“Hamne dekhi hain un aankhon ki mehekti khushboo”, a song that Gulzar sahab originally wanted to be a male song. However Hemant da, the composer insisted that only Lata ji should sing this composition and well she did immortalize this song. Though Gulzar sahab thought that the expression “aankhon ki mehekti khushboo” is not something a woman would say in a man’s praise. Well here’s my rendition.

This song is actually a male song. It was supposed to be sung a male singer. When Hemant Kumar did not get any male singer for this, then he requested Lata Mangeshkar to sing it. And the result is an immortal song.
