Ok, I'm a newbie Disturbed fan, grew up as a metalhead and these guys are talented and awesome. Now, having that said, I realized their later materials are very "literal and direct" with lyrics almost like opera which has a danger of terribly "tanking" a song. Too direct = boring. But these guys pull it of pretty well despite the criticism, love his voice: telepathic, strong, healing and quite addictive. Nice guitar and songwriting as well. Love to see them play someday!

This is a little long, but I feel compelled to share my experience meeting Disturbed. I met Disturbed in August of 2005 in Colorado Springs, CO. This was a month before Ten Thousand Fists was released. I was 18 and it was my first show ever. The best part about this is that the band came out and met fans on their own, this was not a meet and greet. I was hanging out outside of the venue near the entrance, and I noticed the same pair of shoes I saw on stage.. It was Dan Donagen. He was talking to a bunch of people, and I noticed he was just as shy as I was as he spoke pretty softly.. I got a picture with him, and I remember I was feeling really star struck and could only say "you play guitar" but he was too cool about it. He kept saying "yeah" to everything I said, and that was really it. He's a man of few words. Then I can't quite recall if I met David next or Mike, but I'll save David for last: Mike was SOO down to Earth, the dude was probably the most chill I've ever met. I was standing at the edge of a crowd, and suddenly someone in front of me says "Hey Mike!" and I look to my right and as soon as I did, a guy turned around and said "HEY!" It was Mike Wengren. Again, I was star Struck.. I had been a fan of Disturbed for 2 years up to that point and knew all their names and was sad when Fuzz left the band.. At this point, John had just started with the band, and was on stage with them, but he didn't come out. Anyways, We ended up chatting for a while, me and a few others with Mike, and we all got pictures with him too. He put his arm around me and made Devil Horns right next to my head lol. He was around the most, I remember conversations about touring with Godsmack, and a few others, and that they were soon going to Texas which would be good for them because John handn't been home for a while.. Mike was really cool, he is exactly the guy you see in MOL. Last was when I met David. I think I scared him a little with my Star Struck stare to be honest lol. He came out of the background walking his beautiful white dog with blue eye's.. Don't recall her name, and I am almost certain it was a girl, but who knows (and I am certain she's dead now.. SadFace). Anyways, David is walking out with his dog, and he and I immediately make Eye Contact, and he begins to walk towards me.. and my heart skips a few beats... he then goes right up to me, puts out his hand out, we shake hands.. and He said "How are you, its nice to meet you.." and I was such a fucking dork, all I could say was "Hey.." with the biggest smile, and I swear my jaw was on the ground lol. That was when he started looking at me with "oh fuck, not another one" eyes.. Fuck I was 18 and I've always been really shy, so I didn't know how to react. Anyways, David hung out for a while, talked with a number of people. I remember watching him walk off for a while, and pranced along a wall with his dog while holding a cell phone to his ear. It look like a nice thick flip phone... God I couldn't stop watching him, I was such a freak.. Finely got a picture with David after a few. There were a lot of people trying to do so. One of the guys I was with was getting a picture and I think David was about to go in or something because someone I was with strongly suggested I get in the picture too. It ended up being 3 people with David in that picture. As I walked up next to him, I remember his expression was one of surprise and he seemed a little tired, and he said "I guess we're all getting in the picture." I was solidified DISTURBED that night.. and whenever the Disturbed haters ask me why I like them, I say because I met them, and they are among the coolest people I've had the privilege to meet. It was one of the greatest nights of my life. I seriously wish I could meet them again. Now that I'm much older and wiser, if I met Disturbed again, I could actually have a conversation with them and not freak out and go all dumb with star struck-ness. I'd Thank them and compliment them. I haven't had the chance since this occasion in 2005, but I hope I get to now that they're touring again.

This is a little long, but I feel compelled to share my experience meeting Disturbed.
I met Disturbed in August of 2005 in Colorado Springs, CO. This was a month before Ten Thousand Fists was released. I was 18 and it was my first show ever. The best part about this is that the band came out and met fans on their own, this was not a meet and greet. I was hanging out outside of the venue near the entrance, and I noticed the same pair of shoes I saw on stage.. It was Dan Donagen. He was talking to a bunch of people, and I noticed he was just as shy as I was as he spoke pretty softly.. I got a picture with him, and I remember I was feeling really star struck and could only say "you play guitar" but he was too cool about it. He kept saying "yeah" to everything I said, and that was really it. He's a man of few words.
Then I can't quite recall if I met David next or Mike, but I'll save David for last: Mike was SOO down to Earth, the dude was probably the most chill I've ever met. I was standing at the edge of a crowd, and suddenly someone in front of me says "Hey Mike!" and I look to my right and as soon as I did, a guy turned around and said "HEY!" It was Mike Wengren. Again, I was star Struck.. I had been a fan of Disturbed for 2 years up to that point and knew all their names and was sad when Fuzz left the band.. At this point, John had just started with the band, and was on stage with them, but he didn't come out. Anyways, We ended up chatting for a while, me and a few others with Mike, and we all got pictures with him too. He put his arm around me and made Devil Horns right next to my head lol. He was around the most, I remember conversations about touring with Godsmack, and a few others, and that they were soon going to Texas which would be good for them because John handn't been home for a while.. Mike was really cool, he is exactly the guy you see in MOL.
Last was when I met David. I think I scared him a little with my Star Struck stare to be honest lol. He came out of the background walking his beautiful white dog with blue eye's.. Don't recall her name, and I am almost certain it was a girl, but who knows (and I am certain she's dead now.. SadFace). Anyways, David is walking out with his dog, and he and I immediately make Eye Contact, and he begins to walk towards me.. and my heart skips a few beats... he then goes right up to me, puts out his hand out, we shake hands.. and He said "How are you, its nice to meet you.." and I was such a fucking dork, all I could say was "Hey.." with the biggest smile, and I swear my jaw was on the ground lol. That was when he started looking at me with "oh fuck, not another one" eyes.. Fuck I was 18 and I've always been really shy, so I didn't know how to react. Anyways, David hung out for a while, talked with a number of people. I remember watching him walk off for a while, and pranced along a wall with his dog while holding a cell phone to his ear. It look like a nice thick flip phone... God I couldn't stop watching him, I was such a freak..
Finely got a picture with David after a few. There were a lot of people trying to do so. One of the guys I was with was getting a picture and I think David was about to go in or something because someone I was with strongly suggested I get in the picture too. It ended up being 3 people with David in that picture. As I walked up next to him, I remember his expression was one of surprise and he seemed a little tired, and he said "I guess we're all getting in the picture."
I was solidified DISTURBED that night.. and whenever the Disturbed haters ask me why I like them, I say because I met them, and they are among the coolest people I've had the privilege to meet. It was one of the greatest nights of my life. I seriously wish I could meet them again. Now that I'm much older and wiser, if I met Disturbed again, I could actually have a conversation with them and not freak out and go all dumb with star struck-ness. I'd Thank them and compliment them. I haven't had the chance since this occasion in 2005, but I hope I get to now that they're touring again.

To whom it may concern: I am from a small town in Michigan. I am going thru some severe issues with pain and morphine withdrawal. The song "The Light" by Disturbed has been such a positive video for me. Not in anyway to take away from the Man in the video, but I sure can relate. I have reasons to live and be happy but I gotta tell you that this is Sooo hard. THANK YOU DAVID AND ALL OF YOU IN THE BAND CALLED DISTURBED. You will never know how much you have helped get me to get my life back 🙏
