Popping Stormies to throw down a CLF that you drew up can arrest an opponent completely. It's a nice little get out of a sticky situation card. I always seem to pop it just before the turn I need it for the kill though 😅 Best part is if you have it arsenaled already, as long as you keep an ice in hand you can coronet to keep it out for a second turn for basically free.
Storm Striders only applies to wizard non-attack actions. Something like channel lake frigged doesn't work. I wish it did, though, oh would that be epic.
I'm glad to see that more people are having fun with the new heroes. Iyslander is a wonderful hero that rewards players more and more as they grow in knowledge of the game and other heroes, which is just so good. The deck has a number of interesting interactions, some of which have been laid out in the video. The deck as presented here is still pretty janky though. It doesn't feature a full equipment loadout for Blitz, Sonic Boom is contra-themed since it whiffs on non-Wizard Ice Cards which makes up over a quarter of the deck, and Blitz typically features higher AB, so most of the damage presented in this deck is going to be prevented. The key to Iyslander is learning how to shut down the opponent's turn which happens from hand destruction like Insidious + Icevein, heavy ice tax from Sigil, loss of go again from Hypothermia, none of which is featured here (Icevein blue is here but it just gets prevented). There are a couple of builds that utilize the same ideas to greater effect and with greater consistency which have already been featured. They're essentially just successful RTN Iyslander decks pruned for Blitz. For those that want to put together competitive Iyslander builds, I would recommend researching those decks. Some other notes about Iyslander interactions. There is no way to turn off AB or make AB more expensive for your opponent. Draconic heroes have Thaw which they can use to destroy Frosthexes. If you want to double tax an opponent, use Arctic Incarceration (red). Double tax is primarily for stopping Oasis Respite and for killing other Wizards. In a Wizard MU, if you're both within effective killing range, then your opponent can use Storm Striders to respond to your lethal to kill you. The double tax from Frostbite makes that too expensive. You can't play during End Step, which is when Frosthex-triggers trigger and afflictions expire. Neither player has priority. However, you don't need priority to use AB, so AB still occurs in the end step. Frosthex triggers happen before resources are lost, so an opponent can use floating resources to pay for AB. Pitching to AB to prevent Frosthex-caused damage happens before drawing back to intellect, so your opponent still gets to filter those cards. If you want to setup a gorgeous kill turn with Iyslander, you're looking for reds that hit hard like Ice Bolt (red), Aether Icevein (red), and Freezing Point (red). If you run Sigil (blue) and have a Frosthex in play, then Tunic + Sigil (fused) + Ice Eternal (fused) from arsenal at X=0 + Storm Striders + Ice Bolt (red) + Metacarpus and then Waning Moon deals 23 damage at AB 0, 20 damage at AB 1, 17 at AB 2, and 14 at AB 3. That's a fairly easy hand to get in Iyslander. If you have Insidious chill on board, both Sigil and Ice Eternal trigger the opponent to discard a card or pay 2, which typically puts your opponent on 2 or fewer resources. AB 3+ doesn't matter if you only have 2 resources, so that will be lethal unless the opponent has Oasis in Arsenal.
I love it (and will hate it when others play it against me. Heh!)! Smart suggestions on the timings for cards like Frost Hex and such. Taking your time and letting your opponent use some if not all of their cards until the right moment, making their Arcane Barriers useless is great. Cheers!
Incedious Chill is amazing, adds additional tax and does what you want. Also cindering incite is a great card for pitch and also if it's extra it helps push damage and set up your next turn. Also scour let's you, after the begining of eot trigger from frost hexes, double down on the arcane damage from the frostbite auras by popping them during end step.
@@VeganCATS1 scour is a blue stripe wizard action that can be played at instant speed from arsenal in response to the frostbite eot trigger from frost hexes. So yes you can.
