Hi Martina, Phew 😮💨 what determination, those rocks look super heavy 💪Well done, the wall is looking fabulous! Will you,a gate/ gates across the drive? 🥰
Ok May i suggest you push stones aside quite a way , then lift the black liner , and put a wire mesh round the area, I think you have a mole …. One u put the mesh put liner over it then the stones… A small hole mesh wire
Fantastic job Martina rtvoj dvorac ce izgledato savrseno , after so many years living in USA and from Balkan myself I am proud of you girl keep doing great job.
Martina an old method for stopping the moles digging is to put a glass bottle or jar into the hole they make with the neck out in the open. The wind travels down the bottle neck and they dont like it. Just an old method, give it a try. Good luck.
The purpose of the small gravel behind the wall is so water will fall to the bottom and drain out. If your hose does not drain from the bottom you will have water collected there and will cause damage. You don't need hoses up and down on the wall.

I have some mole stakes that emit a sound to hopefully drive them away. Seems to have made an improvement. Good luck! That’s too much work to have ruined all the time. Maybe consider a treatment to kill the worms and grubs? Nothing for the mole to eat might solve the problem.
Someone named you "queen of rock and concrete" and I couldn't agree more and I am wondering when you love concrete that much, why you didn't buy yourself a vibrating needle. That thing would help you immensely giving you finish you'd like every single time.
Good morning, another FUN DAY! I need to buy a cement mixer and going to buy electric any information on yours would be appreciated, how many sacks, litros and watts. You mix alot of cement and would like something to compare too. I’m a rock wall guy and flower beds using rocks Thanks for the Adventure and Ideas 😊
There were moles moles digging flipping holes lol did you Google how to move them Martinas ? Very annoying problem dear . I'm sure you will be glad to see the end of big rocks . Your absolutely brilliant girl what you have achieved on your own and all the filming wow .. good luck 🍀🍀🍀 stay safe and strong 💪 big hugs 🫂❤️😊
5:53 to 5:57 sounded like Chewbacca! He visiting Slovenia? Was that his roar of approval for your work? =) I think the tops of your castle wall need gargoyle lanterns. Or maybe more potted plants. Or a statue of Blis. You can name your house "Blis Manor. I love watching you work. I get so sad everytime the video ends.
Dear Martina, working tirelessly with stone in concrete, one question: why don't you use a soft-faced hammer to improve and compact the connections between the stone and the concrete? In min. 42:56 I see gaps and small cracks in your wall connections, care should be taken to ensure a coherent, tight connection by drying the concrete. Please take this as a little tip and not as something to do with your work, you are doing great. I mean, it would be a shame if you had to repair or replace it in a few years, right? It looks really great what you have planned. See you next week, LG. EW
In years to come, you can look at all the stone walls and know you hand placed every stone yourself...❤

Preying Mantis, and if that’s the only word you struggle with, your command of English is amazing!
Hi Caroll. It's spelled "praying" because the mantis looks like it's praying. 🙏 They do prey on other insects, though. 😊
I admire all of your hardwork and I enjoy your videos, you inspire me to get back to work (but first, I watch your video!)😊
Oh my dear, that is back-breaking work! When I have to move something heavy, I would place it on one end of a towel and drag it! 😂
You are the " 👑 Queen of Rock & Concrete" and I think others will agree! Hello 👋🏻 from Alhambra Southern California 🌴
Your neighbours will be wanting you to build them stone walls now! Great job, Hugs to Blis! 😊
Looking forward to your finished entrance way, it’s going to look fantastic Martina, I can’t believe you can lift those heavy rocks! 😊
Hi Martina, Another Great Wall, nice to see the property coming along so well, you are a rock star... keep up the good work, see ya in the next 🌠🌟

Awesome job finishing up the retaining wall

I feel for you, Martina. I have those pesky Moles too. They are always where you don't want them.
Perfectly done 👋👍
It’s a praying mantis cutie. You remember me, I like that my favorite TH-camr and definitely the most beautiful one.😉
Hi Martina's I'm happy for you being retired how long ago did you last have a regular job
MARTINA SUPR DÍLO👍👍❤❤👌👌👍👍❤❤👌👌👍👍❤❤👌👌
The tree's roots are probably being eaten by the Mole. Try enclosing the hole for the roots of the tree in a protective casing against Moles.
You wake up Very Beautiful first thing in the morning❤
Hi Martina,
No need to go to the gym. It’s a good job.
Nikita

Quiet countryside
I know it's too late now but if you get a tarp and a rope you can put the rocks on it then pull them over to your wall easier.
❤

Maybe the tree had some illness and it wasn’t the soil.