Okay hold up... I don't think the release notes line works the way you seem to think it works. It is talking about the player that HAS the frostbyte, not you as the Iyslander player. Ala, if the player has one frostbyte and go to destroy it, if they tried to do something -else- before it was destroyed that frostbyte would still be there and they would need to pay again. So, for instance, if you responded to do arcane damage and give another frostbyte, it would take that much more to respond to -that- by using equipment to block the arcane damage, for example. It would not erase the resources spent to remove the frostbyte by responding to it, if they decide to do nothing about the damage. I am, though, unclear whether the payment for destroying the frostbite would already be on the stack and thus happen, or if an additional resource would need to be paid in order for the frostbite removal to resolve. Though, the additional frostbite would be there even if the prior got destroyed, and need to be paid for to do something, so it's still very disruptive. But it's not quite on the level it sounds like you're trying to describe.
Depends on when Channel the Bleak Expanse is played. If before cards like Pulping or Wild Ride are played, then the draw is turned off, but you must still discard. But if Pulping is played before Channel the Bleak Expanse, then the additional cost is paid before priority shifts.
And now that I've watched the whole video... There is an inherent issue with this deck and it's concept. You say, repeatedly, that you are going to be responding 'all the time' to the breaking of frostbite tokens with a card from their arsenal, and yet... the ONLY card in your deck that is capable of generating frostbites, outside of Iyslander's ability, is Arctic Incarceration blue. So, where are all these other frostbite tokens coming from?
Hey I liked the video but I almost stopped watching at the Equipment section. The reason: all that equipment cost 200+ euros to buy. I'm a new-ish player and don't (yet) want to spend that kind of money on singles so it would be nice if you at least mention some budget-y substitutes for the most expansive cards in the deck (like you do for Tunic). But otherwise this seems like the deck to annoy your opponents to frozen hell.
Make friends with ppl in your local area who have the expensive cards, some might be alright letting you borrow them for skirmish and higher level events as long as u seem trustworthy and excited to get into the game. That way u don’t need to commit to a hero’s unique equipment set before u know if u enjoy the play style
Most new players in my area proxy for armouries and casual events- at least until they've settled on a character- ask and I'm sure that nobody will mind.
It's difficult to proxy much of the equipment since there is no other equipment with comparable effects - Coronet, metacarpus and Striders are all completely unique. As said above, at armories there are usually players with multiple heroes who are happy to lend out equipment. For common equipment you can use the glacial horns + frostburn combo to effectively wipe out the opponent's arsenal. The feet is a bit more difficult. Mage masters boots can be a way of getting big damage through on one turn (t1 is probably most useful if you can afford the two cards).
Don't blame me for this
Hey bud, arcane barrier is a replacement effect so it does not turn off nullrune unfortunately. Also you cannot destroy spectra with arcane damage

Channel the Bleak Expanse is antisynergic since if you play it you cannot fuse
Is there a video to explain this strategy??

Ahhh yeah, gonna be rammin down some beautiful Signal Jammers baby!
Doesn't really do anything since Iyslander plays one card per turn cycle usually
@@oaierghjniasdvf4101 Yeah, realizing how unfair much of these wizard instants are. Here's hoping LSS sort out these mechanics.
Dose CBE prevent Brute Cards from drawing a card/ Discarding a card as an additional cost.

it is a replacement effect

Exactly my thoughts.
Yeah, definitely needs more colour Arctic incarcerations to play on your turn if that's the approach.
@@pauk.w so that.... and the biggest issue is that it has more Bule Non-Ice wizard cards that Ice cards so you wouldn't be making extra frost.
I don't understand the whole point of responding to frostbite triggers
It's only really useful if the opponent is planning on using a Respite to try and block arcane for cheap.
This makes no sense. Where are they getting the first frostbite from that you are respond to?
And why exactly would you want to respond to the frostbite trigger? Makes no difference
@@oaierghjniasdvf4101 Cards that read how many frostbites your opponent has will count the frostbites before they're destroyed (e.g. Ice Eternal).
